Hi,

I copied and pasted some information that Laz had recently posted to the list below, you can check this out to see if you might be interested in something like this.  I did buy this, but I haven’t had the time yet to connect it to see how well it works though.  I bought mine from Amazon for I think $ 34.99, as it was on sale, and the regular price was $69.99.

Janet

The portable Swivel Jack RTX Bluetooth transmitter/receiver is just $44.99! Perfect for making your Victor Stream or any device with a headphone jack, able to connect to your Bluetooth headphones or speaker! Connect it to your computer's USB port and have it come through your Bluetooth headset or speaker! The receiver side speaks everything from power on through power off! It boasts a range of 100 Feet and much more...

I hope that helps.

Stay well,

Microsoft is force installing a Windows 10 update that removes the embedded
32-bit version of Adobe Flash Player from the operating system.
In October, we reported that Microsoft had released the KB4577586 optional
update to remove the embedded 32-bit Flash Player from Windows and prevent
it from being installed again.
32-bit Flash shown in Windows 10 Control Panel
This update was only available from the Microsoft Catalog, and once
installed, could no longer be removed. This update marks an end to embedded
Flash in the Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows Server operating systems.
Starting yesterday, Microsoft has begun to distribute the 'Update for
Removal of Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 (KB4577586)' update via Windows
Update as what they state is an optional update.
IMPORTANT As part of the end of support for Adobe Flash, KB4577586 is now
available as an optional update from Windows Update (WU) and Windows Server
Update Services (WSUS). Installing KB4577586 will remove Adobe Flash Player
permanently from your Windows device. Once installed, you cannot uninstall
KB4577586. For more details about Microsoft's plans, see Update on Adobe
Flash Player End of Support.

In our tests, though, the update is automatically installed without your
permission and without prompting you first.

Once installed, the KB4577586 update will be listed under 'Other Updates' in
the 'View update history' section, as shown below.

Re: NVDA 2020.4 released

Quentin Christensen

Basically because we started the process towards the release back in December, optimistically thinking we might get it released last year.  In the end we didn't want to rush it out just for the sake of that, and then we found a couple of critical issues with the beta we wanted to fix before we released it.  We have always said we'd rather push back a release and give you something stable and functional, than push out something which isn't ready, just to meet an arbitrary deadline.  It did end up being a fair bit later than we were originally anticipating, but we are confident 2020.4 is a solid release you will find very stable.

The next release will be 2021.1.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Hi everyone,

NV Access is pleased to announce that version 2020.4 of NVDA, the free screen reader for Microsoft Windows, is now available for download. We encourage all users to upgrade to this version.

NVDA 2020.4 This release includes new Chinese Input methods, an update to Liblouis and the elements list (NVDA+f7) now works in focus mode. Context sensitive help is now available when pressing F1 in NVDA dialogs. Improvements to symbol pronunciation rules, speech dictionary, Braille message and skim reading. Bug fixes and improvements to Mail, Outlook, Teams, Visual Studio, Azure Data Studio, Foobar2000. On the web, there are improvements to Google Docs, and greater support for ARIA. Plus many other important bug fixes and improvements.

Please note, after updating any software, it is a good idea to restart the computer. Restart by going to the Shutdown dialog, selecting “restart” and pressing ENTER. Updating software can change files which are in use. This can lead to instability and strange behaviour which is resolved by rebooting. This is the first thing to try if you do notice anything odd after updating.

To read more, and download NVDA 2020.4, please see: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2020-4/

Kind regards

I'm not sure about the All Mail folder but, the Trash folder flushes itself once a month.  I haven't been able to determine what day of the month but, it definitly empties it once a month.  When I checked my All Mail folder earlier today, oddly enough it had the same amount of emails as the Trash folder.  When I deleted the contents of the All Mail folder it didn't do anything to the count of emails in the Trash folder.  This is the first time I've ever checked the All Mail folder and I don't know how many years I've had this Gmail account but, at least 8 for this particular account.  The amount of emails in each of the All Mail & Trash folders was 149, so I emttied both folders and out of curiosity I'm going to take a peek at them more often than I normally would.  I do not have an Important folder.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Are you talking about two different things?  I believe the original question
is for using an e-mail program.  You appear to be commenting on using the
web site itself.  And for quite some time, it has not been necessary to use
simple HTML on the web site.  I haven't used the web site much so I'm not
saying it isn't easier to use the simple HTML choice on the web site but I
see no reason that it should matter when using an actual e-mail program.

I don't know if this makes a difference with the newer email clients but, in
the past you needed to have Gmail set to, Basic HTML, view and not the,
Standard, view for screen reading programs to work correctly.

