Re: enabling windows defender?

Mike B.

Hi Troy,

See if this tutorial will help:
From: Jim Flusche
Windows defender security center.

** Now shortened to just Windows security in the W2004update.

This is a text tutorial, provided freely by Jim Flusche in the name of Jesus!  anyone may freely share this file.

This file is updated to the W2004 update.

* The security of your computer is the most important program on your computer!

*How to use the Windows security program on your computer?

*Tip, pin the Windows security program to the Taskbar.

How do I do that?

Press the windows key, followed by the down arrow, you land in the All Apps list box.

Press the letter W, down arrow and highlight, windows  security .

Press the applications key, arrow down to more sub menu, right arrow to, pin to Taskbar, press enter.

Now the Windows  security program is pinned to the Taskbar, you can skip going directly through the settings area and all the below steps to get to it.

*Tip, after pinning it to the taskbar, just press windows key+T, type the letter W, until you hear Windows security, press the Enter key to open it.

*Tip, how to go through the settings area to find the Windows security program.

Press Windows key+I, you will land in the settings area search edit box, Tab one time.

Either press the Right arrow key, or just press the End key to, Update and security, press the spacebar, Tab one time.

Down arrow two times to, Windows security , press the spacebar.

Tab one time to, open Windows security, Press the Spacebar.

*tip, If you have a new computer, you might hear, use Windows security instead.

*tip, After you open the Windows security program.

On my computer I hear, Virus & threat protectionNo action needed, 1 of 7.

** Now with Jaws 2020 I need to Press the Down arrow two times and then I Press the up arrow to see all the catigories under Windows Security.

Now Arrow up to Virus & threat protection, you will now hear, 2 of 8, instead of 1 of 7.

Press Enter on, Virus & threat protection, my computer says, No threats found, Quick scan Button, Press Enter on quick scan button to start your own  scan
on your computer.

When the scan was finished   I herd a chime followed by, a New notification from Windows Security, Windows Defender scan results, Microsoft Defender Antivirus
scanned your device at 6:10:44 PM on ‎7/‎1/‎2020. No new threats were found.

*tip, During the scan I Pressed numpad minus to acttivate the Jaws scan cursor followed by Page up a few times, followed by the down arrow to read the
progress of the running  scan.‑

If you miss the audio notice message, press Windows key+A,Tab two times and down arrow one time, and listen to the action center item, windows security
notice should be the first item.

Now to do a full scan, follow the above directions to the quick scan button, this time tab one more time to, Scan options Link, press the spacebar.

You land on,  Allowed threats link, Tab to full scan radio button, checked, Tab one time to, Custom scan radio button not checked, Or tab one more time
to Windows Defender Offline scan radio button not checked.

Now after what ever radio button you choose, Tab to, the scan now button, press the spacebar.

*Tip, if you choose the off line scan, you will hear, save your work, or you may only hear scan now, press the Scan now button again, you will get the
users account notification.

Tab to yes, press the enter key.

You will hear, signing out, now your computer will begin the restart process while Windows Security does an off line scan.

Windows Security will scan your computer during the restart process, when you hear the password or the pin edit box, Windows Security has finished the
off line scan.

*tip After you enter your pin or password, the Windows Security window may come up instead of your desktop.

When you press enter on the windows security program pinned to the Taskbar, or use it's shortcut windows key+number row position pinned to the Taskbar.

In my case, press Windows key+6, will open the windows  security program, you get to skip all the steps in the settings area of W-10 on getting to the
Windows  security program.

*How to check the Device performance & health of your computer.

Go to Windows  Security.

Press the spacebar or enter key on, Device performance & health.

Wait for a few minutes.

Now either Press the Down arrow, or Tab a few times to, Health report List box.

You should hear, Health report List box, Windows UpdateNo issues, 1 of 3

Down arrow one time, you should hear, Storage capacityNo issues.

Down arrow again, you should hear, Device driverNo issues.

* In my opinion the built-in Windows Security program from Microsoft is all you need to keep your computer safe, but if you wish to spend unnecessary money
for another anti-virous program, then go ahead!

The Windows Security program is much easier to use, then it is on trying to explain in a short text file, on how to use the Windows Security program.

Well I did my best, I hope I was still able to help some of you, on learning about using the Windows Security program on your computer.

* Important, remember The security of your computer is the most important program on your computer!

You can email me  My email is:

Sincerely: Jim Flusche.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Subject: [TechTalk] enabling windows defender?

Hi all,

Now that I've uninstalled that webroot that I asked about earlier I'm
trying to make sure my computer is protected in other ways. I went to
google and asked how to tell if windows defender is enabled and I found
a place where it said that it's automatically working if no other
antivirus programs are running but is that true?

