I heard that some of the Ubiquity Edge Router stuff has this capability, and a show suggested that one of them was as low as $49. It may not be able to run open source firmware though, but they

Also, even if you plan on cloning the drive, I would still suggest that you
create an image just in case it fails or gets worse before the new one
arrives.

Re: Internal hard drives and cloning
I'm going to try and order the new drive tomorrow just to be on the safe side.
I'm trying to avoid having to restart this thing because when I do, it takes forever to boot.

Well you could press alt+space, go to the edit menu, select all, and then select copy from the same place.
Thanks.

If you can still use the drive by the time the new one arrives, then most
likely it should be fine. Especially if you use XXCLONE which performs file
based cloning instead of sector based like most

I wasn't able to copy the result so I could paste it here but one of the first things I heard was fail. The rest of the options were ok.

I'm going to get the extra cable because you never know if I might need it in the future. I hope I don't have to do this again for a few years. Lol

I assume that once the drive is installed, the cloning process can begin, correct? Once cloning is complete, I would assume that I would just replace the old hd with the newly cloned drive. I would

Re: Internal hard drives and cloning
Yes, you would just mount/install it as a secondary internal drive.
Although since you will be using it as a replacement for the primary drive,
you don't necessarily have to bother fully mounting it.
