Question

Hi Group:
I heard about this device that can help people with disabilities go out on walks by themselves. Supposedly, you wear this thing around your neck and it's a camera and you can push a button and get someone live and these people do this for a living by giving people directions. It can probably be used for something else as well but I am very intrigued and was wondering if any of you have heard about it? I have no idea what it's called but my friend told me about it. I do know of an app on the phone that is similar but this is a device that goes around your neck so the person can see where you are going. Thanks in advance and if none of you heard of this, I will tell my friend she is totally off. Shelly

Re: Google device or Alexa device?

Yes, it changed when they did away with google play music and now it is all YouTube music and it lets you listen to samples till you obtain a paid YouTube account, 17 last time I was signed up for it. It may have gone up now. I know I have 3 google speakers in my home and 4 alexa speakers. You can play it with say google on your iPhone threw the YouTube app but you will get all the adds. Also, you can use YouTube off the web with adds too. But not with the speakers. I think if you have a chrome cast, you might be able to play YouTube shows. I cant berify this as I do not have a chrome cast. However, if you have a firestick tv, you can get it to play YouTube in their YouTube app off the firestick tv; with adds unless you have a paid subscription.I figured after they got rid of google play music, they were going to make you pay; so greedy. Cheers Heather

I don't know what the situation is in countries other than The United States but I'm very skeptical that Google Voice Assistant users can't listen to Youtube for free, that is the unrestricted content, which is a great deal.

It would be interesting to find out why. You can evidently play content but not select sspecific content. It sounds more like a radio feature where you select a genre and the music service plays songs in that genre more or less like Pandora..

Hi,
Well, Then, you might be able to make your own
colouring books.
I remember colouring in thermoform colouring books
as a kid. Some of them even had numbers in
Braille in the empty spaces, where the colouring
would go. The numbers in those spaces were matched to colours in a box of
crayons.
Blessings and All the Very Best,
Pat Seed

Re: accessible budget-friendly color laser printers
heather albright
I think someone suggested brother but their accessible tec support is not existent. SO you will have to have sighted assistance to set up and everytime it goes off line. They do not have a lazyer print that is truly accessible for someone who is blind or lowvision. I am sure the first question tec support is “I am sorry, do you have someone sighted there to assist you” cheers Heather !

No, it's not hard to learn. Yes, there are tutorials made by Joseph Lee himself. I highly recommend this course, available for $52 U.S., all of which goes to support the very worthwhile NVDA project and will teach you everything you need to know about using NVDA, and then some.

I think his use of the word abacus was to indicate that he perceives it to be an outdated dinosaur. What I'd recommend is to back up the system drive and try a clean install of 20H2. If that doesn't work, just restore the old one and think of something else to try.

Is it hard to learn? and are there tutorials I can get? I am running windows ten. Jim I don't know how you use your computer. A lot of what you do will be the same because a lot of what you do is using program and Windows commands. Some commands, such as read title bar, are the same. Web page navigation commands are just about identical. There is a page for those beginning to use NVDA who now use JAWS. https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda-community/wiki/SwitchingFromJawsToNVDA There is training material available from NVDA that you can pay for. There is other material done by users. I don't follow that subject enough to discuss it much. I suspect, though I don't know this, that some training material is discussed on the transition page I'm sending the link for. Whatever the case, if you do a Google search for NVDA training material, you will find resources.
