Will the Pixel 4A with 5G get the latest talk Back and will it support the multi finger gestures?
Thanks, Marie

I’d rather get a Windows tablet.

I’d like an idea of the price of a good Windows tablet.

Gene, I don't think you could find an iPad for less than a computer for the blind, but you could an Amazon Kindle, or for maybe the same price. Also, the RCA Pro is an Android tablet. I just simply, literally despised the keyboard that came with the one I had though. I thought it was clumsy and sluggish. I never gain proficiency on it, like I have, on all thingds, the screen one on my iPhone. It could be that I have worked harder on the iPhone, and had more information about how to use it than I did the one on that tablet. Nevertheless, the RCA Pro is a good buy, if they still have them.

Because of my tablet experience, I had no intention of getting a keyboard for my iPhone, and another reason for that was to have to have some kind of peripheral with it. On the tablet, the keyboard was attached, but it could be removed, and you could use just the touch screen, which was a big one, probably almost the size of one of a desk top.

While I don’t know how many people have good experiences or bad, since I don’t want to upgrade to Windows 10 and I don’t want to spend much money to gget something I don’t want, I may gamble on a purchase.  the worst that can happen is that I loose something like $150 on a laptop and I’d rather gamble and hope to win.

You’re  not gonna find a Windows tablit anywhere near as cheap as Computers for the blind.

The cheapeast iPad isn’t that cheap either.

Question about Live Captioning in a Zoom meeting

Sharon Hooley

Hi,

I know that live captioning can be used in Zoom, but I don't remember which one is considered the best. Is it Scribe for Meetings? As I understand it, you need to have a paid subscription for this one, so is there a free or one-time cost program that's most reliable?

Thanks,

Hello listers, I have recently begun to encounter a really annoying issue with UAC when using my laptop. No matter how many times I try and enter the correct password when getting any sort of UAC prompt, I’m told the password is incorrect. This also happens when I try and use another account on this machine. I should mention that I don’t use this machine very often but I’m pretty sure I’m entering the correct passwords. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to solve this one?

Thanks.

Re: Is this a Scam or Fishing Email, or is it real?

Gene

If you are talking about the address that appears in the from line, that is meaningless.  it can be spooffed to show any address desired and it can’t be distinguished from an authentic address.  If it were that easy, I would have read account after account of how to see the real address over the years.  The absence of even one article stating this makes me very skeptical of what you are saying.  If you are discussing something else, such as the address being shown somewhere buried in the full message headers, that people generally don’t see, while I can’t rule it out, again, I’m very skeptical.  Why haven’t I seen this discussed anywhere in all the years I’ve been reading about spam detection and how to protect yourself.

Before worrying about whether anything is a scam or not, check the email
address from whence came the email. Ignore the name shown, like if it
says "Federal Express <blah-blah@...>," and you are sure it's not
from FedEx, look at the real email address. How to do that depends on
your email client. For example, in Thunderbird, there's a way to copy
just the email address to the clipboard, and from there you can paste it
somewhere and really look at it. I can't tell you how many times I've

originating address is really something with a .ru (Russia) or .ro

Hi Chris,

What do you know?  I tried this again and it worked.  I didn’t even have to type anything in as delete row and add row came up as I arrowed down. Every once in a while I have this problem.  I should learn but I guess I forget.  It is indeed a simple way to do what I need.

Hi. Are you using excel 2016? If so there is a nifty little feature that can help you get most thinks done even if you don’t know the keystroke. I use it all the time and it works in all office 2016 applications. To delete a row in excel, focus on the row. Next, press altQ. This will bring up a search field. Type delete row, then arrow down. You should hear, delete sheet rows. Press enter and the row should go away.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Re: do you have to have a Microsoft account to run office 365?

Steve Matzura

If MS says you have one, then you must have used an email address to set it up initially. Try logging in with your email address, but instead of supplying a password, use the "I forgot my password" control, whatever it's called, retrieve your password, and reactivate the account.

It looks like it but thought I’d check. Microsoft says I have one already, and I don’t know how to get into it. Jim so, I will need some help.

Issues with user accounts and passwords in Windows 10

Mary Smith

Hello listers, I have recently begun to encounter a really annoying issue with UAC when using my laptop. No matter how many times I try and enter the correct password when getting any sort of UAC prompt, I’m told the password is incorrect. This also happens when I try and use another account on this machine. I should mention that I don’t use this machine very often but I’m pretty sure I’m entering the correct passwords. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to solve this one?

Thanks.
Mary.

Thanks for all who advised me about this Fishing Email.

Usually, I just ignore Fishing messages, but this one I wasn't sure about, and I couldn't call my Provider, as it was after hours.

Thanks again,

Grumpy Dave
