Re: Quick question about a Windows 10 Pro laptop

Hi,

As things currently stand, Windows as a subscription service is a rumor rather than an option or requirement, at least for consumers. When you purchase a Windows 10 pro laptop, you will not need to pay for a subscription to use Windows. You may, of course, need to pay for a subscription for Office, your Antivirus, etc, but that has nothing to do with Windows. HTH, Aman

Huh? Where did you get statements that says you need to provide subscription payment to use Windows 10 Pro? This is bogus information, which means the answer is no. Cheers, Jsoeph

OneNote/Evernote/Google Keep accessibility?
Cristóbal
Hello list, Can anyone comment on the accessibility with any of the note taking apps/services? I know a while back, OneNote really didn’t work with Jaws so I’m not sure if there’s been any improvement with recent JFW or Office updates. I know there was at a time scripts one could buy to make OneNote more Jaws friendly, but again, that was a while ago. How about the other two apps? I use Pocket for a read later solution when I come across articles, but I’m looking for something a little more note taking orientated for when I need or want to research something. Thus am looking for something more put together. Be it any of these three services mentioned or perhaps something else? Jaws user as well as iOS so cross platform compatible would be preferred I know I can slap something together with notepad and or a word processing doc and put it in the cloud, but thought I’d ask around if there was maybe a more structured solution.
Thanks, Cristóbal

Re: cordless landline phone
Bob J
I own this phone and it works very well. The
base unit has a built in answering system and the base unit will operate during
a power failure if a handset with fully charged batteries is left in the base
unit. The power failure mode has some limitations but you would have ample
time to make a telephoned report to your power company regarding your power
outage. Also, the range between the base unit and a handset is very
good. I got mine from Amazon.

Humor Hi All,
Just thought some of you might get a laugh from
this.
Instructions for Microsoft's New TV Dinner Product
You must first remove the plastic cover. By doing so, you agree to accept and honor Microsoft rights to all TV dinners. You may not give anyone else a bite of your dinner (which would constitute an infringement of Microsoft's rights). You may, however, let others smell and look at your dinner, and are encouraged to tell them how good it is. If you have a PC microwave oven, insert the dinner into the oven. Set the oven using these keystrokes: Then enter:
ms//start.cook_dindin/yummy\|/yum~yum:-)gohot#cookme
If you have a Mac oven, insert the dinner and press start. The oven will set itself and cook the dinner. If you have a Unix oven, insert the dinner, enter the ingredients of the dinner (found on the package label), the weight of the dinner, and the desired level of cooking, and press start. The oven will calculate the time and heat, and cook the dinner exactly to your specification. Be forewarned that Microsoft dinners may crash, in which case your oven must be restarted. This is a simple procedure. Remove the dinner from the oven and enter, ms.nodamn.good/tryagain\again/again.crap. This process may have to be repeated. Try unplugging the microwave and then doing a cold reboot. If this doesn't work, contact your hardware vendor. Many users have reported that the dinner tray is far too big, larger than the dinner itself, having many useless compartments, most of which are empty. These are for future menu items. If the tray is too large to fit in your oven, you will need to upgrade your equipment. Dinners are only available from registered outlets, and only the chicken variety is currently produced. If you want another variety, call MicrosoftHelp, and they will explain that you really don't want another variety. Microsoft Chicken is all you really need. Microsoft has disclosed plans to discontinue all smaller versions of their chicken dinners. Future releases will only be in the larger family size. Excess chicken may be stored for future use, but must be saved only in Microsoft approved packaging. Microsoft promises a dessert with every dinner after '98. However, that version has yet to be released. Users have permission to get thrilled in advance. Microsoft dinners may be incompatible with other dinners in the freezer, causing your freezer to self-defrost. This is a feature, not a bug. Your freezer probably should have been defrosted anyway. Take care. Go Rams! Sent from my iBarstool. The probability of someone watching you is proportional to the stupidity of your action.

Is there any way to
stop firefox's add on manager from loading when I open firefox?
I have www.google.com as my default website and the
add on manager still autoloads.
Sorry if I asked this before, I have not slept in

Re: Putting a shortcut on the desktop
Steve Matzura
Ya know, I've been doing this stuff since it was invented, and
sometimes I just hafta ask myself, "oh yeah? Really? And you
forgot this simple thing?" Now please help me to put that
frying-pan down, as the ringing in my ears from my hitting myself
over the head with it is starting to get intense! HAHHAHHAHHAH! I
should have known this, of course, but instead of thinking of it
from (air quotes) outside the box, I got lost in the box and was
trying to say that it was not possible to create a shortcut for
that particular search item, when I should have been thinking to
create the shortcut to the program the searched-for shortcut
actually runs!

Thanks, Mike B. I knew it was possible but didn't remember. Now, I think I can rename it on the desktop and give it a better name.
I've now saved the instructions and will try to find it the next time I need it.

Re: add-on manager in firefox
I have never seen this situation before.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I'd suggest it'd be another program messing up with your system but that's unlikely. Try to remove the browser again, this time making sure that you've removed it completely. That is, programs always leave folders here and there so it's worth checking all possibilities. Cheers, Marcio Em 05/01/2019 04:35, Keith S escreveu:

every time you open the browser itself?

How odd. Have you ever tried restoring it? Maybe it can solve the problem. Try it and let us know if this worked. Hth Cheers, Marcio Em 04/01/2019 15:52, Keith S escreveu:

I don't know how it should appear in your language so I'll describe it as numbers. Going to the 3rd option on the list of options' which is in the options menu, you can disable the boxes on spelling. Hth Cheers, Marcio Em 04/01/2019 19:25, Troy Burnham escreveu:

Re: the VIP3000 talking thermostat

Hi Troy,
I strongly suggest that you call out a service technician to
do this because if you make a little mistake you run the chance of not only
screwing up the thermostat but, your AC / Heat system as well. Especially
if your AC / Heat system has multiple stages / speeds.
