Sudden problem with printer
Nancy Shackelford
Have Windows 10 OS, Docuscan, and Cannon MG2500 series printer. Just
recently, messages keep saying that computer can't communicate with printer. Tried all--unplugging for 60 seconds, restarting computer, and attempted installing updated software, but same message--Be sure your printer is turned on and plugged in to computer. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Nance -- Nancy Shackelford --Walk On Faith And Trust In Love - Michael Reid--

Re: new computer
Brian Vogel <britechguy@...>
One would need to know the price, as what are "great specs" at one price point are "horrible specs" at another, or at least can be.
My primary concern is the fact that the system has a 2TB HDD as its only drive. I am not anti-HDD for bulk data storage, but the performance boost one gets from an SSD as the primary system drive is significant. RAM may be perfectly fine, or you may want or need to expand it depending on what you actually do and how the machine reacts. It would be worth asking how many RAM slots exist in this machine, and how that 8 GB is split among them. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 2004, Build 19041 Always remember that computers are just glorified light bulbs - they rarely fail in continuous use and usually go pop when turned off and on. ~ Technician with the username Computer Bloke, on Technibble.com

Re: Accessible free PC driver upgrade software
Brian Vogel <britechguy@...>
Fanus,
The issue you're having sometimes occurs, and no one ever really knows why (and I'm sure the actual underlying causes are myriad). What I suggest is following these instructions: Doing a Windows 10 Repair Install or Feature Update Using the Windows 10 ISO file And if you want to be "very strict" with your machine during that process, make sure it's not connected to the internet. When you have the ISO file you already have all of the essential components needed to do the repair install or feature update. If there are additional updates that were put in place after Microsoft issued the ISO file then those will be applied via the normal Windows Update process after you again establish internet connectivity.

Fanus
Hello Brian Thanks, I hear what you say. The strange thing is that my PC says it wants to upgrade and then it says its going to restart but after the restart it says it could not finish the update, please turn off the pc while the update is cancelled. I am connected to the pc via an ethernet cable to my modem, so internet is available, so I do not know what the problem might be. I was hoping that if the pc could update it would solve my USB problem. Regards Fanus

Third-party driver updaters are to be avoided like the plague.
There are only three safe sources of driver updates, and "safe" does
not mean there may not be an occasional problem, just that your machine will
not have any likelihood of getting something you really don't want like

Re: Syncing Outlook on 2nd computer
Brian Vogel <britechguy@...>
No.
If you are comfortable with dealing with registry exports and imports it is possible to export the Outlook account settings from the registry and import them on another machine. Otherwise you go through the account setup process again, and since it's pretty much fully automated these days it really isn't difficult nor does it take long.

You may be able to find a very accessible driver software DVD as well as an online installation utility on the BHP site. I would request you to be very careful while proceeding with this utility since it tends to install a lot of other unwanted things as well.