Re: KaiOS Algotel Go Flip3

There was a time when a tower may have gone down near me. My signal strength dropped from around three bars to about one bar. If I hadn't been able to check the signal strength, while I could have surmised that signal strength was the problem, I would have had no verification. It wouldn't have been necessary, but it was nice that I could verify that with my old phone and verify that the problem wasn't my phohne.

something is flaky, I can check signal strength and discover, oh, that's
why. I only have one bar. But that's gone with my Nokia. Pam.

The speech my current phone uses for doing things is the Google Assistant

the signal strength and if it can read it on the home screen or if you have
to issue a special screen-reader command.

It should be, but look at what the system tray says. If it doesn't indicate that it is running, then reboot and see what happens. I don't know what it will say, it may not say anything about the actual name of the program, it may say something about your computer being protected.

When I had the Nokia n95 with added speech, ( forget right now which one it was), right on the front page, so to speek, it gave the name of the phone, that it was on TMobile, and how many bars of battery life were left, and how many bars of signal strength. It was in bars, and it said it in bars. Oh; the screenreader I just remembered was mobile speak. Yes, I know that was a screenreader written especially for us, but I wish other phones did it that way. Pam.

All the title bar says is malware bytes antimalware.

I seem to remember that we couldn't upgrade past 1.75 in the usual way and I'm been to the malware bytes official site but couldn't tell what I needed to download.

There are programs where you can't update from a version that is too old. You may have to uninstall and reinstall the program.  But I don't know if that is the case with this program.

Incidentally before I posted my question I used the jaws cursor to find

got an error doing that.

On My Shiny Android toys, no need to issue any special

command(s) to obtain this info. Numbers of bars, type of
connectivity--4G or LTE, WI-FI strength, and battery-related
info are all readable. These are displayed at the topmost
part of my toys and swiping from left to right reveals info
on each one. Also, I can swipe down with two fingers to

Not sure I explained anything clearly, but I'll try to

There is no easy way to check your network strength or battery without going
into settings is there?

I can’t ask the assistant this info I tried.

a jaws settings question

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

What jaws settings do I need to change so that for example when I use the windows key with a letter jaws just performs the function I want and doesn't say anything? I used to have it set that way but after having to reinstall jaws this week I've been all through the key labels in settings and can't seem to get it to do what I want, it says that I can't disable either windows key from speaking so what I want to do must be done some other way.

I have both jaws 2018 and jaws 2021 installed and the same thing happens no matter what version I'm using.

Yes smartphones can tell you this, both iPhone and android do. I have an iPhone and an android too.
Some feature phones can too, but not KaiOS phones apparently.

As far as I know, signal strength is shown as a number of bars so it’s a graphic. The information is likely available somewhere in the actual information used buy the chip in digital form because my old phone was able to tell me the number of bars if I used its speech feature. I don't mean the screen-reader. I mean the feature that let you do certain things hands off with the phone. One of those things was to ask about the signal strength and it would announce it. But screen-readers evidently can't see it directly on the home screen, that's my guess.
The speech my current phone uses for doing things is the Google Assistant and has no access to the information. I wonder if smart phones can tell you the signal strength and if it can read it on the home screen or if you have to issue a special screen-reader command.

On my earlier one, it is in the settings menu. You have to go to device
information, and arrow down twice and it tells you your battery level.
There is no way to get signal strength, though. I think both of those
should be on the home screen. Pam.

I haven't found a way to get that information anywhere in the interface.
While I suspect it could be gotten somehow, I suspect it would take some
sort of special command. I doubt it is sent to the screen in accessible
form.

On My Shiny Android toys, no need to issue any special screen reader
command(s) to obtain this info. Numbers of bars, type of connectivity--4G
or LTE, WI-FI strength, and battery-related info are all readable. These
are displayed at the topmost part of my toys and swiping from left to right
reveals info on each one. Also, I can swipe down with two fingers to launch
Notifications; here, more info about any of these is also displayed and
read.

Not sure I explained anything clearly, but I'll try to answer questions.

Sincerely,

Envoyé de mon iPhone

Hello list,

So I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue? I updated both my PCs to the latest JFW February release and on my desktop, Jaws doesn’t seem to recognize or access the Windows 10 clipboard history. At first, I thought it was my machine, but after troubleshooting and reviewing my clipboard settings, I realized it was Jaws. If I arrow a few time this or that way, and press enter, Jaws will paste the corresponding text and my sighted wife confirmed for me that when I do the windows key plus V shortcut command, clipboard history does come up. All Jaws says though is lank.

This is proving to be an extremely frustrating issue as I use this particular feature a lot throughout the day due to my business.

Anyone else come across this problem? Any workarounds short of downgrading to the previous version of Jaws? Note, I don’t have this issue on my HP Envy laptop.

Thanks,

Cristobal