Microsoft force installs Windows 10 update to remove Flash Player!

Janet

Hi Everyone,
I was just doing some reading, and I came across this, and I thought some might be interested in what I copied and pasted below.

Microsoft force installs Windows 10 update to remove Flash Player
By Lawrence Abrams
February 17, 2021 11:19 AM 4
Adobe Flash

Microsoft is force installing a Windows 10 update that removes the embedded 32-bit version of Adobe Flash Player from the operating system.
In October, we reported that Microsoft had released the KB4577586 optional update to remove the embedded 32-bit Flash Player from Windows and prevent it from being installed again.
32-bit Flash shown in Windows 10 Control Panel
This update was only available from the Microsoft Catalog, and once installed, could no longer be removed. This update marks an end to embedded Flash in the Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows Server operating systems.
Starting yesterday, Microsoft has begun to distribute the 'Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 (KB4577586)' update via Windows Update as what they state is an optional update.
IMPORTANT As part of the end of support for Adobe Flash, KB4577586 is now available as an optional update from Windows Update (WU) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Installing KB4577586 will remove Adobe Flash Player permanently from your Windows device. Once installed, you cannot uninstall KB4577586. For more details about Microsoft's plans, see Update on Adobe Flash Player End of Support.

In our tests, though, the update is automatically installed without your permission and without prompting you first.

Automatically installing the KB4577586 update
Once installed, the KB4577586 update will be listed under 'Other Updates' in the 'View update history' section, as shown below.
KB4577586 update automatically installed
BleepingComputer has contacted Microsoft to confirm if the update's automatic installation is a mistake but has not heard back.

I don't have any opinion. I don't empty them. If you run out of room in
your GMail storage, messages will automatically be deleted to make way for
new ones. At least I believe that is what I read. If you have concerns
about having messages sitting there for years where someone such as a hacker
might see them, you may want to remove them but I'm not concerned about that
possibility. My mail is almost all e-mail list mail. I doubt hackers are
interested in going through messages anyway. They try to hack accounts to
send spam messages to people using your account such as to people in your
addressbook, but they could do that anyway even if you remove messages, if
you have an online addressbook.

I'm not sure that deleting messages from your e-mail program would delete
them from the actual site. Others may know about that.

What am I doing wrong?!  Or, what else does the shareing person have to do differently?  Does the sharing person also have to create a folder of the same name in his folder?

All help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks mooy moocho.

Re: Deleting from Gmail "All Mail" folders

Marie Nelson

In the past I used pop3 and did not even know the all mail folder existed. When I went to the web site and checked that folder, there were over six thousand emails. It took a while to get them deleted because as previously stated, if I tried doing a permanent delete from within that folder, they just came back? When I deleted them, then emptied the trash folder, they did not reappear. This seems to vary from user to user and that makes it very difficult to explain or understand.
The trash folder will permanently delete emails over 30 days, however I prefer to empty it mc every few days to prevent having many old posts that serve no purpose for me. If there is something I want or need to retain, I don’t delete it in the first place.
Like most things on computers, everyone has to decide for themselves how they handle email and there are various methods available.

Please start completely new threads for new topics.  Even if you remove the subject line, there is code in the old message that causes it to be placed with the old messages in the archive.  Also, I suspect, though I don't know this, that it causes those who read mail by conversation to have the message incorrectly placed in the old thread as well.

I've only shared a folder once, but I don't recall anything else that needs to be done.  Is there any possibility that the other person has more than one e-mail address and that his account was set up with another one?

Subject: [TechTalk] Dropbox and Sharing a Folder

Hi All,

Running the latest version of Dropbox and I'm having a problem with a shared folder.  I created a folder for myself and someone else in my Dropbox folder, opened the context menu and pressed enter on the, Share, option, entered his email address and sent him the invitation.  He received the invitation and accepted but, our shared folder isn't appearing in his Dropbox folder.

What am I doing wrong?!  Or, what else does the shareing person have to do differently?  Does the sharing person also have to create a folder of the same name in his folder?

All help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks mooy moocho.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Persistent Jaws error

Pablo Morales

Good Sunday all,

Yesterday in the morning my Jaws that is the last UPDATE available on the Freedom Scientific page, started boring me with the error

unknown function call to:
inhjdialogerror
I was not able to figure out what was this error, so I repaired Jaws this morning.

However, the error still there.

I would like to know what can I do now since Jaws is becoming in unusable due to the number of times these errors appear on the browser. It happen in all browsers Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Brave.

Thanks guys,

Pablo
