I guess the contacts downloaded from the convention app are viewed as
a separate group in the contacts on your phone. There is probably a
setting in your phone to migrate them over to your regular contact
list. As far as the exhibitors contact info there really doesn't seem
to be a way to save them like that of individuals. Some exhibitors
have downloadable pdf's at the bottom of their contact info but I do
not know what those contain. If you were on your computer using the
website you could cut and paste the contact info easily to a document
but on the phone it is more cumbersome. It's a shame that feature was
not implemented.

I'm going to list the steps I took and see if it's the info you're
looking for, if not let me know: I went to the attendee list, found a
friend and clicked on their name. I then clicked on add them as a
contact. I believe the friend then has to go into the menu on the main
page where you look at your notifications but their is also a button
that says contacts. Once they go into contacts they will see all
people who have requested them as contacts and they have to confirm
them. In this same Contact list there is an export button at the top.
once you select it, you can then click on some or all of the names to
export to your phone's contact list. This is all I did but I believe
the key here is that the person has to confirm your request before
their info can be downloaded off the app. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure how often the attendee list is updated on the app. For
instance, if the list is updated hourly or daily, maybe your friend
was not in the list right away. Also, the list is by last name but if
your friend accidentally put their last name first or mistyped it
then
it will be hard to find. I found yours and my name easily. If you
want, I can help look for your friend's name in the attendee list.
The
section index on the right side of the iPhone screen makes it
somewhat
quicker to scroll through.

In the app, below the Agenda and Sponsors you will find the
Exhibitors
button. That will take you to an alphabetical list of the
exhibitors.
Was that what you were asking?

I've played around with it so if you have a specific question
maybe
I
can help. When you first download it, you type in nfb2020 in
the
search (keeping in mind it is lower case and all one word)
then
in
the
event ID you type nfb2020 in again. It will ask you to enter
the
info
you registered for the convention with (I don't remember if
you
can
look at it without at least entering some info) then it will
take
you
to your profile screen. You can enter as much or as little as
you
want
others to see (or none at all). The info for the convention is
very
accessible. When you are in the schedule of events, if you
double
tap
on an event you are interested in, it has a Zoom link to that
event,

a
description of it and you can set a reminder for that event
and
even
add it to a schedule of things you want to attend. Like I said
it
is
one of the most accessible event apps I've come across.

You can also use the website for the event :
event.CrowdCompass.com/nfb20

Re: Question about using the CrowdCompass IOS app

It isn't a link. Place it in the address bar of your browser, not in the run dialog. The address has no http:// nor www. It could be either http://www. or just http. Whatever the case, your browser will probably go to the page. it will try to do so even with the lack of the prefix.

The run dialog has no way of knowing what you are looking for, a file, an address, something else.

Issue With AMD Radiant Graphic/Display Settings With Windows 10 Upgrade

Ron Canazzi

Hi group,

I recently upgraded Windows 10 version 1903 to Windows 10version 1909.  Everything seemed to go just fine and everything works great with speech and NVDA.  However when I boot the system, I get a message as follows:
Windows cannot find the AMD Radiant Graphics device or the driver for this device is malfunctioning.  Please install the proper drivers for this device."  Now before the upgrade, when I looked at the system tray, there indeed was an icon called Radiant graphics manager.  Now when I look at the system tray, there is an icon called Intel registered HD graphics.

I went to the radiant website and downloaded a package of drivers and did an install.  Now the installation software was not that accessible. I clicked on a button during the early stages of the installation that I thought might be the install button. After a minute or so, the window closed with no verbal indication of any kind.  But when I boot the system, I still get the error about the radiant graphics device.

A long time ago, the late great Carlos who founded the Tech Talk mailing list gave a detailed description as to how to troubleshoot such issues.  I cannot find the e-mail he sent years ago.

Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks in advance.

The

Event password: nfb2020

Here is the link for the test meeting. If you have problems, let us know.
https://zoom.us/test

If the window opens properlyafter you press the join button, tab around and
see what you see. Use join with audio if that is the only thihng that
applies. Then tab around again. You will probably see a way to test your
audio and your microphone. The audio test may start by itself after you
join with audio.
To test with the microphone, press the button that applies with the space
bar, talk for a few seconds then stop. If things are working well, you
should hear yourself shortly after you stop talking.

You can probably tab around the interface as well and see the things I

able to find the page if no one knows it. If you test the microphone and
hear no audio, that doesn't necessarily mean your microphone isn't working.
You may need to change the source in volume control so the Microphone audio

An interesting line of discussion, as I purchased my scale three or four years ago, and initially it operated as expected.

However now, when it tells me to step on the scale, I do, and it continuously reports "standstill". On one occasion after about 15 seconds of this, it gave me a reading. Subsequently, no reading and just the instruction.

