Hi Jim.  For me, the main thing here is that in one of your past emails, you stated that even Microsoft couldn't help you figure out your problem.  This puts a realistic but painful perspective at the forefront, and it is, that if even the people involved in developing the OS is not able to help in any way, then two things appear clear to me, a hardware problem, or a needed totally clean install of the operating system.  I'd take the second option first because that way, if your clean install fails, then the only problem that remains is a hardware failure on your pc.  I'd advise you to take the step now and get your problem resolved one way or another or else you'll not be able to put your pc to good use, and then your problems will persist with no available help because no one can diagnose your problem.  Solutions have been offered, but the troubles still persist, so what's left but to restart and reset?  I think, really, that the next step is up to you.  Cheers!

Hi Jim,

Here's hoping you would have some or the other way to fix this laptop
but in case you still have these issues here is whatrecommend.

Please backup your documentnts just in case. & then, click on start &
in the search box that comes up, type reset. . Once in the reset
dialogue box. choose the option that tells you wherein it tells you it
would reinstall your windows & you may loose all the programmes &
other data.

There it would also ask you if you would like to install windows
online or offline. I recommend you choose offline installation. incase
that fails choose online. For the online installation to work you
would need a fast & stable internet connection.

within no time you would be done.

In order to read all the screens that may be presented to you from
time to time during installation turn on narrator by pressing
CTRL+Windows+Enter. You may have to turn on Narrator more than once if
you realise it stopped in between which does at times, after the
computer reboots.

My opinion would be to do a totally fresh install of Windows 10,If you
have

your office product key you should be able to download the program from
the

Microsoft store to reinstall it. and you can redownload the JAWS versions
you have licenses for. Another option might be to reset Windows 10 and
choose to save your data, but with all the problems you are having there
must be some big time file corruption's, or hardware problems.

go
back to factory settings, on this dell, and then try to set up my

I tried to add website content to the list of book resources in Voice Dream Reader, and would like to use Easy Reader, if that doesn't work. Can this be done, or is it necessary to use some other methods like Adobe or Blue Fire apps? Which Windows or iPhone apps do you prefer to use with books from this library?

I know Carlos (the former owner of this list) made some sort of Calibre

I also use Codex made by James Scholes, but would also like to give Calibre

When I follow the steps you suggest on the computer that is connected to the printer, I get to the sharing tab under properties and I get a message that this printer cannot be shared on the network.  The printer is a Brother HL-L3210CW Series.  What could be causing this issue?

You cannot share because sharring is when each printer is connected to a p c
of it's own.

Just keep them connected the way you have with the routter. Then, with your
p c do install a new printer for each which is not already installed.

When finished, when you do a print job in the dialog pring window, you will
see all 3 printers if they are own.

Choose the one you wish to use and print.

Important be sure you have different names for each device.

i.e.

lets say the printer already has the name A you can name the second printer
A2, orb, then you can name the 3rd printer A3, or C

if you have any other questions let me know

Do you have the other two no printer is plugged in with a cat five cable to
your network?>

I am not sure what you are saying.

I have the printer plugged into one computer with a standard USB connector.
It works fine on that computer. All three computers are connected to a
network via a router. I thought you could do this and have access to the
printer on the other two computers via the router based network when file
and printer sharing on the network is turned on. Is this not true? What
else do you need to do?

Hi Group,

I bought a printer a few months ago and connected it via cable to one of

the other two systems that are not directly connected to the printer, the
printer does not show up under print options within programs such as
Microsoft Word and Firefox.

What could be causing this and how can it be solved?

Thanks for any help.

latest windows 10, jaws 2020, and disabling cortana

Kimsan

Hi,
How can I disable cortana?
It's annoying, I could be typing an email, reading an article on the web
etc. Out of nowhere, it will say cortana, edit, and I land in an edit box
out of nowhere.
I've put up with it for 3 weeks now, but now it's annoying!

Re: Printer Sharing On A Network

You did not mention which OS. Here are instructions
for Windows 10.

To share a printer on Windows 10 (assuming it's already installed), use
these steps:

Open Settings.

Click on Devices.

Click on Printers & scanners.

Under the "Printer & scanners" section, select the printer that you want to
share.

Click the Manage button.

Click the Printer properties option.

Settings Printer Properties Option

Click the Sharing tab.

Check the Share this printer option.

In the "Share name" field, specify a new short and descriptive name. (If
this is the only printer on the network, you can use the default name.)

Click the Apply button.

Click the OK button.

After you complete the steps, the printer will be available to network
users, but only if the computer is on.

Connect computer to shared printer

To connect devices to the shared printer, use these steps:

Open Settings.

Click on Devices.

Click on Printer & scanners.

Click the Add a printer or scanner button.

Select the printer from the list.

(Optional) If the discovery feature doesn't work, click The printer that I
want isn't listed option.

Choose the Select a shared printer by name option.

Type the path of the printer location:

\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\PRINTER-SHARE-NAME

Configure shared printer using IP address

Source: Windows Central

In the command, make sure to change the "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and
"PRINTER-SHARE-NAME" for the IP address (or computer name) and name of the
printer.

Quick tip: You can also click the Browse button to select the shared
printer.

Click the Next button.

Click the Install driver button (if applicable).

(Optional) Specify an name of the printer connection. For example, Network

Click the Next button.

Click the Finish button.

Once you complete the steps, you should be able to successfully send a print

You cannot share because sharring is when each printer is connected to a p c
of it's own.

Just keep them connected the way you have with the routter. Then, with your
p c do install a new printer for each which is not already installed.

When finished, when you do a print job in the dialog pring window, you will
see all 3 printers if they are own.

Choose the one you wish to use and print.

Important be sure you have different names for each device.

i.e.

lets say the printer already has the name A you can name the second printer
A2, orb, then you can name the 3rd printer A3, or C

if you have any other questions let me know
