I saw after a google search it is a toggle.
I am still learning zoom and I did not know the host can lower your hand.
I didn't even know there was a lower command until I saw it either lol.

Sorry, but this is unclear in the extreme.
It's alt-y to raise your hand and alt-y to lower it again. It's a toggle.
Sorry, don't know the Mac commands, but I think it's command-y.

As far as I know, you don't have to. The host sees it and responds or doesn't but I've not seen anything about lowering it and it should have been mentioned in the discussions I've seen if you had
