I doubt you will lose settings. Usually, when you uninstall programs these days, the settings are retainded on the machine so the user can reinstall the program without such loss. If you want to be sure, then of course, save the settings if you wish but I am very doubtful that it is necessary.

Hey Mike, were you ever
able to install the paid version of 0 Patch? I noticed that
whenever a new patch was available, it would slow down my
computer until I applied it. And to apply it, I had to open the
0 Patch console from the "everything is okay" system tray icon
and wait until it finally launched, because when I first open
the console, I would be confronted with the "program not
responding" dialog, and had to wait a few minutes until the
console was finally enabled and the patch automatically
applied. Who needs this aggravation? But on another note, do
you have any idea why I could not download Open Book 9.0 from
the FS downloads page? When I activated the download link, I
heard a ding sound in Google Chrome, probably emanating from the
Pop-up Sounds extension, but otherwise, I was not presented
with the file download dialog to save it. Is there perhaps a
problem with their web site?

Re: Unable to Launch Open Book
Gerald Levy
Okay, I fixed the
problem and now I am able to successfully launch Open Book again
and scan and read documents normally. But a little background
on how I resolved the problem in case anyone else encounters the
same issue. First, I visited the Freedom Scientific Open Book
downloads page and tried to download Open Book 9.0. But for
whatever reason, I could not download it using Google Chrome or
Firefox. Maybe there's a problem with their web site. Next, I
considered performing a System Restore. But it turned out that
I had no restore points. I was mulling over what to do next and
considered calling FS customer support for help, but thought
things over again. I remembered that I had just applied a new
patch this morning to 0 Patch, the third-party security program
that supposedly applies patches to keep Windows 7 protected
because, of course, this obsolete OS is no longer supported by
Microsoft. I figured that uninstalling 0 Patch, which is mostly
inaccessible, anyway, might fix the problem, because perhaps the
patch I had applied this morning was somehow preventing Open
Book from launching, flagging it as malware or some other
malicious threat. And sure enough, once I uninstalled 0 Patch
using Revo Uninstaller, Open Book launched normally and worked
as it should, scanning and reading back my mail. So my advice
for anyone who is still using0 Patch on their Windows 7
computer is to get rid of 0 Patch, because it might cause
unanticipated problems or otherwise interfere with certain
programs like Open Book. It is almost totally inaccessible, and
besides, the information on its interface is mostly
incomprehensible gibberish, anyway, and it may not even be
protecting your Windows 7 computer in the first place. Don't
even think about installing the paid version of 0 Patch, it they
ever get around to making it accessible. Its downside outweighs
any perceived benefits it might offer in terms of added Windows
7 protection. In this case, reinstalling Open Book without
uninstalling 0 Patch would probably not have fixed the problem,
after all.

Why change something that works though? An applications key works
perfectly well for anything I would want to do. There is literally
no reason to change it. Also, with hypersensetive mousepads these
days, you can accidentally hover your finger over a part of the
touch pad and cause unintended actions. Not to mention moving your
hand away from the keyboard and to the mouse just for a right
click when you're working on the keyboard isn't time effective or
ergonomic. As for laptop examples, look at the eluktronics rp15 vs 17
keyboards, and see a missing plus and enter key on the numb pad.

You find a detailed walkthru in the documentation of NVDA addons. Install NVDA remote, then oben NVDA menu with NVDA-n, go to tools and select manage addons. In this windows which lists all of your installed addons go to remote support and tab to the help button and your tutorial is in front of you 😊

microsoft office 365 is it accessible with NVDA?
Mário Navarro
Hello all.
can someone please confirm if the version of office 365 home, or the personal version is accessible with NVDA? if so, what is the percentage rate from 1 to 10? the main office apps that I will use are: word, and excel. How does NVDA work with these two apps? can I invest without accessibility concerns in office 365 home, or personal with NVDA? I always got used to using the office pack 2016, or 2019. but now I need other types of services with office 365. and my concern is whether I will have the same accessibility with office 365. I know that the structure and layout are different, but what interests me is whether NVDA works normally as well as in the office pack, or there are differences in accessibility. please can someone give me some tips on this subject? thank you all. cheers.

Hi David, Either The Old Reader, or Feedbin. I've personally tested

The other 2 are probably fine, but since I don't like the river format, in other words, I don't like my RSS reader to look like my FB and/or Twitter feed, I only briefly tested them. Unfortunately though The Old Reader and Feedbin both limit feed items. The Old Reader removes unread items after a year. Not only that but the premium plan is $6 per month for 1500 feeds. Feedbin will simply limit the amount of items in a feed. For instance a feed that should have thousands of items like the Hacker News firehose feed would have 500. Right now I'm using simplerssreader.com. I've used the paid instance of Miniflux before, https://reader.miniflux.app, but after a database outage they started archiving unread items after 60 days.

Re: Finding the "Unread" messages in Outlook 365?

Vicky,
There is a "Next Unread Message" command, but it is not on the standard ribbon - and I mean the Message Ribbon when you're in a window reading a message. You can customize the ribbon, add a new group to the ribbon, then place the Next Unread Message control in that group. It is accessible via keyboard shortcut once it's been placed in a group on the ribbon. If you would like me to create a step-by-step instruction set for doing this let me know. I just did it "quick and dirty" in Outlook 2016 but would have to step through from the outset and record the keyboard shortcuts and things you have to look for during the process. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 Always remember that computers are just glorified light bulbs - they rarely fail in continuous use and usually go pop when turned off and on. ~ Technician with the username Computer Bloke, on Technibble.com
