Hi there, Mr Rawls! I had a problem installing Windows 10, and I found
that I had requested a file to be put on my computer that would not
let a higher version than 7 be installed. Windows gave me instructions
as what to do, so I followed them and then got Windows 10 installed. I
can't remember what the instructions were now, but if you get the
Windows10UpgraderApp.exe, this might help.

Re: Edit Field With Brave Browser Question Please.

Hi Janet,

Check your typing echo setting in Brave, it's possible you changed the setting accidentally.  Press, Insert + 2, on the number row to toggle through the options.  The typing echo options are, character, words, both characters and words and none.

Hold down the, Insert key, and tap the, 2 key, stopping on the option you want.

In Jaws 2021 the, Insert + spacebar, then pressing, S, toggles speech between, Speech on demand, and Full speech.  You'll have to experiment with this to get the hang of the way the 2 settings work.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

It sounds to me as though there is no setting that will solve the problem.
My guess is that what is happening is that when you type, the letter is
appearing as a selected or highlighted letter.  JAWS is announcing it as it
appears because JAWS reads selected text by default.

As I consider the problem, there may be another way to solve the problem.
JAWS key s switches between three options.  The default is highlighted and
it is the one you would usually use.  All is another option and none is
another.  Use the command to move to none and see what happens when you
type.  them move to highlighted after you finish.

Gene,
Ok, I just followed your instructions, and those commands did turn off JAWS, and I typed words, and turned JAWS back on, and still JAWS is speaking every key I press. As far as searching for more commands of JAWS, I really don't want to do that, as I am slowly moving away from JAWS as my screen reader. I'm quite disappointed in JAWS 2021 as well as JAWS 2020, and this is the very first time in 25 years I didn't pay FS for the MSA. Although, because I did pay for JAWS 2021, I will need to call FS very soon because I can't even understand a word of what JAWS is saying on my Win 10, as it is a total mess, as well as Win 10, but because I already paied for JAWS 2021, I will try and get all I can from him.
Thank you for all your help as it is greatly appreciated.

You aren't using the correct command. You don't press them all at once. I
said insert space and I then said followed by s. Issue the command insert
and while holding insert, press space. Then release both keys. Type s.

There are many two part commands in JAWS using insert space as the first
command, then another letter as the second. I haven't used JAWS for years
so I don't know what they are in general, but some of them may be for things
you want to do. You may want to inquire about where you find a list of such
commands.

On many newer keyboards, the right hand windows key has been replaced by the fn key. When pressed in conjunction with the function keys, it makes them do various things like raising and lowering volume and, unfortunately, muting sound.

One method is to turn off speech, type, then turn it on again. To turn off
speech, the command is JAWS key space, followed by the letter s. The same
command again turns speech on again.

Subject: [TechTalk] Edit Field With Brave Browser Question Please.

Hi All,
Just for a few weeks maybe a month, everytime I type a search in the edit
field using Brave, it keeps typing every letter as well as every word. This
is driving me crazy. I have searched in the Brave settings, I've turned off
audo complete to see if that would make a difference, I've checked JAWS 2021
Echo settings, and he is set to speak nothing as I type, but nothing seems
to make a difference. Can someone please give me some suggestions as to how
I might rectify this issue before I pull out my hair. This current issue is
happening on Win 7 as well as Win 10.

Thank you in advance.

Janet

Peace Be With You.

I meant to write then move to highlighted when you are finished. But my guess may not be correct and JAWS reading what is highlighted may not be the cause of the problem.

I pay for it and use It as I use the wizard to upload things for a trading
group which trades radio stuff.
Also some of the list members there use sendspace to put up stuff too.

John,
I've paid for a Pro Sendspace account for several years, but it appears
Sendspace is really getting crappy, so I finally deleted my account with
them, and I'm glad I did! I wouldn't dare download from their site as a
free member as they have some pretty nasty worms in those ads!

I've paid for a sendspace Pro account for a wile now.
From what I could tell as a free user though there was a button which made
it obvious you were downloading a file.

But if you use Send Space, you need to tell those you are sending files to
who are free users how to use it safely. Unless you know how, hacked
advertising may be shown that may try to install malware. You need to know
how to use the site in such a way that you don't see advertising as a free
user.

Also, if you are sending a long file, free users have greatly restricted
download speeds. It may not matter, the person can just let the download
progress much more slowly than his actual speed, but if it does matter to
someone, there are other free alternatives.

I have a file I want to transfer to another person. What is an easy way to
do this? I tried WE transfer, but did not find it accessible.
