dropbox question

Kimsan

Hi,

I’m unsure if this is a mac related question or dropbox.

What  happening is when someone puts a file in my dropbox, for example, a mp3 it will not play when I vo space or space.

I have to go to sync, click local, leave the db window and come back in and then I can play. How can I set it up so it will play after vo spacing.

Thank you,

Re: a jaws settings question

Check your graphics verboscity setting in J18 then change it to the same in J2020 and maybe changing your graphics verboscity setting to, Labeled, if it hasn't been already will help.

With the baseball program open press, Insert + 6, on the number row to open the Settings Center for this application.

Down arrow to, Graphics and Symbols closed, and right arrow to open.

Down arrow to, Graphics verboscity..., and tap the spacebar to toggle through the graphics settings options.  Your options are No graphics, Labeled graphics and All graphics.  Stop on, Labeled graphics, tab to, Apply, press the spacebar, tab to, Okay, and press enter to save / close.

If this doesn't help you can return the setting back to where it was if you like, but leaving it on Labeled I find works best with Jaws.

Take care and stay safe.  Mike.

Subject: [TechTalk] a jaws settings question

Hi all,

I have a baseball game from strat-o-matic.com on my computer that I've
been playing for about 3 months now, and quite often after I make the
changes I want to make before playing a game the okay button I need to
use to move on is grayed out and isn't a button as it should be. I'm
hoping that somebody here can suggest a setting in jaws that might solve
this problem, although maybe not because it may work one time and not
the next and it's with the same settings.

I have another blind friend who plays the game and this never happens to
him, and btw the game works best with jaws 2018. There are graphics
before each player's name that jaws 2018 voices that 2020 doesn't and
that's the reason that we can't use 2020.

If anybody has any ideas please send them my way.

Re: MP3 Direct Cut Splitting with Cue Marks

Gene

I've never bothered with cue points. I don't know if one method is faster and easier than the other, but I manually set markers, then do what I want to do with whatever is between them.

If you want to save all the songs in an album in separate files, you can do the following:
First, remove any blank space or space at the beginning of the file containing audio.
Set the start marker at the beginning of the file with b. Move to where you want the file to begin and press n to set the end marker. Then press the delete key.
Now, set the start marker again at the beginning of the file. This would be the first song, in this case.
Move to the end of the song and set the end marker.
Now use the save selected option to save the song.
The command is control e. Write the name you want to give the song and press enter.
The song will be saved. After you save it, delete it with the delete key.
Now set the start marker at the beginning of the file again.
I am assuming that there is some blank space between songs. Move to the start of the song, set the end marker just before the beginning, and delete.
Now follow the procedure I outlined above.

I haven't described how to do fine editing, which you may want to do when moving the markers to the end of a song, so you can be at the end and not leave unwanted blank space or not leave unwanted blank space at the beginning. I may explain it in another message or I may send you a link to download my MP3 tutorial which teaches the basics, including editing.

In MP3 Direct Cut, how does one manually place cue points in an MP3 file
to enable splitting of an MP3 album into individual song tracks? I am
aware of pressing control-shift-a to enable auto splitting by time
segments, but I cannot locate in the manual how you use the keyboard to
manually place cue points between each song track.

Re: MP3 Direct Cut Splitting with Cue Marks

Steve Matzura

B for Beginning and N for End. Don't know why N = End, but it does. You move the pointer to wherever you want to start cutting either with the PageDown key or by typing a time into the not-so-obvious edit field, then press B to mark the beginning, move the time line pointer again and pres N.

You may be able to correct the situation in JAWS using the speech dictionary.

I am not saying you are wrong that you have read a lot of documents and not

heard page break announced. But the problem occurs when you export a

document from Openbook to a text file. I don't know what other programs

leave page breaks in the file when you export or save them in text format

from another format. Other list members may want to discuss that.

I also don't know if this problem occurs if you read a text file in Word or

in many other word processors. I do know that if you read a text file

exported from Openbook in Notepad, that the page break is spoken. The

person didn't explain what program she is using to read the document. We

dohn't know the history of the document, whether someone sent it to her, or

whether she exported it in text format from a program nor what program she

is using to read the program.

But the problem does make perfect sense. If the page breaks are retained,

they will be shown in notepad as if they were revealed codes and NVDA speaks

them unless you make the adjustment I discussed in earlier messages. If the

person does what has been suggested, the problem will be solved.

My guess is that the person is using Notepad to read the file, though we

don't know that and that it was exported from another program. She may not

know the history of the file if it were sent to her.

Hi Group,

I know this has been discussed in the past on this and other lists, but I am in the market for a color laser printer.  It has to be accessible which means some way of interacting other than the touch screen and voiceless screen on the printer itself.

I called Amazon disability which lists dozens of them. They couldn't help me a lot other than giving me the phone numbers for accessibility for Canon, Xerox and HP.

Here's what happened when I tried these phone numbers:
Xerox the number was disconnected
HP never answered--even after 5 hours on two separate phones Canon answered and a woman with a heavily accented voice assured me that the one she referenced would do the trick. Color imageCLASS MF743Cdw. . This device which it is a bit pricey at $379 US weighs in at a massive
64 pounds.  I would consider this more seriously if I could be sure I could lift and position it properly without collapsing my utility table.

So again as I may have done in the past, what are people using for a laser printer and how are they accessing it: app, voiced onboard touch screen, echo device?

Thanks for any help.

There is still a portable version and slim version of CCleaner on this download page:  https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds

Re: CCleaner Now Has Screen Reader Support

Is there a portable version? CCleaner, in the general installed version, as so many free programs do now, installs other ;programs on the machine, likely ones the user doesn't want. In the past, there was a slim version but according to comments I've seen on lists like this, it is often late in its release. The portable version doesn't install anything and doesn't install potentially unwanted programs. It may well be that ieven if the installation screen is read, that the part of the screen where you are allowed to decline installation is not accessible. It isn't in many programs that offer you the decline option in the installation procedure.

Office/Outlook spell check question

Madison Martin

Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is something that can just be fixed for Outlook, or if it
has to be done for all Office programs. I don't even know if it can be fixed
period, but I hope that it can. Anyway, I'm running Windows 10, Jaws 18 and
Office/Outlook 2013. I have Outlook set to check spelling before sending a
message and sometimes I'm told that the dictionary language is English (Canada)
and other times it's in English (United States). When you tab to change or
ignore the error you go past a combo box where you're supposed to be able to
change the selected language using the arrow keys, but when I tried to do that
(it was on English United States) it just took me back to the inbox. So I'm
wondering, is there another way to change the dictionary language? Since I'm
Canadian I'd like to have it be set to Canadian English. The main Office program
that I use is Outlook so that's the main place where I'd like the dictionary
language changed, but if I have to or can change it in Word then that would be
nice too!! I hope that this makes sense, and that there's a easy/simple way to
change this. Look forward to any help/suggestions that any of you can provide!!
Thanks
Madison
