I suspect the update corrupted something in the registry. It might be far easier to use the pin to task bar method than try to correct the problem.

1. Go to your C:\Windows directory.
2. Hit the letter N or the letters N and O quickly until you hear "NotePad".
3. Press your applications key

Yes this is good too, and I did use the search to get to open Notepad, but that just seems like going all around the Christmas Tree! Although, I will keep this in mind. Thank you so much!

Another way to start notepad is to hit the windows key and R for “Run”, and then type notepad into the box that pops up.
Or press the Windows key to bring up the search box, and start typing

I’m not sure why the shortcut doesn’t work but there is another very convenient way to open Notepad. I don’t have Windows 10 so I’m not sure my instructions from Windows 7 would match
