Do you have any way of accessing your old
computer? If so, export the settings from the old computer, save the file,
transfer the file to the new computer and import the Jaws settings to the new
computer.

Hi Monty,
The only thing that would bother me about laying a tower style computer on its side is the fact that the sides of the tower is where the computer gets a lot of ventilation for cooling purposes. But, if you're drawing enough cool air through the front and back then I guess that wouldn't be a worry since its been working well for you.

Hi Mike,
I know the computer Jerry is looking at is a desktop model. Cannot it be used safely if it sits on its side rather than he bottom. I have a mid-tower computer which I have on its side instead of standing up. Yes, my tower computer takes up more room on its side, but I have my printer sitting on the tower. I’ve been doing this for at least 2 or 3 years with no problem.

Jerry,
You are aware that this computer is not the tower type that sits on the floor, usually, but it's the desktop type that takes a lot of space on a flat service of choice. Just thought I'd mention it just in case you didn't notice the dimensions particulars.

It depends on the price. I can’t tell by the number, what generation of * core 7 processor? It says ddr3 ram; ddr4 has been in use for many years now. I would expect a new computer to have a s s d drive of some sort. I would definitely look around and see what is available for the same money.

Amazon Echo Shopping Lists
Kerryann Ifill
Dear all:
I’m late to the game with the eCho device and as a born sceptic where these always on devices were concerned, I was pleasantly surprised the other day. The echo shopping list feature when paired up with the Alexa app is very handy in deed! I add items to my grocery list via echo and then looked at the list on the Alexa app. For curiosity’s sake, I then shared the shopping list to the notes app. Imagine how surprised I was to discover that echo had sorted it in the note by categories: dry goods, meat/seafood, produce, etc. Since several other echo users I spoke with didn’t know about that, thought I’d share to this list for the other newbies like me! Happy shopping! Kerry

Re: Needing a Command to read if a letter is Capitalized
Mike B
Yo Alan,
Whenever you modify a speech / sound scheme it puts a file in
your ENU folder. For example if you modified the Classic Scheme you would
have a file in the ENU folder that would, read like this:
Classic (Modified).SMF
If you tinkered with the same scheme again the ENU file would
read like this:
Classic (Modified 2).SMF
And if you tinkered with the same scheme again
the ENU file would read like this:
Classic (Modified 3).SMF
So delete any ENU files of the same name as the scheme you screwed up and
that scheme will go back to its default scheme name and settings in theSpeech
& Sound Schemes Settings Center folder. You can call me if you need
more help.

Hi Alan,
You have to modify a speech and sound scheme to make Jaws report, Cap or Capital, on a capital letter. Below are 2 sets of steps if you want to try them. Step #2 is the easiest.

Hey there, Jerry, Brian Zolo here in Gahanna, Ohio, feel free to call me BZ, grin! You’ve got a great machine there; the only change that you might consider would be to go with a solid state drive as opposed to a mechanical hard drive as you’ll definitely get better performance, faster boot time and less energy use with a solid state drive. That western digital certainly isn’t a bad drive and it’s awesome that you’ll have a dvd drive as well. It’s getting harder and harder to find dvd drives in laptops anymore. If you get a solid state drive, go with the 512 though it won’t be as big as your drive on your machine. The prices on solid state drives are definitely coming down but they’re still more expensive than mechanical drives and don’t give you as much storage though that’s changing and will get even better. You’ve got a great machine there, have a great day! BZ!
