I can certainly understand any frustrations he, or anyone else may have had with the bt list, as I'd had a few of my own, but, he's always kept his messages polite, as far as I can remember. I certainly wish the best for this list, the bt list, and any others that offer help towards others who need it, but, seeing the back and forth bs that seemed to be common for BlindTech was beginning to get a little silly. Certainly my thanks for this new one, and here's to it being able to give the same amount, if not more, help to those of us who like these sorts of things. hehe Take it easy. Blessings. Jeremy

Sorry if I'm late to the party... A few things come to my mind as I'm reading the list archives for both lists: For the past few years, I was a moderator of a number of lists and have seen ups and downs of this position. As a moderator of a number of lists now (including two NVDA lists), I always remind myself to be kind and listen to members, as I felt a list admin sets precedence for others to follow. In terms of moderation philosophy, I believe in gentle, offlist diplomacy and how offlist mannerisms matter more for the reputation of a list administrator. I also believe that an admin should invoke his or her privilege sparingly (I think it is better for a moderator to listen to conversations than run the entire show), and to serve not as a judge in disputes but a counsellor (trying to understand disagreements and let members resolve disputes themselves offlist). Lastly, I also believe a moderator should be willing to step down and keep his or her promise to stay as a member, especially if the reputation of the list is in jeopardy (as it is, we can agree that Blind Tech will face criticism because of what happened this weekend, and this latest incident may put that list and its reputation (and Michael's) in jeopardy). As of now, I'm subscribed to both lists to monitor what's going on (I'm still reading Blind Tech archives to fully understand the backstory behind the birth of this list). Cheers, Joseph

LOL, Mike did neither of these things. You have been a moderator of a list that I was on before, at the time, we didn't agree, but I can tell you, you did do a good moderation job. Anyway, the BlindTech list went through a lot of things. Mainly, constant moving, constant people like free tech guy, co-owner difficulties, and now, moderator difficulties. So far, it was strong enough to hold on. Sorry for those who know the song, where I got the reference from. If not, I can send the lyrics off list. Should be interesting what happens now, especially that they threw Carlos out for no apparent reason. LOL, I'm still laughing on the reference above, Mike always seems to just send admin notes. He never actually gave us the possibility to speak about something off list. In fact, he's more like a judge at this point. Although, a question. What's the plan by staying subscribed to both lists? PS. The BT list went calm again, since Mike sent his note a little while ago. Sent from a BrailleNote

First, thanks for creating another resource for talking about technology, and I'm glad to come onboard in its early days. Second, I'm sorry to hear about what happened back at the Blind Tech list (I've been reading the list archives for this and the BT list, and there are things that happened recently that I don't understand myself). More importantly, if the list owner is the Carlos I know (from various mailing lists), please take courage (if what I've heard is true, then I can sympathize with both sides of the story and recommend things the admins over at the other side of the pond should have done; write to me offlist please). With the intros aside: I hope to learn more about new technologies being developed and help out if I can (I'm still learing). Cheers, Joseph

Re: where can you get windows7pro
jeremy <icu8it2@...>
I'll certainly second that. Assuming a person is comfortable with using the virtual cursor in jfw, or object navigation in NVDA for a few things, the talking PE is an absolute breeze to use for an installation.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
As for levtec, which I'll assume is also based somewhat on the PE project, do to my not being able to ever get consistent and reliable information from Levi through any of our correspondence, I always found it really difficult to justify spending what he was asking for the tool then. I'm thinking I'd come closer to making a donation towards Carlos or anyone else working on a talking PE type project instead. Just my own thoughts though, hehe.

I certainly wish the best for this list, the bt list, and any others that offer help towards others who need it, but, seeing the back and forth bs that seemed to be common for BlindTech was beginning to get a little silly. I also agree... Now, the way things were going on the other list, it was inevitable that, sooner or later, there would be a split. The only surprising thing, is that it was Carlos who was 'banned' from it. Joseph has written eloquently on the matter of list moderation. I do run a Googlegroup myself, and certainly, off-list diplomacy should be the first course tried when there is a dispute or something that is clearly 'off topic' according to an admin moderator's interpretation. If I needed to step down for reasons of my health, I would stay out for an extended period of time. (I have unsubscribed from some lists in the past, including BlindTech itself, for similar reasons.) BTW, it may just be me, but I do allow humour on the list that I run. (If curious, google the word 'vibistro'. It's primarily a list about Irish radio & television, with overlaps from the UK stations we in Ireland can receive.) Anyway, Carlos, a very good start has been made here!

Agree. The payTech guy got away with waaaaaay too much.. As for humor, while I don't run a list, but a list without humor is too flat for me. And Carlos got me laughing Yesterday, probably unintentionally, but still. I think there's everything for a good list here. Sent from a BrailleNote

And this is not the first time he has given the list away and then taken control back within a day. The fact is that his new co-list owner was rude to me in private messages and when I commented on this fact, he immediately went on the defensive and was quite rude himself. And when I defended myself and responded to her rudeness, she immediately banned me from the list so no thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gene To: TechTalk@groups.io Sent: Sunday, August 30, 2015 10:40 AM Subject: [TechTalk] New developments on Blindtech You, Carlos, or others who may have left Blindtech may want to reconsider.
