Subject: [TechTalk] Sharp E L620 Talking Calculator

Hi All,

I have a Sharp E L 620 talking calculator and I can't get it to speak.  I think I may be pressing the buttons in a wrong sequence or something to activate the speaking feature.  I haven't used this device in many years and I put fresh batteries in it and it does turn on, but I just can't make it speak.

Can anyone tell me what the button pressing sequence is to make it speak?  I have the button layout, but like I said I'm not sure about the buttons to press and their sequence.  All help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

I use Voice Dream Reader on my iPhone to read ePub files. I also understand Dolphin's Easy Reader will do the same thing for free. I hope that helps.

Hi, I have a few issues with this.  I’m sure it is user error.  1 How do I import my current bookmarks into it from chromium edge?  2 I tried to save a book mark using the extension for chrome and wasn’t able to get it to work any ideas why this won’t work?  Thanks for your help.

Unable to Toggle Between Sound, Vibrate and Mute on BrailleNote Touch Plus

Debbie April Yuille

Hi All

Has anyone else noticed that on the BrailleNote Touch Plus, the option to toggle between Sound, Mute and Vibrate has disappeared from the notification shade. It’s also not present in the sounds menu in the android settings either.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

Debbie

Hi Vicki,

I don't recall where I got these steps, but they've worked for me:

Using JAWS 2020 and Google Chrome, I do the following:

On Dropbox site, after logging in, enter on Account. This expands the account menu.

Enter on Settings

Enter on Security tab, to select it.

There are several other settings before the list of devices. Either scroll past them, or look for the word "devices" on the page.

Devices currently linked to Dropbox are listed from the most recently used to the oldest. Each device has an indication of when it was last using Dropbox,
and each device has an "unlink" button.

Thanks Kathrine!

Was thinking about the 3000 but wasn't sure of where to tell them to go to find it. Do you know if there is somewhere they can go and get general info on the talking thermostats? I believe there is a site called 'talkingthermostats.com'. I was not able to access this one though.., my antivirus program kept wanting to block it..? Again Thanks!

When you open a file in chrome, for example, and you want to download it, press control plus S to save it. Then, you can determine where you want to file to go in the normal way. After you do that, the file should be automatically downloaded. I hope that helps.

Hi,

I asked a question earlier about reading epub books,, but since I didn't
receive a response, I'll make it more simple. Does anyone have a favorite
accessible ap to read with that kind of books, such as from Internet
archive, or can it only work with the Kindle app? I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks again,

Gene,

I realize there's usually more than one way in windows to perform a
task, but right after sending this note to the list it dawned on me to
open settings. I did that and found I think it said startup apps, and
after choosing that I started tabbing through and there were several
things. Dropbox was one thing listed and it was off, so I turned it on
and rebooted and now my dropbox is enabled and showing me the file that
was shared with me this morning.

I've seen mixed reports about Microsoft Disability service and it seems to vary quite a bit, depending on who you get.

You will have to start Dropbox manually if you want to change the automatic startup setting, or at least, that's one way. It sounds as though you know how to do that.
Once started go into the actual system tray, not the system tray dialog your screen-reader provides.

To do this, use the command Windows key b.
Now type the letter d until you are on Dropbox.
Press the space bar.
A context menu will open.
Up arrow to preferences and press enter.
When preferences opens you will be on a field where you can tell Dropbox to start on startup or not. It is currently unchecked. Check it with the space bar, tab to and activate the ok button.

Hi all,

I had to call Microsoft accessibility the other day and one of the
things the guy did to try to solve my problem was to stop a couple of
things from starting on bootup. One of those things was dropbox, but I
share a dropbox with some friends and lots of things get shared and I
haven't been getting anything that's been shared over the past few days,
including something that was put in the box specifically for me this
morning.

I'm running the latest version of windows 10 here, how do I get dropbox
to start when windows starts?

Thanks.
