Re: Google Assistant on the GoFlip 3
Gene
Do you hae a data plan? If you only have a
talk and text plan, it won't work. Also, you don't just hold the ok
button.
Open the Google assistant. I want to make
sure you know about that. I wrote about it a number of days ago but
whether it was to you and on this list, I can't be sure.
When you are on the home screen, press the left
arrow once. You should hear maps spoken.
Up arrow once to assistant. Press
ok.
Wait until you hear the sound and feel the
vibration that tells you the assistant is opened. Then press ok and hold
it. I think you only need to hold it for perhaps half a second but if that
isn't long enough, hold it a little longer.
I don't know what you are asking or telling the
assistant so I don't know if the assistant will do whtever you are
trying.
I'll answer further questions but I'll wait to see
what you say or what you report happens.
I haven't discussed using the assistant to text in
this message and because there are two basic ways of doing this, I'll look at
the ways again when you want to know how to do it.

thunderbird updating automatically
Troy Burnham
Hi all,
How do I keep thunderbird from updating automatically? I was briefly updated to version 78 something and when I looked under tools and options there was a radio button for download but let me decide to update. That's what I want but now that I've uninstalled 78 and went back and installed a version of 68 that I have I can't find that option. Thanks. Troy

Re: KaiOS Algotel Go Flip3

I haven't found a way to get that information
anywhere in the interface. While I suspect it could be gotten somehow, I
suspect it would take some sort of special command. I doubt it is sent to the screen in accessible form.

Talking Battery Chargers
Steve Matzura
Does such a thing still exist? I have one I bought from APH years ago. It was one of the last ones they had, and it speaks in Spanish, which gave me a quick lesson in certain technical terms I never knew before (LOL). It does a fine job, but I'd like a second unit of similar kind--something that can analyze a battery similarly to how the modern-day PowerX chargers do, and also be able to select each cell's charge type--trickle, drain and fill, etc., also like the PowerX's do. Are there any such devices these days with speech output, or I'd even take Bluetooth connectivity if the iOS application is usable.

SQUARE CASHAPP: A QUESTION OR TWO
Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.
Hello All:
I'm hoping that any number of us in the House use the Cash App from Square. I have an issue that I can't seem to resolve. Here's the scenario: I was trying to MAKE A PAYMENT to someone using CashApp. I tapped on the Pay Button, entered the recipient's info, and, when it was time to tap on the Pay Button to send it through, a message in the app window stated that I had not sent funds to the said individual before; it then asked if I'd like to add the individual to My Contacts. I tapped on YES hoping everything would be good to go; no dice. Now here are my questions: 1. Using the CashApp, can one only send/transfer funds to people in one's contacts? 2. Does anyone know a good contact E-mail address for CashApp's tech support? I didn't find one either online or in the app. In general, I don't KEEP ANY CONTACTS on any of my toys. Anyhow, I look forward to reading your thoughts, much thanks for all help. Sincerely, Olusegun Denver, Colorado

The instructions on google say to highlight what you want to pin and right click it and go to more and then to pin to taskbar, and I'm using the right mouse button to right click but when I tried it yesterday I was constantly getting the wrong thing pinned although I knew I was highlighted on jaws to start, then as I'm trying it this morning something totally different is happening and the same menu isn't even opening up when I right click. What am I missing? I've done this successfully before although it wasn't with the most updated version of windows 10. Thanks. Troy

