Re: New developments on Blindtech
You may think such things are amusing but they can
damage a list and can significantly harm a list if it looses valuable
contributors as well as general members who might ask good questions and learn
from what others post.Â

Hi Christina, First, I have never really been involved, but I
do read things. I have never moderated, either. In fact, just for Gene, I
actually use about:blank as my home page. Unless you tell the list that that is
even possible, I would never know. So I do gain knowledge. But, when, people
are treated unfair, or are bossed around for no reason, the treatment goes
both ways. I liked the fact that the admins have stayed behind. But the freetech
guy, the list being moved 4 times (that I know of) and giving no reason for
things when you ask, I don't like. Like, Carlos being banned? What for? Then,
get the list back a day later, rather than explaining themselves, just where are
we? That's why I put things the way I do. Drama, that, that always entertained
me. Those who were around the FreTech guy's time, will know that I was on the
floor, laughing and screaming. And then I joined in, the guy never replied to
me. Was pretty funny. And the traffic I produced? OK, OK, I really should take
thi! Â s off list. So if you would like me to go into more detail, please
ask, and I'll tell you more off list. ----- Original Message

Re: where can you get windows7pro
I wonder which solution would work best with boot camping a Mac Book. I thought of buying one of the used ones going around the lists that very well could've sold, as it is a good price. I don't know for sure if I could get the hard drive upgraded beyond 80 gb, and get either Lion or Mountain Lion back on it, since my current one started having its keyboard trouble with Snow Leopard on it, but it could be a good boot camp machine that shouldn't give crackling audio or JFW activation issues on most reboots like a Dell I tried.

Levtec's Winstaller is another option where you can do a different take on an unattended install, or get through the first part of the setup process with NVDA in the image. It isn't a free program, so I'd probably be inclined to try with the PE images unless one needed some audio driver or other thing Levtec has that the PE ones don't.

Sorry, I missed part of your question. It can be installed without sight, but the two common methods may not necessarily be intuitive for all users. It can be done with either an unattended script or by using something like my Win7PE images. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dennis L" <dennisl1982@gmail.com> To: <TechTalk@groups.io> Sent: Sunday, August 30, 2015 10:20 AM Subject: RE: [TechTalk] where can you get windows7pro

Re: New developments on Blindtech
Hi Group,
With all due respect, I must agree with Carlos. Without beating up on Michael Capell too harshly, I have been a member of Blind Tech for over a decade and when he took over several years ago, he has seemed to go through periods of tolerance, compassion and good leadership. Then for a while, he will back off and claims issues with health. While this is not his fault (the health issues) it does seem to lead to significant instability as to rules and direction from time to time. I sincerely hope Michael gets over his health issues and I sincerely hope the Blind Tech list (which I am still a member of) continues, but I do hope that Carlos continues this list as well.
As I mentioned on the Blind Tech list, all I do is to create filters and group by conversation and I'm good to go. I already am subscribed to 17 lists--6 of which are high traffic: what's another 1 <g>.

The bottom line is that when he was owner of the Blind Tech list, it lost almost half of its members because of his intolerant attitude and his penchant for constantly changing listservs.

Hello:
I signed up here, because I think carlos is the coolest thing since slice bread.
Anyways, apparently, I'm still having trouble accessing my c drive an any other external drives when plugging them into my laptop running windows 10.
My daughter says, when I tell her, for example, I'm trying to locate my passport, which is the name of my 1tb external hd, she clicks on the mouse and then jaws says this pc, so how can I get to this pc via the keyboard"This pc is in the file explorer which use to show my c drive, dvd drive etc, but it's not showing any of that.

I agree with Gene and while I might personally find
such things occasionally amusing, allowing that kind of behavior is
really not a productive way to run a list.

You may think such things are amusing but they
can damage a list and can significantly harm a list if it looses valuable

Hi Christina, First, I have never really been involved, but
I do read things. I have never moderated, either. In fact, just for
Gene, I actually use about:blank as my home page. Unless you tell the list
that that is even possible, I would never know. So I do gain knowledge. But,
when, people are treated unfair, or are bossed around for no reason, the
treatment goes both ways. I liked the fact that the admins have stayed behind.
But the freetech guy, the list being moved 4 times (that I know of) and giving
no reason for things when you ask, I don't like. Like, Carlos being banned?
What for? Then, get the list back a day later, rather than explaining
themselves, just where are we? That's why I put things the way I do. Drama,
that, that always entertained me. Those who were around the FreTech guy's
time, will know that I was on the floor, laughing and screaming. And then I
joined in, the guy never replied to me. Was pretty funny. And the traffic I
produced? OK, OK, I really should take thi! Â s off list. So if you
would like me to go into more detail, please ask, and I'll tell you more off
list.

