Which may affect the price of or be relevant to
market share and the price of items in future but which isn't now and will
increase over time. And a lot of people who will have vision loss in
future will use low vision items and won't be blind.

Re: World population and blindness percentage to the world population
Gerald Levy
So as the blind population increases, the demand for products and services to serve their needs will also increase. And as demand increases, prices for these products and services should decrease, right? Only in your dreams. Does anyone seriously believe that Freedom Scientific is going to lower the price of JAWS as more and more people come to rely on it? I don't think so. And as the visually impaired population grows, shouldn't there be an ever-increasing number of accessible products to meet their need? On the contrary, the number of accessible products has been steadily decreasing, not increasing. Ten years ago, for instance, the Independent Living Aids catalog offered four talking and accessible microwave ovens. Today, it offers none, even though there are probably more visually impaired people in the general population than there were ten years ago. The same is true of other appliances. There are fewer "blind-friendly" appliances on the market today than there were just a few years ago, even though the blind and visually impaired population has been increasing.

New extra large mouse pointers
Quentin Christensen
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something very big I've been working on recently - a massive update to my extra large mouse pointers: http://www.22point.com.au/cursors.html Where previously there were 4 different sets of cursors available, there are now..... over 170! AND, each "pack" now doesn't just include one set, but four! There are a heap of new colours and styles to choose from so there's sure to be something for everyone - including some smaller and more discreet ones for those who don't necessarily want the extra large ones. Do let me know what you think as I've put a heap of work into it and I hope you like it. All of the new sets are now available to purchase, although please allow a bit of extra delivery time (up to a day) during this first week as demand is quite high on these very highly anticipated new mouse pointers. Also if you've purchased any of the original sets from me previously you should have received an update of those, and for those who responded to my recent survey, an e-mail was also sent to you with your free gift. Finally, I wrote a blog piece this week on, not Windows directly, but Microsoft Office and some new options which make it even easier to see: https://22point.wordpress.com/2016/02/25/microsoft-office-has-a-new-black-theme/ Kind regards Quentin. -- 22 Point Home of the "Making Windows 10 Easy to See" eBooks and online community! - http://www.22point.com.au/publications.html Web: http://www.22point.com.au Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/22Point Twitter: https://twitter.com/22PointApps

World population and blindness percentage to the world population
Matt
well ask Siri what was the world population and she said it was about 7.3 billon. Then I ask her the number of blind population in the world, she said 161 million low vision and blind people in the world. So this in round figures is 2.5 percent off the population. This is round figures so being very generous and saying 3percent is low vision and blind. Which this was about what I thought. So the number of even legal blind people would be much less . So just some interesting facts to consider when we talk about blindness and prices of things and accessibility of things.

Re: winamp question
Gene
You can do it but you may get more or less
information depending on your screen-reader. Also, you may have to install
an add on for your screen-reader to get information. What screen-reader
are you using? The procedure to change the Winamp equalizer is as
follows:
Open Winamp. Start it playing
something.
It doesn't have to be playing but you won't hear
the changes while you are making them if it isn't.
Move into the equalizer window with control
tab.
Turn on the equalizer with the letter n. I
don't recall if 1 through 9 or 1 through 0 on the main keyboard raises bands of
audio. I think it's 1 through 0 which would give you a ten band
equalizer.
To lower the bands, use the letter keys below the
number keys. For example, as I recall, q will lower the lowest base range
and 1 will raise it.
Once finished adjusting the equalizer, you can
close the window with control f4.
Use control tab to return to the main window.
you can leave the settings as they are and turn off the equalizer by opening the
equalizer Window, alt g, control tabbing into it, and then pressing the letter n
to turn it off. N turns it on or off. (It's a toggle.
You can then close the window if you wish, as
described above.

I've just got my PC back after having a new motherboard and a new power supply fitted. In installing jaws I notice that when I enter a folder it doesn't give me the correct number of files, or folders in a particular folder. For example I have an audio book drive and I know there is thirteen and a half thousand books in there but when I open the drive/folder it will say the first file/folder is one of 19 and if i go down it gives me different values. So if it says the first file is one of 19 and then I go down another 18 files/folders then it should read 19 of 19 but it will say something like 36 of 54. I've gone into the view menu and checked the list option but it has made no difference. Does anybody know how to get Jaws to announce how to pronounce the correct value such as 5,390 of 10,460 or 6,243 of 13,498 etc please. Your help would be valued. Walter.
