Maybe, but that isn’t usually the problem. Also, often if sound is muted, you need to unmute it, not increase the volume. It is for reasons like this that everyone who doesn’t have a Braille

Every time you do that, you are causing an improper shut down. When silence occurs, if you want to shut down the computer, press the power button and release it after a half second or a second. That

When this happens to me and if I can't get narrator to run:
press the windows key plus the letter r
this will open the run dialog
type sndvol and hit return
Although you can't hear it, you will land

I think it will have some appeal, because if my sister can
get a phone for $399.99 that is brand new, I think she'll be
pretty happy. She has a tablet, when she wants it bigger.

Jaws has been able to do this with all of my computers starting with XP and going up to 10, and with all versions of Jaws I have used.

I suffer the same sudden loss of Speech when using last years version of
Jaws 2019.
I do use the Alt-F4 keys to shut down, or I hope I am shutting things down.

It does but split among two commands: Insert+2 will toggle character echo and Insert+3 will toggle word echo.

The command ctrl+the right or left arrow does indeed move word by word with Jaws 2020 and Win10.
