Hi Margaret,

If you have the model numbers of your printer and scanner please post them and maybe someone that uses the same models can provide more compatibility with Windows 10 information, or we could help you check for updated drivers.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

Mike and All:

I'm not 100% sure that there aren't drivers that will allow me to use
the printer and scanner on the Windows 10 Pro.

Before I got the Win 10 last fall, I thought Microsoft had some tool
where one could check and see if existing Win 7 printers and scanners
would work on Windows 10 Pro.  Someone posted a link that sounded like
it would give me the information, but I couldn't get the information.
I'm pretty sure the tech who installed the new computer checked the
companies' web sites, but I'm sure he told me the printer and scanner
wouldn't work on Windows 10 Pro and he set things up so I can continue
to use the printer and scanner with the Windows 7 machine.

I don't print a lot and primarily just scan snail mail , so the setup
worked okay until a recent project when having  a printer and scanner on
the new machine would have been a big help.

Since I'd rather not buy new equipment if I don't have to earlier

I looked on the HP site to try to find out if there was a driver for the
printer that might solve the problem, but wasn't successful in finding
anything about Windows 10 and my model.  I'm going to try again and will
try to get their tech support.  I think I remember seeing something
about HP tech support not helping if one doesn't have the serial number,
but I could well be wrong.

Do you know if Microsoft has some compatibility tool like I thought
there was or what to look for on the HP and Xerox sites?

Thanks,

Margaret

Lost your original email, but just talked to Amazon accessibility and this particular model does just have a touch pad.

I found the number for 'accessible products hotline' and it is closed now, but will call tomorrow if they are available on weekends. Next week, if not.

Hi,

I am looking for something that is both accessible and possibly controlled with an App. I’m open to any platform at this point. I’m moving in august and looking to get something for my new apartment. I don’t want one of those tiny little K cups that does like a single cup of 6 ounces of coffee. Smile! I would inject coffee intravenously if I didn’t like the taste. Thanks in advance.

It has numerous buttons, a little wheel (which uses actions with the buttons, or key strokes from the computer).  It copies, prints, fax, and can be used wireless (which I didn’t bother to set up).

I purchased it online and I only paid $89.00 for it.  That was about three years ago.

The ink is in a drumlike container which is easily removed and changed.  I paid $15 for the ink.  Changed once since I have had it.  It can be set up to use just black or color. Don’t know if it is still available.

Well, so far this seems to be working with my desktop. The speech is not getting loud and quiet, thank god!
I have been playing with it for about an hour and I just received it this morning.
I was wondering if someone who has this

DAC can explain all the features in English for dummies.

I tried to e-mail the company and have not received a response.

I have connected to the usb port, the 3.0 usb port off the back of the desktop.

It has a knob that turns it own and the bose speakers are plugged in to the 3.5 jack off the back of the DAC, well not sure wich is the back and the front but, they are plugged in to the same side as the usb connection is on.

Their is a switch, not sure what it does, something about high gain mode and not sure what it is on.

It has 2 channels according to what I was reading off the settings for the

DAC.

It can put out adobe digital sound and microsoft sound and one other sound that was not checked.

Not sure what I should have it on for share mode it had seven settings to choose from.

So any help would be much appreciated.

Thank everyone for all the tips and help in my jerney.

Cheers Heather

Doesn't matter because this Canon printer/scanner, like the Xerox 3210, is no longer available.  Fellow list members, when you offer a product recommendation based on your own personal experience, please check first onAmazon or elsewhere to determine whether it is still available.  It is pointless to recommend a product that maybe accessible, but has been discontinued and is no longer on the market. For anyone who is interested, the Pantum P2502W wireless monochrome laser printer I mentioned previously is currently available on Amazon for $80:

hello all, glad to be back, it's been a while!

Preliminary notes:
1. I do apologise for the length of this email; if you do not enjoy long reads, I suggest you should skip this one.
2. Since this is only loosly related to the main topic of this list, I kindly request all those interested in this announcement to avoid responding directly to this email. Please use the provided contact details instead.