I landed on freelists. 2 months later, emissives. There, people had troubles replying, even though I did address to just use reply all, didn't help. BTW, that bug is fixed. Anyway, after that, we came back to freelists (had to resubscribe, of course) and now, we're on groups.io. When will the next move be?

I think Carlos should also keep this list. After watching the way Michael handles threads, he will start a thread and as long as people are agreeable with him on that thread, the thread can continue, but when people start disagreeing with him, he demands that the thread stop. I know he is the owner, but he also does things on his lists that he does not allow others to do, and in my opinion, that is wrong. An owner should abide by the same rules as everyone else.

Hi Christina, First, I have never really been involved, but I do read things. I have never moderated, either. In fact, just for Gene, I actually use about:blank as my home page. Unless you tell the list that that is even possible, I would never know. So I do gain knowledge. But, when, people are treated unfair, or are bossed around for no reason, the treatment goes both ways. I liked the fact that the admins have stayed behind. But the freetech guy, the list being moved 4 times (that I know of) and giving no reason for things when you ask, I don't like. Like, Carlos being banned? What for? Then, get the list back a day later, rather than explaining themselves, just where are we? That's why I put things the way I do. Drama, that, that always entertained me. Those who were around the FreTech guy's time, will know that I was on the floor, laughing and screaming. And then I joined in, the guy never replied to me. Was pretty funny. And the traffic I produced? OK, OK, I really should take thi! s off list. So if you would like me to go into more detail, please ask, and I'll tell you more off list.

Updating CCleaner Without Also Installing Google Chrome.
Â
Getting back to a more pertinent topic. This morning, I updated to
the latest version of CCleaner, version 5.9, on my Windows 7 PC.Â
Using the JAWS cursor, I carefully inspected each page of the Installation
wizard to make sure that there were no check boxes for also selecting Google
Chrome for installation at the same time, and could not find any. But after
CCleaner was installed successfully, I discovered to my chagrin that Google
Chrome had been installed, anyway, and set as my default browser. Just out
of curiosity, I took a quick look at Chrome and found it to be totally
inaccessible with JAWS 15. So I immediately proceeded to completely remove
it using Revo Installer and then reset IE 11 as my default browser. I
already had Unchecky on my computer but it obviously did not prevent Chrome from
being installed. Has anyone found a foolproof way to update CCleaner
without also automatically and surreptitiously installing Chrome along
withit?

I think Carlos should also keep this list. After watching the way Michael handles threads, he will start a thread and as long as people are agreeable with him on that thread, the thread can continue, but when people start disagreeing with him, he demands that the thread stop. I know he is the owner, but he also does things on his lists that he does not allow others to do, and in my opinion, that is wrong. An owner should abide by the same rules as everyone else.

The only way to really be sure is by using the
slim installer which is usually one or two versions behind the standard
installer.

Re: Updating CCleaner Without Also Installing Google Chrome.
I really doubt that Chrome is inaccessible with
JAWS 15. Chrome uses an interface that is somewhat different than Internet
Explorer or Firefox. For example, there is only one menu. But as I
recall, I played with Chrome using JAWS 14 and found it reasonably
accessible. Chrome has quirks and annoyances but it is mostly accessible,
though not as accessible as Internet Explorer or Firefox. But I have it on
my computers because at times, when I don't get good access to a site using
firefox or I may try Internet Explorer as well, but there are times when I get
better access with Chrome than with either other browser..Â

Brief intro, and an encouragement message for the owner of this list
Joseph Lee <joseph.lee22590@...>
Hi all, I’m Joseph Lee (not Joseph the Free Tech), a student and a regular contributor to NonVisual Desktop Access screen reader project. First, thanks for creating another resource for talking about technology, and I’m glad to come onboard in its early days. Second, I’m sorry to hear about what happened back at the Blind Tech list (I’ve been reading the list archives for this and the BT list, and there are things that happened recently that I don’t understand myself). More importantly, if the list owner is the Carlos I know (from various mailing lists), please take courage (if what I’ve heard is true, then I can sympathize with both sides of the story and recommend things the admins over at the other side of the pond should have done; write to me offlist please). With the intros aside: I hope to learn more about new technologies being developed and help out if I can (I’m still learing). Cheers, Joseph

I just checked and Chrome is reasonably accessible
using JAWS 14 so it will either be equally accessible or more so with JAWS
15.Â
