Re: if you were getting a new computer.

I doubt programs are getting that much bigger. Since I haven't seen this elsewhere, I'll put it in the interesting category but I'd want a good deal more verification. And even if they are, I am not convinced that justifies getting more than 8GB for the average user. You can add this expense and that expense until you are spending one-hundred or two or three hundred dollars more than you have to and derive no meaningful benefit.

https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/much-ram-really-need/

Regarding digital drives, they are so fast to start with that even if the larger drives are faster, does that matter? What are we talking about, perhaps half a second speed difference to load a program? and can you document that larger digital drives will last longer and that it matters? Digital drives, from what I've readd will generally last far longer than the computer using them so I remain to be convinced.

Regarding price, following your recommendations for a hard drive and for RAM, how much more money would you be spending?

As I said though, programs are getting bigger. I'd go with at 16 gb if budget allowed to be safe. But the 512 drives have more write capacity before they have to be replaced, and also faster write performance.

At a bare minimum, go for gigabit ethernet options, 8 gb of dual channel ram, an ssd of at least 512 gb, 1tb if you can aford it, even if you don't use 1tb the 1tb drive has a much higher write speed and endurance. When using a smart toy to join a Zoom meeting, particularly in Androidville,
just tap on JOIN MEETING button, enter the meeting ID and Passcode assuming
the latter is provided, tap on Join and have fun. On occasions, NO
PASSCODES are needed for a Zoom meeting, just the meeting ID. The host
determines whether or not both are needed.

You should only worry about typing the URL provided if you're JOINING A ZOOM

Hi, I was informed on this list that my installation of windows 10 is most likely damaged (I have previously posted the slowness using jaws and windows 10 and th lag and what not on the system.)

My question is how do I enter safe mode on an HP laptop.  I know that some name brand systems have different safe mode keys taht you have to push and hold while the system is booting up.

Why don't you use the reset option in Windows 10 which doesn't rely on safe

Hi, I was informed on this list that my installation of windows 10 is most likely damaged (I have previously posted the slowness using jaws and windows 10 and th lag and what not on the system.)

I was told that if I enter safe mode, I can choose to either  reinstall the windows 8 that came pre-installed on the laptop, or reinstall windows 10, since my cousin did the upgrade to windows 10 when microsoft was offering the upgrade for free from windows 8 to windows 10.

My question is how do I enter safe mode on an HP laptop.  I know that some name brand systems have different safe mode keys taht you have to push and hold while the system is booting up.

(I hae a netbook that uses the F8 key during startup to enter safe mode.

Anyone have a clue as to what I hold down on my HP laptop to enter  safe mode?

Many thanks

Why don't you use the reset option in Windows 10 which doesn't rely on safe
mode and will place a clean Windows 10 on the machine.

You should also test your speakers/microphone to make sure they are set to use during the meeting. In addition, it is recommended that you use a headset for best results.

I can't comment on the tablet app. On the desktop application, open zoom
and tab around. It should be selfexplanatory what to enter where. Enter
the first item in whatever that field is and the pass code, the same as a
pass word, in the second field which I believe says passcode. You can move
through whatever is their by tabbing.

Enter the information, then tab to whatever is appropriate, I think there is
a join meeting button. I do it but I don't particularly try to remember
exact wording.

Try entering the information and joining the meeting. Even though the
meeting isn't going on now, you should get to some sort of waiting screen if
you enter the information correctly.

Hello,

Ok, I've got the zoom app on my phone and also on the tablet. I'll
probably use the tablet, larger front screen. Anyway, I saw the sign
in link, I've got the meeting ID, and the passcode, can I use that
since I'm not sure how to get that long link to the tablet. Are there
any zoom settings I need to change?

Thanks.
Dave.

I've never used zoom on android and have only use it on the iPhone once so
not sure how you do things like mute yourself etc.
I know there is a test page but don't know the URL .
The test page will let you try things out before hand.
Zoom is pretty accessible on Windows and iOS so I'm guessing it'd e be the
case for android too though don't know for certain.

What device do you want to use? If you use a computer, its best to
download and install the application used by computers. If a phone,
there
is an app.

I don't know what you might use for a tablet. I would think that
would depend on the operating system used by the tablet.

On the iPhone, I have the number, comma, code, comma, pound sign already posted, so that I just punch call.

Mute and Unmute with *6; raise your hand with *1.
