Hi George,

See if one of the notes below will help:

Hello Everyone:
Is there a keystroke I can invoke to temporarily turn off speech in
Window-Eyes?  For example, if a sighted person wants to use my computer for
a brief moment; I don't want to unload Window-Eyes, I just want to turn the
speech off.  Gracious thanks for all help.
Sincerely,
Olusegun
From: Dave Bahr
use the speech mode toggle app, I use it all the time when I dictate or someone needs to use the computer.
Dave

From: Rod Hutton
Hi Olusegan,

If you're running a version of WE equal to or greater than 8.0, Insert-M
will toggle the volume mute status of the default sound card.

I also wrote an app called RodMasterVolumeMuteToggler for those running
WE versions below 8.0.
hth,
Rod

From: Walt Cone
You can also set up a hotkey with toggle all voices.  It is in the hotkeys
under miscelanious voices.  The key is unassigned and I gave it the key
combination insert-control-1 and it will shut off speech.  Press it again
and it will turn speech back on.
Walt

From: Chris Grabowski Hi,
After version 8.0 the default hotkey ws changed to control-windows-m.

If you had upgraded from 8.0 it is possibl your hotkey is still insert-m.
If you downloaded the window-eyes for office version or install a full
8.4 then the hotkey is windows-control-m.
To find out the mute toggle hotkey to use on your system do the
following.
1.  Press control-backslash for the Window-eyes control panel.

2.  Press alt-a for the apps menu.

3.  Press up arrow to move to Windows Enhance and press enter.

4.  arrow to help and press enter.

5.  Press alt-k to move to the hotkey manager.

6.  Press tab twice.

Note: the help text still says insert-m for mute.  This will be updated
in the next version of the Windows Enhance app, this is why I included
the steps above.
Thanks
Chris

From: Curtis Delzer
Problem is that if you toggle the mute condition of your sound card for
"speech off" you're turning off all sounds for anyone else until they
"toggle speech on" with control-windows-m.  If you set up a hot key for
window eyes speech, then you won't have this condition where the other
user will not have the sounds.
Curtis Delzer.

You have to type in the wildcard.
so in the source box
path:\to\files\*.html
then in the next box
path:\to\text\files\*.txt

There is a radio button pair.
Single file
or
Multiple files
I think if you shift tab twice from the first edit box you land in upon opening the program, you will find it.

HtmlAsText program question

Keith S

Hi, was told the program HtmlAsText would convert HTML files to text files, which it does, individually.

The following line is from the read-me file, and I cannot get the program to covert multiple files at once, (aka batch converting):

* You can convert multiple HTML files in the same folder at once, by

using wildcard. (e.g.:

c:\files\*.html)

Anyone use this program and if so, what setting do I adjust to allow the conversion of multiple .htlm files into .txt format?

Many thanks in advance.

Keith

Settings Center Default All Applications.

2. Down arrow to, Speech Verbosity closed, right arrow to open.  Down arrow 1 time to hear what Verbosity Level you're running.

3. Down arrow to, Configure Verbosity Levels closed, right arrow to open.

4. Down arrow to the level you're running, Beginner..., and press the spacebar to open.  Note, do not press enter because if you press enter Settings Center

Hello,

When I’m navigating File Explorer in Windows 10, JAWS reads the
highlighted item and then gives me the number in its list. For
example, ABC File, 3 of 10. How can I get it to just read the item,
minus the sequential number? Thanks in advance.

In NVDA settings, in the object presentation section, you will find a setting that says something like object ;position information.  Turn it off by unchecking the check box with the space bar.

On my computer, I opened up file explorer.  Then, I hit insert-V and tabbed once to the tree view of settings.  Mine landed on touch cursor options open.  I hit left arrow once to close that, arrowed down once to general, hit right arrow to open general.  Arrow to the right once to verbosity which says intermediate.  Hit space bar until it says advanced, then tab to okay and hit enter.  I'm sure that someone will have a better idea, but this worked for me.

I believe you meant 8Gigs below regarding your memory and the stopping and starting may be due to WiFi? Are you using WiFi? Or is your machine hardwired?

It wouldn’t play fine though using repeat for these reasons if they were actually causing the issue which it does not seem so based on that fact.

I guess use the repeat option until it gets figured/solved.
