Oh sure, one can still use it, but the program will run much more smoothly when it receives updates. I myself use Outlook 2010, and it is barely hanging on. Something being out of support has nothing to do with how well it works unless conditions change over time such as a browser that is years old not being able to work with new Internet code. It may be that if something is out of support long enough, it won't work properly in a new version of Windows, but a lot of old programs still work well. I don't know if the history differs with an account. I have one without an account. I still have to enter the password but I can use the history to enter a room.
I don't have a ;particular opinion about whether an account is created, I'm saying that if the user wants to keep things more simple, for many people it isn't necessary.
I also think it should be mentioned here that after the client is installed, you should go to the test meeting page. I don't know if the link differs in different parts of the world but you can go here using the browser you want and launch a test meeting in The United States.
There is a join button on the page to start a test meeting, with you the only member. You can look around and play with the Zoom interface while the meeting is in progress and after the application is installed, people can tell you short cuts you might be interested in such as muting and unnmuting yourself, moving to the chat area, moving to the attendees list, and others.
You can test your received audio and your microphone. If you have trouble working with the page, ask about how to use it here.

No but there is no cost to create an account and there are some benefits. Retaining a meeting history is one such benefit. This means if you are attending a class, or other sinarios where you will be joining the same room more than once, you can do it through history instead of following the link in an email.

Hi Heather.
Since you’ve been using zoom off your iPhone I’m assuming you already have an account?
Go to the zoom web site:
Sign in with your email and password. You’ll next want to download the zoom meetings client and install it. You should then be able to follow a zoom link in an email to join a meeting. It’s a good idea to go through your audio settings to make sure it’s set to automatically connect to audio when you join the meeting. You won’t need a camera unless you want meeting participants to see you.
Jaws has better support for zoom than NVDA does if using jaws 2020 or 2021, There is also a training webinar on the freedom scientific web site that should give you all you need. Link is below.

I hope this helps. Please feel to reach out should you have other questions.
Cheers.

Many people use thunderbird. Many people still use Windows Live Mail, as far as I know. there is a Windows Mail App but someone else will have to discuss it in detail. the Windows Mail App is a simple program and you can't have message rules, if you want them.

Re: learning zoom

If you didn't download and install it, you don't have the application. What limitations you may have without the application, I don't know. I have no idea what you see when you move around when in a meeting, if you see things like the chat area, the members lists, and commands such as a mute/unmute button. I don't know if you can use Zoom without the application downloaded with any browsers. From what you say, it appears that you may be able to but I don't know anything about possibly using Zoom from within a browser.

I don't know what browser you are using nor what gave you the notice. If you are on the actual site, the problem itself needs to be solved. If it isn't, you may have problem after problem downloading legitimate files. As far as I know, the Microsoft store can't be used. This is not an app, it is an application.

Hi Heather.
Since you’ve been using zoom off your iPhone I’m assuming you already have an account?
Go to the zoom web site:
www.zoom.us
Sign in with your email and password.
Link is below.
using zoom with jaws
I hope this helps. Please feel to reach out should you have other questions.
Cheers.

Hello, I know how to use zoom off my i-devices but, I am going to be taking a class that requires me to use zoom off my computer. So is there anyone who can show me how to use zoom off the pc? Do I need to download zoom as an app threw the windows store; is it better to use jaws or NVDA; I want to use the brave browser like I have been using. Do I need a camera I currently do not have a camera access off my pc. I have a headset wired or Bluetooth.

I don't know if the link differs in different parts of the world but you can go here using the browser you want and launch a test meeting in The United States. https://zoom.us/test There is a join button on the page to start a test meeting, with you the only member. Gene

Re: learning zoom
chris judge
If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to ask.
One thing about settings on the zoom client for windows. When you are arrowing down through the options, you have to press enter to choose that option before tabbing in to it. I don’t think jaws tells you that and it can be a bit disconcerting. For instance, if you want to change audio settings, when you are arrowing down, press enter on audio, then tab in. You will probably have to choose what speakers and mic you are using here, especially if you are not planning to use the default sound source. Your best bet is a USB headset, wireless or otherwise. I have not used Bluetooth.
One more thing, I’m not sure if you are planning to do any hosting, but if you are I strongly suggest you purchase the professional jaws scripts for zoom. They were written by Brian Hartgen in the UK and they are always kept up to date. The scripts are a must if you want to have control over the participants list, waiting room, etc. If you are interested let me know and I will send you the link. I can also send you the documentation for the scripts so you can read about all the advantages of using them.
Good luck and please reach out if you require assistance.
Cheers.

Re: how do you add a signature to your outgoing messages in outlook 2010/?
Gene
Also, your experience with Outlook 2010 means nothing by itself in terms of concluding how the program runs in general. You can't generalize from one person's experience with one computer. That's why programs are beta tested by a large group of people. A program may work well on one machine and not as well or display a bug on another. I don't know anything about your specific machine. there may be something about it which causes the program not to run well. That doesn't mean it runs poorly in general.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
If it turns out that a lot of people report to us that the program no longer works well in Windows 10, that will support your position that that version of that specific program no longer works well often or ;perhaps on a lot or most machines. But we need enough reports to mean something before reaching a tentative conclusion. Gene

I'm sorry but you are just wrong about programs needing updates to continue to work smoothly. That is such a generalizationb that is wrong. Some programs that work well in Windows 7 don't work in Windows 10 or don't work well. Most programs do. I didn't say that programs will work forever as Windows changes. I have no idea how many programs that work well today and are not supported will do so in five years. I suspect many will. Re: Enabling line-in in Windows 10
Howard Traxler
Back in the day, the magnetic cartrage was the thing; whether it be
moving magnet or moving coil. This cartrage required an additional
stage of pre-amplification. Feeding it directly into a sound card
(to my knowledge) just wouldn't work. Hence I have a discrete
pre-amp for between the turntable and sound card; or my stereo
receiver has a magnetic cartrage input that does the same thing.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Back in the day, I was very critical of the sound that was produced; however, at my age, my hearing is not what it was andmost of my music listening is for background. So, sound doesn't need to be as good as 40 years ago. Howard

Re: how do you add a signature to your outgoing messages in outlook 2010/?

Perhaps you will believe others who may participate in the thread and tell you what I'm telling you. Gene

We all have to eventually update programs in order for them to work smoothly. One can only get so much out of a program when it is not supported. Oh sure, one can still use it, but the program will run much more smoothly when it receives updates. I myself use Outlook 2010, and it is barely hanging on. Why do you say it won't work efficiently? Something being out of support has nothing to do with how well it works unless conditions change over time such as a browser that is years old not being able to work with new Internet code. It may be that if something is out of support long enough, it won't work properly in a new version of Windows, but a lot of old programs still work well. Jim, I’m sorry to say, but MS has stopped supporting Outlook as of Oct 2020. You can still use it, but just don’t expect it to work efficiently though. You will need to upgrade this as well. Not much good news about MS and Outlook or Windows! LOL! What I would do with your PC, check the updates, if no updates, I would check the space on your PC, and set it up to do a reset, and be done with it. If something was to go wrong, you would blame me, and I couldn't blame you for that. When I say I would love to get my hands on that, I mean have the PC in my possession, so this way you couldn't blame me! Smile! Can you tell me what are the steps you use to check for the update on your PC? Janet
