Hi,

To whoever was trying to set up Cortana:

Make sure you are:

·         Using Windows 10.

·         Logged in via Microsoft Account.

The steps are:

1.       Select “Try Cortana”.

2.       When asked to sign into your Microsoft Account, log int using your ID and password.

3.       You’ll be greeted with a few settings, including enabling Cortana, letting Cortana use your location, letting Cortana respond when you say “Hey Cortana” and so on.

4.       Once set up, with a microphone connected, press Windows+C to bring up Cortana.

Cheers,

However, with today being my last day of summer break, and I return to work tomorrow, my lil ones go back to school tomorrow, if you are willing to help via skype, lets schedule something.

Oh no, ... Hmmm, I wish I could figure it out. What about more tabs? GOsh, I set this up after I upgraded so I have no real memory of the steps. Hmmm, let me see if I can get a comprehensive step by step thing on the web that would tell you where to go to set up the Cortana. Or is there any Cortana freaks out there who might be able to help?
Sorry ... I'm lost, my brain isn't functioning either, just got done watching Remember the Titans. Good film.

As the subject says, thanks to everyone who has subscribed so far and I will do my best to make this work.  We already have quite a few knowledgeable members who have signed on.  I would like to believe that I'm fairly open minded so hopefully this will be reflected in how the list is managed.  Don't hesitate to share your thoughts and opinions LOL or to let me know when I'm being an idiot.  There are really only a few basic rules.

1. Discussions , questions, and articles about all types of technology are allowed.

2. Discussion of illegal activities is not allowed.  If you are not sure if a particular subject qualifies as illegal, feel free to ask me in a private message.

I admire the fact that you created a new list. I am a pro lurker so I
have more experience with reading than responding so have a good idea
of how you handle things. I just hope that when it comes time to
enforce some sort of rule that it is handled in a way that doesn't
pulsate with a vibe of "1984" or make me feel like I am in school
again and someone was caught talking during class. I understand there
needs to be rules, but how they are enforced is handled can piss off
people. I'm not talking about those that can find anything in almost
everything to get mad about, I'm sure people understand what I'm
saying there. Speaking from experience it can be tough going from a
peon position to one of management and not look like you are being a
bully or betraying the people who think of you as a friend. I hope
that line isn't too hard to achieve here. Moderating anything can be
hard, dealing with a bunch of different people with different ideas
about how things should be and not looking like a total dictator or
asshole can be hard too.

Nvda & windows 10 (latest versions for users?)

jldail13@...

Hi
My name is Jessica.
I joined this list today, as soon as I got the invitation.
My question is, how well do windows 10, & the latest version of NVDA work together?

My computer currently has windows 8.1, and jaws 16; but since JAWS has been locking up my computer lately, I'm thinking about switching.
ANY HELP/TIPS, AND/OR OPINIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Sent from my iPhone

Hi Melissa,
All I can say is that I will try my best to respond in a fair and reasonable manner without being antagonistic. As it says in the list description, I am neither a dictator or a lawyer so I think I can avoid micro managing or crossing the line into being a bully.

Hi Beth, Jessica and others,
For Jessica: Yes, NVDA 2015.3 will work with Windows 10. In addition to Beth's blog post, I've recorded an audio tutorial on NVDA which can be found at www.nvda-kr.org/en.
For Beth: Regarding NVDA geeks based in United States, there are several of us. The funny thing is, we have at least one geek in each time zone (I serve as the NVDA geek in the Pacific region (where I live) and sometimes serve as the American counterpart for NVDA lead developers in Australia). In terms of my work, I tend to be the one talking about Windows 10 and NVDA a lot (I do investigate NVDA issues with Windows 10 Insider builds (currently build 10532 for fast ring Insiders) and am the moderator of the NVDA Windows 10 list), and I am the author of various NVDA add-ons including Control Usage Assistant (abandoned; NVDA's answer to JAWS' context-sensitive help), Enhanced Touch Gestures (to fill in the gap in NVDA's support for touchscreens), GoldWave (supports 5.58 and up including 6 series) and StNPlaylist Studio (supports Studio 5.00 and up). I can say that I helped out with NVDA's support for Windows 10 (it was I who wrote the routine to let NVDA announce toasts in Windows 10 (someone did something with Windows 8 version) and am experimenting with supporting so-called universal Windows apps.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Joseph

are you nuts? That's my work! I love what I wrote there, but I should
add to what's there. NVDA 2015.3 does have its workings on. It lags a
bit with Edge, but no more weird notifications that this app is
incompatible. So ... Michael Babcock, I am pleased that you referenced
my work. :)

Hi,
To remove a virtual machine:
1. Focus on the VM you wish to remove and press Control+F4.
2. Go to the folder where your WinTen VM is stored and delete the VM folder (the WinTen folder, that is).
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi guys,

I've done something and my windows 10 vm won't start up from inside vmWare.
How can I remove it so I can install a new machine?
There doesn't seem to be anything in the menu's.

Holy crap, I did not know that. lol Joe, you're so smart! I knew you had something. But anyway, you should get me on Skype we can talk more. And yes, I can't wait for Windows apps to be more accessible. With the next update of NVDA, there should at least be more stuff.
