That’s odd that it can’t find the host…

That could explain it but why would  it not find the host on a 7 box but on a 10 box work fine?

Hi Mike.  If you know the direct address of the site's download page, please do the following and email me the results.

go to your command prompt ant type:

ping followed by the download page's address.  Once you hear any output from the screen reader, press Alt+space and arrow up or down to edit, then to select all.  Then get to edit again in the same way and look for copy.  Then go to notepad, paste the results and email the text to me.  I should be able to tell you what to do after reading the result of your ping.  HTH and Cheers!

Hi Ron,

I'm using the onboard Realtek ethernet connection and no I haven't done a disk check for errors since the downloading issue is the only problem this computer is having, that I can tell anyways.

I don't know when this problem started since this computer is at our 2nd home and we haven't been coming here as often because of the pandemic.  I do know it happened within the last 3 months, but when or why, I sure don't have a clue.

also, I am wondering if you have done a de fragment or error check on the problem computer?

Re: NVDA keyboard list

I'm not saying this to comment on whether you should make your own list, but it should be noted that the Quick Command Reference in NVDA help doesn't list windows or program commands. All commands are NVDA commands.

So maybe they should say windows keyboard commands with NVDA instead of NVDA commands. Thak you all for your help! Cheers Heather

I really object to what I've seen of this list. it mixes Windows commands

with screen-reader commands and doesn't indicate or explain the difference.

For example, say next carachter is given as right arrow or numpad 3. These

are completely different commands. Right arrow is a windows movement

command when working with an application cursor. Numpad 3 is an NVDA

command. it moves within the object or in review mode and doesn't move you

in the document. Right arrow moves you in the document and announces where

you have moved. This is not the way NVDA commands should be presented.

NVDA commands are not Windows or program commands and they should be given

as completely separate commands and program commands should not be included

in such lists.

Go Contact Sync Mod set-up wizard question

Madison Martin

Hi all,
Is there anyone on hear who has experience using Go Contact Sync Mod? The reason
that I ask is because I just downloaded and installed it, but I have a question
about something in the set-up wizard. I have multiple Google calendars within my
Google account, and I've checked the box to sync appointments, but I want to
know is there a way for me to select all of the calendars at once, or will I
have to select each one individually? If so, then I assume it's possible for me
to keep going back into the set-up wizard? Really hope someone can help me, as
there isn't any tech support for this. Using latest builds of Jaws and Windows
10. Thanks for any help anyone can provide me!!!!!!!!

I do not see this issue with JAWS 2021 and 365 outlook app. One thing you can try if you have not already is to repair your office product. You can do this by going to add or remove programs, find Microsoft office, press space to expand the options, tab over to advanced  options and activate it, in here you should see various options of what you can do with this application, one should be repair or you can also reset it. Hope this helps.

Subject: [TechTalk] Strange issue in Office, could it be Jaws at fault?

Hi folks.  Just writing to inform you of a problem I have encountered but have just learned the cause and I wondered if it is peculuar to me or if others have at some point had the same experience.

Let me explain myy set up:  I have two Win10 machines and 2 Win7 machines.  On the Win7 I am running office 2010 and on the Win10 machines I'm running Office 2019.  On these 4 machines I have NVDA & Jaws 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2019.  each of the computers has a couple of versions of Jaws and of course in Win10 I also have narrator.

OK, that's the set up, now for the issue.

When in outlook (2010 or 2019) and have finished writing an email and want to check it out so use the spell checker I get an error message.  I can't remember the wording but the essence is thatwhen the programme was being installed some macro settings were not instaled.  I also get an error message in Word when I want to save a document, different from the outlook error, this one says that authorisation wasn't completed but it was. When the message appears and providing I do not touch any other key then pressing enter removes the message.  I had my computer guy round this morning installing some stuff and he checked it out and although he spent around half an hour trying to figure it out by accident we discovered a conflict with Jaws, any version of Jaws.  When Jaws is turned off and he uses the mouse then the spell checker works flawlessly and when I use NVDA then the same is true but when I turn Jaws back on I once more get the error message.

Now I know the cause it isn't so much of a concern as I only need press enter when the error message pops up but I am wondering; am I the only one who has had this experience?  It happens on all 4 computers, Win7 and Win10, On two different versions of Office and only happens when Jaws is active and any of the four versions I've mentioned.  Most interested to know if I'm the only one experiencing this.  Walter.

Re: NVDA keyboard list

I really object to what I've seen of this list. it mixes Windows commands with screen-reader commands and doesn't indicate or explain the difference.
For example, say next carachter is given as right arrow or numpad 3. These are completely different commands. Right arrow is a windows movement command when working with an application cursor. Numpad 3 is an NVDA command. it moves within the object or in review mode and doesn't move you in the document. Right arrow moves you in the document and announces where you have moved. This is not the way NVDA commands should be presented. NVDA commands are not Windows or program commands and they should be given as completely separate commands and program commands should not be included in such lists.

Hello, does anyone know where I can find a file for NVDA commands. I am working with a person and they find the guide overwhelming that comes in the NVDA user guide. I wish they would just have all the commands separated. I know why they did the guide like they did by listing all the commands touch, laptop and desktop. But, this person just wants the commands for a desktop and not all the other info. They are very overwhelmed with to much info and they do not know how to skip the info they do not need.

I do not want them to be discouraged and I want them to use their computer. If anyone knows where I can find an NVDA command file list, please let me know. Thank you, Heather
