Hi Laz,

That's what made it so weird!  I marked the message as, Not Spam, then deleted it.  But, in thinking back I didn't remove it from the Spam folder,.  I thought that once it had been marked as, not spam, I could delete it without having to move it to my In-box.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

when a person or more likely their email provider, marks a message
from any groups.io group as spam it makes the situation worse for all
groups.io groups in that more and more email providers automatically
start marking messages from any groups.io groups as spam. This is why
groups.io will unsubscribe you and send you that message which should
make you aware of the situation.

one can easily avoid being unsubscribed from their groups.io groups by
checking their spam/junk folders daily and marking any messages from
any groups.io groups as not spam and sending itback to the in box
instead. Of course those of you who use email clients may need to do
this on the email provider's page and not just in your email client.

If all people would contact their email providers and let them know
that they subscribed to receive those messages and let them know to
just let one decide for oneself and determine which messages are spam,
things would run a lot smoother.

I hope that clears it up a bit.

Re: The facts about getting a SmartVision phone repaired

Ron Canazzi

Hello Group,

I think that at least for the short term, this issue of Blind accessible phones VS non Blind accessible phones is rather moot. The Apple iPhone Se second generation (similar to the iPhone 8 in many ways but with superior internal workings <g>) is still available for $400 US and (yes it has a home key) and it is cheaper and more supportable than the Smart Vision phones.  If you really have trouble with the touch screens and touch gestures, you can for an additional $50 US purchase an external keyboard and should be good to go with most features.

Don't be afraid of IOS or Android phones just because of the touch screen and gestures.  Fumble Fingers (that's me) was deathly afraid of them, but like the guy jumping off the 25 foot diving board (I did that once as well with much less success--really hurt my pudgy belly <g>0 I took the plunge and adapted to the iPhone much more easily than ever I could have dreamed.

In addition, you can automate many features such as your contacts for phoning people. I don't need to do this, but many people, once they enter a person or business into their contacts (a one time for each entry process) they simply ask Siri to call whomever (or is it whoever? I always get that one wrong <g>.

Just my 2 or maybe it's     1 and a half in my case cents!

wifi drive question

Fanus

Hello list
This is perhaps a very stupid question but it might solve my problem. I have
a WD wifi drive but it loses the network connection frequently. Now I did a
reset and I did the following, as described in the manual, to explain the
below question: I navigated to the network item and selected the wifi drive
as network. I typed the password and it connected. I activated Google Chrome
and typed the ip address of the drive network. On the page I selected wifi
and my router network name appeared. I selected that and after typing the
password I got the message that the wifi drive is connected. Now for my
question: on the systray it still shows the wifi drive as network with the
words "internet access". Should I leave that as is i.e. that will then
access the internet via my normal router or must I select my router network
as the active network? I hope the experts understand what I am asking. In
the past I selected my router network and that may just be why my wifi drive
lost connection.
Regards
Fanus

Zipping from, C:\temp, if I type that into the Run dialogue I get a message saying.,
Windows cannot find ’C:\temp’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

I've tried zipping from many different places on the C / operating system drive and everytime getting the same error message as originally posted.

I guess I've been leaning towards a permission problem because of what info I get from searches say about the message I get whenever I try to zip a file.  But like you stated, I wouldn't be able to delete or access certain areas or files if it's a permission problem and that's led me to believe it could be a problem with the utility itself.  As for reinstalling Windows, I haven't done a fresh reinstall in many years and it's been a lingering thought for many months, nothing more nothing less.

Re: Compress Zip Folder Error Message

Gene

I don't think this is a permission problem. You said in a later message that you can compress files using 7zip. The same permission problem should have forbidden it.

Also, if you can still add and delete files, I see no permission problem with compressing them. And when you compress a file, you aren't changing the original. It makes no sense that you can work with files in general but that the compression of a file would present a permission problem.

This is an example of being skeptical if something doesn't make logical sense. Don't assume that a computer is smarter than you are. If something contradicts itself, skepticism is in order. I don't know what the problem is but I wonder if there is something corrupted in the zip utility itself.

Why do you want to reinstall Windows?

Hi All,

On my Windows 7 Pro system I started getting the following message whenever I try to compress a file with the Windows default compression tool from the context menu.

Compressed (zipped) Folders Error
Unable to complete the operation.
Access is denied.