episode 11 of blind android users is now ready for you to listen.
Thank you for joining us on Episode 11.
In this episode, we touched a little bit more on Android 12, especially on the fact that, the two-finger hold-down to enable accessibility upon booting up the phone has been removed, leaving only the two-volume key hold-down. This is a review of android 12 after using for 2 days. We were also delighted to report that Eloquence still works on the Android 12 Developer Preview 1 and all the apps that I, Warren has on my phone, including KNFB reader, surprisingly work. We also touched on the fact that in Android 12, for those who rely on magnification, there is now an option to only magnify portions of the screen or a given area on the screen. We then did a short demo of KNFB reader which surprisingly works on android 12 dp1. Then for the app of the week section, we did a demo about National Park Service App (NPS) this app is only useful for people in the USA. About magnification, our guest, Pete Torking from the UK, demonstrated Keypass, a password management app and in the process, mentioned other password management apps, including sites that would let you know if one of your passwords have been compromised. when Pete did a demonstration of keypass and other apps, you will not hear talkback as he uses magnification. But he has given a detailed step by step description of what you should do. We will do a demo of these apps with talkback shortly. The conversation also touched on data breach sites that would let you know if your email is out there with your passwords and those sites are: "Have I Been Pwned" from: https://haveibeenpwned.com/ "Breach Directory" from: https://breachdirectory.tk/ Pete then proceeded to tell us about his Android Journey story. It was a joy having Pete and as always, we would love for you guys to come on live or via a recording and tell us your Android Journey stories. For questions, suggestions or comments, send us mail at: contactus@... To join our mailing list, send those "join requests" to: blindandroidusers_subscribe@groups.io If you have a recorded Android Journey story and want to share that with our listeners, then send those stories to: myandroidjourney@... You may follow us on twitter using our handle: @BlindDroidUsers We do have a Telegram group that you can join and share stories or whatever with our members at: https://t.me/ANATAD untill next week, stay safe.

Thanks Gene. Since I found out I had to have the reinstall done I started thinking about the portable thunderbird because I lost my entire address book and will have to rebuild it slowly as messages come in since I don't remember most of the addresses I had. As you said if I had been using portable thunderbird all along it would've saved me part of the headache of reinstalling some of the programs that I'm now having to install since I would've already had thunderbird ready to go.

Blind Android Users podcast team apologizes for the shortterm unavailability of episode 10, lets welcome android 12 due to false copywrite clames filed by 2 individuals wanting to distroy the community
Dear friends,
first of all, we dont like to bring such things to the community but we thought as members of the community you all should know what is going on. we are writing to apologize to those of you who have noted the missing episode 10 of our podcast that became unavailable on Sunday, 21. 2 individuals who are not happy that our podcast has following, false filed a report with our podcast host, claiming that our podcast has infringed on their intellectual property. Our host, who fell for their claim, took immediate action, pulling down the episode. These very same individuals have been fighting tooth and nail to destroy, not only our podcast but our mailing list ever since we started and this unrelenting effort, finally paid off for them when an episode of ours got taken down. I am however, delighted to report that we reached out to our host and not only is the episode back on, but they have reinstated it to the date that it was posted--Feb. 19. as the clame was fraudulent Again, I want to thank you all for sticking it out with us and it's a shame that it is our own blind people who are doing everything possible to destroy another effort from another group of people who like themselves, are also blind! I believe that there's room for all of us to do what we want to do as we serve our blind communities, but there's absolutely no reason, whatsoever, for another blind group, bent at destroying the efforts of others, in the quest of wanting to be the only podcast for the blind. This cannot be, and anyone with a good conscience will see this for what it is. I am not asking you folks to leave their group or anything like that, rather, I leave it to you to come to your own conclusion as to whether or not, this is the type of group that you would like to be part of--a group that is bent on destroying the very effort that is intended on helping the very same blind communities that we all are serving. Again, my apologies for the little detraction that led to the interruption of our last episode. the episode can now be found at www.blindandroidusers.com

Read messages using simpl html. Open the view
menu, alt v.
Down arrow to message body as and press
enter.
Arrow up and down to find simple html and press
enter. The menus will close and the problem will be solved.
I've been advising people to use the portable
version of thunderbird and to back it up. This is a good illustration of
why. If you use the installed version, you had to place the address book
in the program you installed and you have to make any settings changes again you
had already made. You also have to set up your account or account
again. If you were using the portable version and it was backed up, you
could simply copy the folder to your machine and begin using it with no more
work.
