Most of the time, I access Facebook on my iPhone 11 using iOS 13. Are use the voiceover screen reader. It’s much easier to access Facebook on my iPhone.

It may be that some sound cards process sound even if they are just plug and play, based on your experience. I'm glad you solved your problem and I may have been wrong about no processing occurring in any sound cards that are plug and play.

But they are so much cheaper and I have never heard of this problem before so I conclude that there are a lot of sound cards that don't. I would still advise trying the much less expensive solution of a sound card first.

I did get a response from the store who told me about FiiO E10K USB DAC.

Well, so far this seems to be working with my desktop. The speech is not getting loud and quiet, thank god!



I have been playing with it for about an hour and I just received it this morning.



I was wondering if someone who has this

DAC can explain all the features in English for dummies.

I tried to e-mail the company and have not received a response.

I have connected to the usb port, the 3.0 usb port off the back of the desktop.

It has a knob that turns it own and the bose speakers are plugged in to the 3.5 jack off the back of the DAC, well not sure wich is the back and the front but, they are plugged in to the same side as the usb connection is on.

Their is a switch, not sure what it does, something about high gain mode and not sure what it is on.

It has 2 channels according to what I was reading off the settings for the

DAC.

It can put out adobe digital sound and microsoft sound and one other sound that was not checked.

Not sure what I should have it on for share mode it had seven settings to choose from.

So any help would be much appreciated.

I do Facebook on three devices: the desktop, running Windows 7 and JAWS 2020; my iPhone running iOs 12 something; and my BrailleNote Touch Plus, where I run the Facebook app. On the computer, I use the mobile Facebook site rather than the "big" site, which I find to be cluttered. The desktop is my favorite way to do it; it's easiest to get to all the things I want. The other devices are mostly for when I'm away from the desktop, (or my husband has commandeered it to do genealogy)! The phone works fine if you just want to do a quick check, and the BrailleNote with the app   does some things very well (plus I like being able to do it "silently" using just Braille.)

When I started using Chrome a few years ago, I have always been able to tell when a download was complete. Chrome has always announced that the download was complete and gave me the option to Shift F6 to the Downloads area. I've had the same experience with the new Edge. Did I turn on a feature in chrome without knowing it? If I did and someone knows how this is done, can you post it for the group?

Hi Shirley,

I am not sure about other operating systems, but with Windows 10, I went to programs and features and used the uninstall feature for Avast.  It is not too accessible, but I believe if you run the uninstall from programs and features, if you press enter on one of the inaccessible buttons, the rest is automated and the uninstall completes.  Give that a try and see what happens.

To download the Avast! Removal utility. That’s how I did it when I uninstalled it from my Windows 7.

like it would give me the information, but I couldn't get the

I'm pretty sure the tech who installed the new computer checked the
companies' web sites, but I'm sure he told me the printer and scanner
wouldn't work on Windows 10 Pro and he set things up so I can
continue to use the printer and scanner with the Windows 7 machine.

I don't print a lot and primarily just scan snail mail , so the setup
worked okay until a recent project when having a printer and scanner
on the new machine would have been a big help.

Since I'd rather not buy new equipment if I don't have to earlier

the printer that might solve the problem, but wasn't successful in
finding anything about Windows 10 and my model. I'm going to try
again and will try to get their tech support. I think I remember
seeing something about HP tech support not helping if one doesn't

this thread of great interest since, apparently, I can't use the HP
LaserJet printer and Xerox scanner that I have on Windows 7 on the
Windows 10 Pro and have to switch computers to print and scan. I'm
considering an all-in-one and would prefer buttons.

You can do that but on the Avast site, they say to try using the regular uninstall method, add/Remove programs first.

If you run Add/Remove programs in the usual way, you will get to a point where you lose speech during the installation process. Press space and you should get speech back. I don't know if it matters, but to avoid moving without speech, do something after every step in the procedure, such as reading the title bar. You are dealing with a nonspeaking are you sure dialog. its been years since I've removed Avast sso I can't give you more details.

Of course, you can try the uninstall utility first but it may be more trouble and inconvenience. You may have to run it in safe mode.

To download the Avast! Removal utility. That’s how I did it when I uninstalled it from my Windows 7.

I'm not 100% sure that there aren't drivers that will allow me to use
the printer and scanner on the Windows 10 Pro.

Before I got the Win 10 last fall, I thought Microsoft had some tool
where one could check and see if existing Win 7 printers and scanners
would work on Windows 10 Pro.  Someone posted a link that sounded
like it would give me the information, but I couldn't get the
information.
I'm pretty sure the tech who installed the new computer checked the
companies' web sites, but I'm sure he told me the printer and scanner
wouldn't work on Windows 10 Pro and he set things up so I can
continue to use the printer and scanner with the Windows 7 machine.

I don't print a lot and primarily just scan snail mail , so the setup
worked okay until a recent project when having  a printer and scanner
on the new machine would have been a big help.

Since I'd rather not buy new equipment if I don't have to earlier

I looked on the HP site to try to find out if there was a driver for
the printer that might solve the problem, but wasn't successful in
finding anything about Windows 10 and my model. I'm going to try
again and will try to get their tech support. I think I remember
seeing something about HP tech support not helping if one doesn't
have the serial number, but I could well be wrong.

Do you know if Microsoft has some compatibility tool like I thought
there was or what to look for on the HP and Xerox sites?

Could you post what you find out about the controls?  I'm finding this
thread of great interest since, apparently, I can't use the HP
LaserJet printer and Xerox scanner that I have on Windows 7 on the
Windows 10 Pro and have to switch computers to print and scan.  I'm
considering an all-in-one and would prefer buttons.

Wake, Reboot and Sleep Tasks

Hi All,
 
Running Windows 7 pro on a desktop computer.  At our other house I have this Windows 7 computer using wake, reboot and sleep tasks.  Meaning on each Saturday the tasks wake the computer up at 7:00 am, reboot it at 2:00 PM and put it back to sleep at 10:00 PM.  When each of these tasks are performed a batch file puts a text file in my Dropbox letting me know these tasks were performed, and these text files I receive in my Dropbox at another house.
 
Well anyways, all these tasks quit working for an unknown reason and the big one is the, Wake, task, it just won't wake up the system from sleep mode. It works fine when the system is up and running,
but not otherwise.
 
Can anyone give me some pointers on a setting or anything that might be causing the task or tasks not to function like they used to?!  All help will be greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.  Thank y'll very much for any input.
