I can't get it to permanently install on my desktop. I'm always having to get the app and reinstall. Otherwise, I love it.

Sharon, if you have the Be my eyes app, you can use that.

Re: Eloquence and NVDA

This is an impression because I didn't work with either extensively, but I don't recall any differences that matter. It my be, however, that the add-on caused a strange problem where the JAWS key didn't work properly at times. Its been perhaps four or five months since I compared the two and I'm not sure if that problem matters in general but others may have ccomments on that. They may not have had the problem and you can't generalize from one person's experience. I would suggest trying the demo versions of both, no matter what comments you get. You will have a week to try both.

The reason I favor the SAPI5 bersion is that at some time in the future, if Python (spelling) is updated again, it will make no difference. the SAPI 5 synthesizer will be compatible without the add-on being updated. Also, you may not care about this, but I like the idea of having a version of Eloquence that is compatible with many other programs.

I am thinking about getting Eloquence for NVDA. Is there any difference in performance of the SAPI version and the add on version? I am not interested in getting Vocalizer. I downloaded the trial version and let it expire before I tried it out.

Update the download engine and that will probably correct the problem.
Open toolls, alt t. Then open options, o.
Up arrow to update download engine and press enter. the update will occur. It may take a minute or two and you may not have any speech in the program during that time. When the update finishes, you should get some sort of message. I've done it so seldom, I'm not sure what it is. If you ever have this sort of problem, the first thing to try is to update the engine.

At times, the update won't be done and you will get a message about not finding the current engine or update or something like that. In the very few times I've updated, it appears to me that this happens between the time an update is needed and the perhaps days until one is available.

narrator and Paypal Language Issue

Sharon Hooley

Hi,

Apparently, I inadvertently set Paypal to a language I don't know. Now I'm trying to get United States English. Narrator repeatedly says something like enter unknown language, and I managed to make it read enter English US. But so far I can't get the whole thing back to English using my keyboard. Any ideas what to try?

Thanks,

Re: Windows 10 Login Always Wants a PIN or Password

Brian Vogel <britechguy@...>

Steve,

You're being asked for a PIN since you went through the "Create a PIN" process, which changes the default verification method.  And, yes, Microsoft has been forcing this, or at least making it difficult to avoid going through once.

On the lock screen, beneath the edit box for whatever verification method happens to be your current default, are controls that allow you to switch to one of the other methods.  If you land on the one for Password, and choose it, and have already done the prior setup that allows you not to enter one, you should go back to going straight to the desktop.  I can't recall if it will require you to enter your password at the time of switching or not.

Windows 10 Login Always Wants a PIN or Password

Steve Matzura

After a recent Windows 10 update, most likely the one to 20H2 19042 build 630, one of my Windows 10 systems insists on requiring me to log in with either a PIN or my Microsoft account password. Neither of my systems used to do this, and I want to stop the one that is doing it now from so doing. Snippets from the Web tell me to turn off the checkbox in NETPLWIZ that says" "Require a username and password to use this computer." I did that, but still the request for a PIN is displayed. What's the real remedy for this?

Thanks in advance.

I changed the subject line. I often skip them because they so often are more or less meaningless. People may feel free to change them if the topic drifts to something else.

Since the subject line of this thread doesn't say anything about thunderbird, I've not been following it; and thus, have missed the address of the thunderbird tutorial that was (obviously) mentioned in a previous message. Wonder: Would someone please repeat that addtress? I'll keep following this thread--which seems incorrect to me.

Thanks.

Janet, it is not my obligation to spoon feed you, or anyone else. What I said was stated, and clearly, in the reference material I offered. I don't intend to keep typing information I have already offered because you, or anyone else, doesn't bother to read what's been offered. I don't offer this sort of stuff because it's irrelevant to the situation or questions asked.

As to working with Thunderbird Add-Ons, I give step-by-step instructions in the tutorial for downloading and installing this specific add-on.

I really don't know what more I can do, and I'm not going to answer a single additional question that I know I have already addressed in material offered that you clearly have not bothered to read, yet demand the same answers it gives!

USB drive cause JAWS or Narrator to stop speaking?

Loy

I have a 32 GB USB drive, it has been formatted. When I place it in a USB port on the front of my computers JAWS or Narrator speech will stop. Doesn't happen with port on back or ports on my other computer. Why would this happen
