Hi Vicky,

The best sounding one I've found is the one we decided to sell on our
site but like I said I don't know much about hearing aids. Apparently
some hearing aids will pair just fine with this BT transmitter, while
some customers have reported that it didn't work with their particular
hearing aids.

I"m referring to the one below which is portable and can be connected
via USB to a computer or any other device via a headphone jack. When
used with a computer it allows one to use a headset for making calls
with Skype, Google Voice, etc, but I don't know that hearing aids have
built-in mics or not for this purpose. Many use this for their Victor
Reader Streams for wireless listening. Here's the link:

The portable Swivel Jack RTX Bluetooth transmitter/receiver is just
$44.99! Perfect for making your Victor Stream or any device with a
headphone jack, able to connect to your Bluetooth headphones or
speaker! Connect it to your computer's USB port and have it come
through your Bluetooth headset or speaker! The receiver side speaks
everything from power on through power off! It boasts a range of 100
Feet and much more...

I hope that helps.

Yes, there are many different types and the quality varies. Some are

I purchased a Focus 14 braille display. Of course it was used, and all I
got was the display. No usb cable, or AC charger. The battery only runs
the unit in blue tooth paring. I have a Mac Mini, and it works okay with my
computer. The only exception is that I can’t get it out of eight dot
setting. I looked in the manual and the toggle to turn eight dot on and off
is eight cord. I think that eight cord means all the keys 1 through eight
with the space bar. But all it doesn’t change the setting. The keys are
numbered 1 2 3 and 7 on the left top of the unit and then 4 5 6 and eight
on the right top of the unit. The space bar is below the braille display.
I tried it without the space bar, and no changes. There is a power on and
off button on the left hand side of the machine, but the keys don’t work in
this setting. When the unit is connected to a computer, the computer powers
the display. Any suggestions would be helpful. The instructions did state
that it would function differently with a third party computer. I’m sure
they meant a Mac. Freedom Scientific doesn’t support this unit anymore.
Thanks.

I've found Thunderbird to be sluggish with JAWS. So, I now use the Windows 10 mail app. However, if I remember correctly, Thunderbird uses some of the same commands as the Windows 10 mail app such as Control plus N for new message and Control plus Enter to send a message. Since Thunderbird uses menus instead of ribbons, you should be able to find shortcuts for other functions.

Re: thunderbird e-mail

The ones you are likely to use are the pretty much standardized commands you find in Windows e-mail programs, at least the ones I've used.
Control r reply.
Control n, new message.
Control f, forward.
Control enter, send message.
What is different and important is that when you open the program, you won't be in the message or folders' list. Use f6 to move to the folders or message list. You can tab but its very inefficient because there may be many other areas of the program you will land in.

Also, if you are using NVDA, there is an add-on that lets you easily change the order of columns in the message list. I don't know if this is still the case but for a long time, the subject line was first, followed by the from line. Most people want the from line first.
there is a Thunderbird add-on that lets you use first letter navigation to move to the folder you want. You will likely want that. If someone doesn't give you more information and if you want it ask, and I should be able to find where to get it.

Removing Old Credit Cards from Amazon

Mike B.

Hi All,

The subject line just about says it all!  Has anyone found or know a way to remove credit cards from their credit cards list with Amazon?  I have 3 credit cards that need to be removed and I can't find any option to remove, only to add a credit card.  I had Amazon disability on the phone last night for about 20 minutes before the call dropped from their end or, they hung up because they couldn't help.  I didn't even get an email from their disability department asking me to rate the agent, I wonder why?!  LOL

If anyone has a solution for removing credit cards I would, as well as many others, sure like to know about it!  All help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks mooy moocho.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

I don't know very much about hearing aids so can't comment about them but I
do know a little about Bluetooth transmitters.

Yes, there are many different types and the quality varies. Some are mono
while others transmit in stereo. Some are very clear while others sound
crackly, hiss, or make other noises. Some are very short range while others
will transmit over much longer distances.

Hi List, I have been told that the Oticon More 1 hearing aids will
stream my computer's sound to my hearing aids through using a
Bluetooth dongle.
However I have tried that sometime ago with Starkey and the sound
quality was awful.

Could there be differing types or qualities of dongles?

I would like to get the quality from these as I think the Com Pilot
does for the Phonak. Do any of you think that is possible?

I do have the possibility of trying out the Phonak hearing aids. What
do you think?

I will really appreciate your thoughts!

nvda and weather

heather albright

Hello, I wanted to know if anyone knows how to add your city to the weather read out with NVDA?  I live in san Antonio but, I am actually closer to Helotes than the main city. The temperature is quite different than the zipcode they have for san Antonio.  So just wanting to know how to add my weather location instead.

Thanks Heather
