Re: HP laptop : How to enter safe mode?
so to do a reset, and no that wont revert you back to windows 8.
first things first, backup all the data you have on c drive.
next, make sure that you ave activation codes for any programs

for clarification, I meant to say reset every time I talked about Windows 10. I said restore at times.

I did a bit of looking around and I didn't find anything specifically discussing what we are discussing. I did find an article telling you how to reset Windows 10 and I am giving that link below.

Re: if you were getting a new computer.
I haven't followed developments in SSDs or the price of RAM for quite some time. I had strong opinions about price in terms of people not spending more than they need to unless they actually want to.

Re: HP laptop : How to enter safe mode?
I don't remember if or what I said when he asked that. I don't have Windows 10. I don't know how you do a Windows 10 reset. As I recall, another list member described in detail how it is done.

Re: if you were getting a new computer.
I would think they would. The DACs on newer pcs are terrible quality. Speech or music could sound clearer. But laptops come with crappy dacs they don't even use soundcards.

YHes,
I know why different people use different graphics cards?chips.
I was using it as an example of how the price of a computer can be dramaticly increased with the addition of 1 different

Re: dropbox pro number of downloads of a file?
I was under the impression that you couldn’t find this info out.
If this is wrong, somebody correct me.
Thanks,
John

That’s good to know. Thank you, as I didn’t even think of that.

Actually one more consideration. If you are a student, you get office 365 free. Even if you aren't technically, you can if your academic e-mail forwards to your personal.

Re: if you were getting a new computer.
Then again, if someone can aford it, an r7/I7 is better. Screen readers are hard on the processor, and processor core lag is noticeable more as a result.

Re: if you were getting a new computer.
The monthly ones do take a long time even when on an SSD. The time on an HDD is much much longer. I had a new versus old work laptop, during the maintenence window, a windows update took 30-40 minutes

Re: if you were getting a new computer.
The ram performance would be evident in app load times etc. The SSD difference is basicly a 90% difference which is substantial. When copying, installing or removing programs this would be evident.

Gene,
I’m not in any mood to debate with you especially regarding the reset feature, as we went through all that maybe a month ago. What I meant when I said you didn't answer Keith was you told

dropbox pro number of downloads of a file?
Hi all,
does anyone know how I can find out with the paid version of dropbox how many people have downloaded a specific file?
I've heard this can be done with the paid versions.

Re: laptop
Hey there,
I have a laptop from 2006 which started off with XP and then I put 7 on it.
The hardwhere still works! But 10 won’t run on it.
The only thing I could possibly do is put Linux on

Re: laptop
You can get PCS with DVD drives you just have to look for them.
1TB and 2TB SSD drives are still pretty expensive.
