Here is a link.  It isn’t clear to me if you are just having problems downloading JARTE or general problems with Internet Explorer.

I’m not trying to discourage you from using JARTE, but if you only want a program for this purpose, this one may serve.

On the windows 7 machine the PHD will read all of my e-mails, news magazines and all, as I have Word 2013.  On the windows 10 computer, the music folder can be heard on the PHd, but nothing can be read by Wordpad.  I certainly would not mind trying the Wordpad you mentioned.  Thank you.

In thinking about your question, it raises another interesting question, at least I find it interesting.  Are your e-mails saved as doc files?  I find it very interesting that Wordpad, in its later versions, won’t open doc files.  You may want JARTE anyway but in case you want something very simple and even smaller, I can send you a download link for the old XP Wordpad that can open doc files.

While the person may find it useful to have the information and address provided, the question is framed by a statement that the person is having problems downloading anything in Edge and the question of how you download in Internet Explorer.

If these are the actual problems, they need to be addressed.  Internet Explorer isn’t going to be supported indefinitely, I wouldn’t be surprised if support ends in the next year or two.

As to problems downloading using Edge, have you been successful in the past?  What is different now?  Did these problems begin when the new Edge came out?  The way you download files is a little different in Edge compared with other browsers I’ve used but once you know how to work with the differences, downloads are not a problem.

I haven’t downloaded much with Edge but I think that you aren’t hearing a percentage because you didn’t start the download, though I’d have to experiment.  Probably others will explain how to download and then you may well not have problems.

But are you asking how to download using Internet Explorer or just how to download that specific program?

Perhaps not from Microsoft, but if you try to read a docx file using Jart, a help document opens up with a link to a page where you can get it.

Going to a specific audio position in Audacity

Leo Bado

Hello fellow listers,

Recently, I started editing audio on Audacity from scratch, and even though I had no previous experience using any audio-editing software, I have been able to edit a quite simple and decent piece of promo audio recording for my WhatsApp  group. However, I’ve been trying to figure out how to go to a specific position in the track. I want to be able to go to a specific point in the timeline of the track. Maybe if I explain why I want to do this, someone may give me a hint to put me on the right track on this.

Let’s say I’m editing a selection of the track which starting point is the minute 20 of the track, and the ending  is the minute 21. After I have applied the changes that I want for that specific selection, how I retake the playback exactly after  the mark of the ending point?  In other words, how  I re take the playback in the minute 22 of the track?

I’m using Jaws 2021 and the scripts for audacity, but if it is a way to do it without going through the script functionality, it will be very useful as well.

Best,

     Leo Bado.

Lately, I have been having a lot of issues trying to download something, whether it is an app, program, music--using windows 7 or windows 10with MS Edge, and I have tried IE on windows 10.  At the moment I would like to download Jarte on my windows 10 computer, as I do not have MS Word on that computer and I cannot read the e-mails that are on my portable hard drive because of that.  I can read them fine on the windows 7 computer, but at times that particular computer is not available.  Could someone please give me step by step instructions on how to acquire and download Jarte?  Thank you very much.

Actually it’d be newer versions of *.doc most likely not older version.

Or *.docx might not open either.

But we’ll see what she have to say then go from there.

I didn’t know any doc files couldn’t be opened except maybe very old versions that would be archaic now.  Whatever the case, it would be very convenient to try if that is the only purpose that is wanted.  No installation is necessary, just unzip the files into whatever folder you want and run the program.

Then again, JARTE might be wanted for other uses.

More onto, different. You still do the same thing but access it differently.
Unless you really try them, else difficult to judge on your part.

Hi Gene:

If you're seeking to be able to use MP3 DirectCut and related apps, an
Android tablet won't be your friend!  The likes of such apps HAVE NOT YET
BEEN PORTED OVER to Androidville and such a porting may never happen.

Eloquence is gone in Androidville; it was pulled by CodeFactory 'cause,
according to it, it wasn't making enough pennies.  Furthermore, CodeFactory
WOULD NOT UPDATE its 32BIT CODE to a 64Bit one which Google requires for all
apps in the Play Store.  Only those who had previously purchased Eloquence
enjoy grandfather status.  Vocalizer is a TTS engine from the same company
and it is still being actively developed; sure costs a lot less than
Eloquence!

The Android OS is a different animal with its peculiar learning curve.  As
of the present moment, NO WINDOWS SCREEN READER can be installed in an
Android box.  A thing or two might change in the future, or someone out
there may come up with a hack that would get several adrenalins pumping
high!

I doubt it can read as quickly with as little distortion as Eloquence.  That’s one reason I use Eloquence.  And I wouldn’t be surprised if  Eloquence pronounces more words correctly without correcting them.  Talkback sounds pleasant, from the very little bit I’ve heard, but most symthesizers start to diminish in quality when listening at fast speeds.