I have been using TeamTalk very often these months; my students seem to appreciate both the sound quality and the reliability of this platform. The client's interface does have its own logic, but it can be challenging sometimes to understand all its functionalities and be able to use it properly. I remember I spent a very long time trying to figure everything out the first time. Therefore, I decided to start a mailing list whose purpose would be to help those who have never used TeamTalk before, and also give experienced users a chance to exchange ideas and learn from each other. I expect TeamTalk Tips to be a relatively low-traffic list, but I do believe TeamTalk deserves its own list, along more popular ones like Skype, Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

In collaboration with a few friends, I have also made the decision of opening my own TeamTalk server to the world and try to start a new VI community. Its name is Inwards Sight, and its main multiple goals are as follows:
1. To offer a place for people to come together, spend good moments in each other's company, meet new friends and exchange thoughts and information about anything, from arts and culture to technology, accessible games, radio or any type of entertainment.
2. There'll be a space dedicated to serious learning and teaching, for those interested in learning a new skill or improving one they already have. For the time being, we are able to offer language courses, music related classes, computer/screen reader/MS office and GSuite  training,. I'm also trying to convince two professionals I know to come and teach programming and audio editing, but I'm still waiting for confirmation.
3. Last but not least, we'll try to offer live technical support for at least a few hours every week, to those who have problems with their computers and need assistance in trying to solve them.

We intend to keep these services open to everyone in the world, and completely free, although we'll be grateful to those who decide to donate according to their own possibilities.

Should you be interested in contributing to this new community, either as a friend, a student or a teacher, please do not hesitate to ask for more details, we'll be delighted to hear from anyone. We're also very grateful to all those who might be able to spread the word and tell their friends and acquaintances about this innitiative.

Hi Chris,

I need more information about this Laser printer issue.  You own a Xerox Work Center 3210.  I don't see that on Amazon now.  I do see something called a 3335 Work Center Mona chrome blue/white or black/white.  I am not sure quite what this means. Does it mean that this is essentially a black/white printer only?  Would the blue/white mean that the text would be in blue rather than black?  I can't determine whether the 3335 version is touch screen or has buttons.  The description doesn't say.  With touch screen printers, is there an app of some sort--any voice support?  I get not.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Wanting an accessible laser printer scanner copier

Holly, I have another suggestion.  Instead of buying an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier, which may not be accessible, why not consider a separate printer and scanner/copier?  For about $80, you could buy the Pantum P2502W wireless monochrome laser printer, which is totally accessible because it has only two buttons on the top panel, plus a rocker-style power switch, and add a separate scanner for about $120, such as an Epson Perfection model, which could also be used for copying.  I'm afraid that it may be difficult to impossible to find an all-in-one unit that is accessible without sighted help because almost all of them now have LCD displays.  Unfortunately, the Xerox 3210 all-in-one unit is no longer available, and I have no idea whether its successor model has the same control layout.  But I can tell you that the Pantum P2502W is a very good inexpensive printer that is easy to use. To be perfectly blunt, I don't think you would learn much by visiting an office products store like Staples or Office Depot, if they are even open in your area, because Covid 19 safety precautions may preclude customers from touching or handlingprinters that are on display, if they are even on display, in the first place.   The last time I visited a local Staples store, I found only a few printer/scanners on display, and the sales clerks were not very knowledgeable or helpful when I inquired about their accessibility.  Years ago, the NFB or some other blindness organization maintained a web site that listed electronic products that were known to be accessible, but I guess they could not keep it up to date, and it was discontinued.  Too bad.

Does anyone know why my Security Essentials updates are showing up in optional updates rather than important updates like Defender does? I have to check for definition updates rather than have them show up on their own.

Do I need to change a setting?

Hi Margaret,

Is it possible to get and install updated drivers so your current equipment will work with Windows 10?

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Holly,

Could you post what you find out about the controls?  I'm finding this
thread of great interest since, apparently, I can't use the HP LaserJet
printer and Xerox scanner that I have on Windows 7 on the Windows 10 Pro
and have to switch computers to print and scan.  I'm considering an
all-in-one and would prefer buttons.

Thanks,

Margaret