I replaced the battery's, and nothing has improved. Very disappointing, indeed.

If you hit upon a solution, please share it.

Hi all,

Last week Gerald Levy and one other person recommended a talking
bathroom scale, it looks like the brand name is Newline from what it
shows on amazon. I bought it and got it yesterday but after inserting
the batteries so far all my mom and I can get it to do is to say please
wait when we tap it, then there's a beep a few seconds later and then
the scale shuts off.

My mom has been the one doing this so far so I'm not sure at what point
she steps on the scale but what might we be doing wrong? Is there a
certain procedure to follow to make the scale work?

Btw my mom says that after it says please wait there's some letters that
come up on the display that she says looks like out 2, but she says that
she's not sure because apparently the entire letters aren't shown.

Thanks in advance for any help.

For

was not in the list right away. Also, the list is by last name but if
your friend accidentally put their last name first or mistyped it

I've played around with it so if you have a specific question

the

the

double

a

I guess the contacts downloaded from the convention app are viewed as
a separate group in the contacts on your phone. There is probably a
setting in your phone to migrate them over to your regular contact

Re: The facts about getting a SmartVision phone repaired

Abbie Taylor

Hi all,

I also listened to the tech talk presentation on this phone. Although the sales representtive from IrieATT didn't demonstrate the device, I found the program quite helpful.

I recently bought a BlindShell phone, and I love it for its ease of use and accessibility of everything on the phone. But it has had its problems, and I had to replace the unit once already in the two months I've had it. I can't help wondering what will go wrong with the phone next. Since this is my only phone, that's scary.

I'm planning to email BlindShell in the hope that the current bug with dictation can be fixed. If not, I may more seriously consider the Kapsis Smart Vision 2.

I've already checked out some of the videos on the IrieATT site and read the user manual, but I still have questions. Ann tells me the folks at IrieATT are great. So, I may call them if necessary. I never dreamed I'd want a smart phone, since my BrailleNote Touch Plus does just about everything an Android phone can do. But it might be nice to have one with buttons and not have to use a blessed touch screen, even if the device does have quite a learning curve.

Also, the list is by last name but if
your friend accidentally put their last name first or mistyped it then
it will be hard to find. I found yours and my name easily. If you
want, I can help look for your friend's name in the attendee list. The
section index on the right side of the iPhone screen makes it somewhat
quicker to scroll through.

I just tried and I cannot get them to delete either, somewhat annoying.

In the app, below the Agenda and Sponsors you will find the
Exhibitors
button. That will take you to an alphabetical list of the
exhibitors.
Was that what you were asking?

I've played around with it so if you have a specific question
maybe
I
can help. When you first download it, you type in nfb2020 in the
search (keeping in mind it is lower case and all one word) then in
the
event ID you type nfb2020 in again. It will ask you to enter the
info
you registered for the convention with (I don't remember if you
can
look at it without at least entering some info) then it will take
you
to your profile screen. You can enter as much or as little as you
want
others to see (or none at all). The info for the convention is
very
accessible. When you are in the schedule of events, if you double
tap
on an event you are interested in, it has a Zoom link to that
event,

a
description of it and you can set a reminder for that event and
even
add it to a schedule of things you want to attend. Like I said it
is
one of the most accessible event apps I've come across.

You can also use the website for the event :
event.CrowdCompass.com/nfb20
Event password: nfb2020

Hi all,

When you download and install Zoom on your computer, if you activate Zoom, there's a settings button. Press the spacebar on that and then go to the audio tab. You can test both speakers and mike.

I have this scale, and I just stand on it, it tells me my weight. Then it says "ready for operation". I guess that is in case someone else wants to use it. If no one gets on, it beeps and is finished.
You need to try it for yourself. I am totally blind.

Subject: [TechTalk] Newline talking bathroom scale help needed

Re: More trouble with the AttendeeHub iPhone ap

wendy Sheld-Walker

I'm not sure what part of the app you are in. Have you already entered
nfb2020 as the event and nfb2020 as the event password? Also when you
say "my planner" are you talking about "My Schedule " on the menu of
the NFB convention main page? In the app when it says event, most
times it is just talking about nfb2020 and not an individual event at
the convention. I'm pretty sure anyway. Hope this helps.

search for the event, Nfbblebjbj, to be specific, It it says something
strange happened on their end, and let's try again. I tried again more than
once yesterday, but it didn't seem to work. When I tried to cancel the
search, it doesn't seem to budge I've tried redownloading it, but still it
doesn't seem to be working properly. I did manage to use the website, but I
hope I can get step-by-step help with the mobile app before tomorrow when
the convention starts. But any feedback would be much appreciated.
