That may be to a poingt and under certain conditions. But generalizing is misleading. I can think of one or two examples where it is safer to download a file. Let’s say you have a Word attachment

Hi all,
Gene, it is more dangerous to open a file while it is still on the web. If you download it, you have more control over it. If you open it from your email, no matter who sends it, even if it

Re: Attachments in emails
Antivirus programs with realtime protection scan attachments when they are downloaded, or if you set the program not to scan mail, it will still scan the attachment when you give the open command.

I don’t see how saving, then opening an attachment is more dangerous than just opening it, except for one way, which I’ll discuss later. If you can see the file extension of the attachment, you

Thanks Josh. It wasn't pluto tv I had before, but the only channel I'm really looking for is the gameshow network so if pluto has that that's good enough. The other site I had had a lot more

Re: Attachments in emails
What makes a saved attachment more secure than one just opened without saving? If one was dangerous, my guess would be it would be dangerous to open even after saved. Please correct me, if I'm wrong,

Re: Attachments in emails
My attachments are usually work related and from a reliable source
Therefore I have no problems opening them straight from the email
I would never open an email that came from an unknown source

Re: Attachments in emails
Hi all,
What you are doing is actually dangerous. Never just open an attachment. Always save attachments. You can delete them after you read them.

Re: Thunderbird Issue
Hi Shelly,
To turn off and on virtual cursor is a toggle. This means that if you press insert + Z when the virtual cursor is on, it turns it off and if you press it again, it turns it back on.
