Re: zoom meeting, help

David Mehler

Hello,

Ok, I've got the zoom app on my phone and also on the tablet. I'll
probably use the tablet, larger front screen. Anyway, I saw the sign
in link, I've got the meeting ID, and the passcode, can I use that
since I'm not sure how to get that long link to the tablet. Are there
any zoom settings I need to change?

Thanks.
Dave.

I've never used zoom on android and have only use it on the iPhone once so
not sure how you do things like mute yourself etc.
I know there is a test page but don't know the URL .
The test page will let you try things out before hand.
Zoom is pretty accessible on Windows and iOS so I'm guessing it'd e be the
case for android too though don't know for certain.

What device do you want to use? If you use a computer, its best to
download and install the application used by computers. If a phone, there
is an app.

I don't know what you might use for a tablet. I would think that
would depend on the operating system used by the tablet.

Hi Vicki:

I think Google podcasts will do that. Plus, if you like, you can just listen to the podcasts on the Google podcasts website from your computer or mobile device.

Hope that helps,

Re: Gmail folder pain question

david

no need to maximize folders;
try the following;

1, go to chrome browser,

2, tab enter on google apps collapsed,

3, down arrow enter on calendar,

4, tab until you hear;
my calendars collapsed or expanded,
you want them expanded,
so if collapsed, press spacebar to expand,
note: when using the tab key you will see, my calendars, and other
calendars,

most likely your Gmail calendar is checked,
tab enter on options,

5, down arrow enter on, settings and sharing,

6, you should see a link to the calendar,
tab enter on copy to clipboard,

Re: HP laptop : How to enter safe mode?

Janet

Hi Keith,

It’s good to see you out here again!  Smile!  You’re still having the same problem with your PC? I don’t think by using the safe mode will give you a fresh install of Windows 10.  I don’t think the safe mode has anything to do with that.  Keith, you remember I told you I bought a new Windows Laptop? Well, needless to say it is very slow, I’m not happy with it, JAWS has developed a speech impediment, I could just throw the Laptop as well as JAWS out the window.  Keith, I debated for at least 2 years if I wanted to buy a Windows Laptop, or an iPad, well, unfortunately, I picked Windows, and I have regretted it ever since!  So, I can sympathise with you right now.  Every time I get an update from Windows, my Laptop gets worse!  Keith, do you use a headphone or earbuds with your PC?

Hi, I was informed on this list that my installation of windows 10 is most likely damaged (I have previously posted the slowness using jaws and windows 10 and th lag and what not on the system.)

I was told that if I enter safe mode, I can choose to either  reinstall the windows 8 that came pre-installed on the laptop, or reinstall windows 10, since my cousin did the upgrade to windows 10 when microsoft was offering the upgrade for free from windows 8 to windows 10.

My question is how do I enter safe mode on an HP laptop.  I know that some name brand systems have different safe mode keys taht you have to push and hold while the system is booting up.

(I hae a netbook that uses the F8 key during startup to enter safe mode.

Anyone have a clue as to what I hold down on my HP laptop to enter  safe mode?

Many thanks

Re: gmail folder pain question

Yes, that’s the only way I can access this calendar. It doesn’t show my calendars so that I can expand it. I can pick days and it shows the game that’s on that day, but I know that’s not what  I need. I need the list of the calendars, wish these instructions had been made with screen reader users in mind.

Here's the text of the article:

See your Google Calendar in Outlook

Outlook for Microsoft 365 Outlook 2019 Outlook 2016 More...

By importing a snapshot of your Google calendar into Outlook, you can see it alongside other calendars in the Outlook Calendar View. To keep the imported calendar up-to-date, subscribe to the Google Calendar in Outlook. If you don’t, the only way to update it will be to import another, more current snapshot.

Tip: If you don't plan to use Google Calendar anymore but want to keep your events, you can import your Google Calendar to Outlook so all of your appointments are integrated into one Outlook calendar view.

Subscribe to your Google Calendar

An Internet Calendar (iCal) Subscription keeps your Outlook copy of your Google Calendar up-to-date.

  1. Log in to your Google Calendar account.
  2. In the left column, click My calendars to expand it, hover over the calendar that you want to add to Outlook as an Internet Calendar Subscription. Select the three dots to the right of the calendar name, then select Settings.

  1. Scroll down to the Integrate Calendar section and right click on Secret address in iCal format and select Copy.
  2. In Outlook, click File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
  3. On the Internet Calendars tab, click New.

  1. Paste the address you copied in step 4, by pressing CTRL+V, and click Add.

  1. In the Folder Name box, type the name of the calendar as you want it to appear in Outlook, and then click OK.

When you start Outlook, it checks Google Calendar for updates and downloads any changes. If you keep Outlook open, it also periodically checks for and downloads updates. (Google Calendar tells Outlook how often to check for updates.)

Note: Changes you make in Outlook aren’t sent to your Google Calendar. To update your Google calendar, open Google Calendar from a browser.

Import a calendar from Google Calendar

  1. Log in to your Google Calendar account.
  2. In the left column, click My calendars to expand it, click the arrow button next to the calendar that you want to import into Outlook, and then click Calendar Settings.

  1. Under Private Address, click ICAL.

  1. In the Calendar Address dialog box, click the web address of the calendar.

  1. When prompted, click Open to import the calendar into Outlook.

The calendar opens in side-by-side view in the Outlook Calendar. It’s also added to the Navigation Pane in Calendar view, under Other Calendars.

Note: The imported calendar is a static snapshot. To update it, you need to subscribe to it or repeat this procedure to import a copy of the most current version of your calendar in Google Calendar.

I'm not sure if I can help.  Others probably can.

Are you saying you press enter on the calendars tab and then can't find what you

are looking for?  I don't have a calendars tab.  I don't know why but from what

you say, evidently you do.

I don't know if it would help.  there is a problem with my GMail and, for some

reason, I can only use simple HTML.  Are you using simple HTML or the other

setting?  I don't remember its name.

I'm trying to find my calendars under the calendars tab, I'm trying to subscribe

my google calendar to Outlook. I have instructions, but I just can't get to the

my calendars tab/button. I can send the link for the instructions if that would

help.

What are you trying to do?  If we know that, we can address the actual problem,

not just how you want to try to solve it, which may or may not be necessary or a

good solution.

Subject: [TechTalk] gmail folder pain question

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me how to maximize my folder pain on the gmail website and have

it stay that way? I'm trying to do something but it's not showing up and someone

on another list (which clearly isn't for screen reader users) suggested that I

maximize my folder pain. I'm using latest Jaws and Edge. Thanks Madison
