Your comparison may be correct when comparing the JAWS cursor to the screen review function in NVDA. I haven't used JAWS for years. But there is another way to review content, object navigation.

Hi Jim. Much as I hate to recommend a clean install, I think that this would be an appropriate action in your case. I think your windows installation currently has some incurable issues

I don't know how you use your computer. A lot of what you do will be the same because a lot of what you do is using program and Windows commands. Some commands, such as read title bar, are the same.