Can someone tell me how to fix this problem, please?! I've searched for a solution, but I don't understand exactly what to do with the steps I've found for changing permissions in the Security tab of the file I'm attempting to compress. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

Re: How to get into CMOS with speech access

Smiling?

General Keystrokes to get into the BIOS:
F3,
F4,
F10,
F12,
Tab,
Escape,
Control+Alt+F3,
Control+Alt+Del,
Control+Alt+Shift+Del (using Del from the keypad),
Control+Insert,
Control+Shift+Esc,
Fn+[any "F" function key] (on some laptops).

As shown above, the keystroke can vary from machine to machine, but
machines manufactured by the same manufacturer, for the most part anyway,
will have the same keystroke.

BIOS is a firmware that is embedded on a small memory chip on the system
board (commonly referred to as a motherboard). It controls the keyboard,
monitor, disk drives, and other devices involved.

Try to remember though, there can just about always be exceptions.

What it sounds like you are truly speaking of is not CMOS, but what is
called the BIOS.

The BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is where the boot sequence (boot order)
is determined for the machine and how you the user gets to this, is
different for each various machine.

Just go online and search for your make and BIOS keystroke.

On the main screen use the icon that says exhibitors. Then go to list of exhibitors and double tap. By name. You can go in that way and you won’t have to put in your credentials again

I'm going to list the steps I took and see if it's the info you're
looking for, if not let me know: I went to the attendee list, found a
friend and clicked on their name. I then clicked on add them as a
contact. I believe the friend then has to go into the menu on the main
page where you look at your notifications but their is also a button
that says contacts. Once they go into contacts they will see all
people who have requested them as contacts and they have to confirm
them. In this same Contact list there is an export button at the top.
once you select it, you can then click on some or all of the names to
export to your phone's contact list. This is all I did but I believe
the key here is that the person has to confirm your request before
their info can be downloaded off the app. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how often the attendee list is updated on the app. For
instance, if the list is updated hourly or daily, maybe your friend
was not in the list right away. Also, the list is by last name but if
your friend accidentally put their last name first or mistyped it then
it will be hard to find. I found yours and my name easily. If you
want, I can help look for your friend's name in the attendee list. The
section index on the right side of the iPhone screen makes it somewhat
quicker to scroll through.

In the app, below the Agenda and Sponsors you will find the
Exhibitors
button. That will take you to an alphabetical list of the
exhibitors.
Was that what you were asking?

I've played around with it so if you have a specific question
maybe
I
can help. When you first download it, you type in nfb2020 in the
search (keeping in mind it is lower case and all one word) then in
the
event ID you type nfb2020 in again. It will ask you to enter the
info
you registered for the convention with (I don't remember if you
can
look at it without at least entering some info) then it will take
you
to your profile screen. You can enter as much or as little as you
want
others to see (or none at all). The info for the convention is
very
accessible. When you are in the schedule of events, if you double
tap
on an event you are interested in, it has a Zoom link to that
event,

a
description of it and you can set a reminder for that event and
even
add it to a schedule of things you want to attend. Like I said it
is
one of the most accessible event apps I've come across.

You can also use the website for the event :
event.CrowdCompass.com/nfb20
Event password: nfb2020

There are commands that can be done by phone. The two I found listed in
zoom help are:
*6 - Toggle mute/unmute
and
*9 - Raise hand.
There is a star before these numbers. that may indicate that the starr, or
key to the left of 0 must be pressed first.

Margaret, for most Zoom-related meeting invitations, there are typically
several phone numbers listed. So, all you need is to grab one of the
numbers, make a note of the meeting ID number and its Pass Code. These will
generally be included in the info you receive once registered for the
meeting.

So, three things to worry about when joining a Zoom meeting by phone: A
phone number to call in, a meeting ID number that will need to be punched
in, and the meeting's Pass Code.

Now, there are some gestures that are part of Zoom's keyboard commands, I'm
not certain if any of them can be invoked on any other toy aside from the
smart ones. Example, to raise the hand to be recognized for purposes of
asking a question is Star Sign-9; same gesture lowers the hand, or the
meeting host can lower the raised hand. On the computer, the keystroke is
Alt+Y!

If you have NO PLANS to ask any questions, but just listening in, you should
be fine using your regular P.O.T. toy to join your Zoom meeting.

Sincerely,
Olusegun
