Thanks Gene. They actually made it easier to find in the version of 78 that keeps getting installed, too bad it wasn't that easy to find in 68.

Hi all,

How do I keep thunderbird from updating automatically? I was briefly
updated to version 78 something and when I looked under tools and
options there was a radio button for download but let me decide to
update. That's what I want but now that I've uninstalled 78 and went
back and installed a version of 68 that I have I can't find that option.

Thanks.

Re: Concerning internet browser

Mike B.

Hi Veronica,

Here's how to set Edge as the default from the Edge menues.

The steps below are with forms mode set to manual in Edge.

1. With Edge open press, Alt + F,to open the menu and press, S, to open Settings.

2. Down arrow  until you hear Jaws say, Settings Categories, now down arrow 1 time to,Profilestree view item selected 1 of 16, and press enter.

3. Down arrow to, Default Browser, press enter.

4. Tab a couple of times to, Make default, and press the spacebar.

5. Now tab through the rest of the options pertaining to letting Internet Explorer open pages in Edge or to have pages load in internet Explorer mode.  Leaving these settings at their defaults would probably be best.
There's nothing more to do so, Alt + F4 to close, and Edge should now be your default browser.

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

  1. Hit your windows key and type default.
  2.

When you hear default program, hit enter.

  1. You’ll land in the control  panel. Tab around to  set default programs and hit enter.
  2. 4. Wait for the list of programs to populate, and either hit M or use you’re arrow keys to go down to Microsoft Edge.
  3. 5. Tab to set this program as default and hit space.
  4. Tab to ok and hit enter.

As recommended I still have Internet Explorer on my windows 7 computer.  But how do I go about making Microsoft Edge my main internet browser, as IE thinks it still is.  Thank you very much for your input.

Well the phone call quality based on what I’ve heard of BlinedShell is just no.

I think for the use case of the phone, this one is probably the best choice.

Honestly in most cases I’ll use Google Voice anyways. But when I need to enter a lot of numbers, its hard to hear the speech and the  speaking of the menus at the same time, so that’s why I have a phone like this.

As far as the Blind Shell is concerned, I don't know where you would get information about its reliability.  This is only one person, but a friend of mine's Blind Shell stoppd working after, I believe a year, perhaps less.  You can't generalize or draw any conclusions from one person's experience but before spending all that money and I don't know what benefits you want from that phone, I think trying to get some sort of

information about its reliability would be a good idea.  Gene

Yes, I have data and text. I asked it to call a contact and that works pretty well. I’m still not sure on this phone yet, but considering all I’m planning to use it for is being able to  dial numbers more easily in a menu tree, it probably won’t see  much use.

I also figured out how to work the FM radio.

Thanks so much for your help so far!

Does KaiOS have an accessibility department or someone that works on their screen reader?

Are there actual guidelines written as to how apps can be accessible on KaiOS?

I’m going between keeping this one or  using the BlindShellClassic.

One thing which I really like is that my contacts will  remained synced with this phone so when I make a change in my Google contacts, it’ll change on this phone too.

With the BlindShellClassic, I’ll have to import my contacts using a .VCF file, and it doesn’t have nearly the band support that this phone has.

Plus  it’s a lot more   expensive, (although the speech on it is  easier to understand.)

Do you hae a data plan?  If you only have a talk and text plan, it won't work.  Also, you don't just hold the ok button.

Open the Google assistant.  I want to make sure you know about that.  I wrote about it a number of days ago but whether it was to you and on this list, I can't be sure.

When you are on the home screen, press the left arrow once.  You should hear maps spoken.

Up arrow once to assistant.  Press ok.

Wait until you hear the sound and feel the vibration that tells you the assistant is opened.  Then press ok and hold it.  I think you only need to hold it for perhaps half a second but if that isn't long enough, hold it a little longer.

I don't know what you are asking or telling the assistant so I don't know if the assistant will do whtever you are trying.

I'll answer further questions but I'll wait to see what you say or what you report happens.

I haven't discussed using the assistant to text in this message and because there are two basic ways of doing this, I'll look at the ways again when you want to know how to do it.

I haven't found a way to get that information anywhere in the interface.  While I suspect it could be gotten somehow, I suspect it would take some sort of special command.  I doubt it is sent to the screen in accessible form.

Talking Battery Chargers

Steve Matzura

Does such a thing still exist? I have one I bought from APH years ago. It was one of the last ones they had, and it speaks in Spanish, which gave me a quick lesson in certain technical terms I never knew before (LOL). It does a fine job, but I'd like a second unit of similar kind--something  that can analyze a battery similarly to how the modern-day PowerX chargers do, and also be able to select each cell's charge type--trickle, drain and fill, etc., also like the PowerX's do. Are there any such devices these days with speech output, or I'd even take Bluetooth connectivity if the iOS application is usable.

SQUARE CASHAPP: A QUESTION OR TWO

Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.

Hello All:

I'm hoping that any number of us in the House use the Cash App from Square.
I have an issue that I can't seem to resolve. Here's the scenario:

I was trying to MAKE A PAYMENT to someone using CashApp. I tapped on the
Pay Button, entered the recipient's info, and, when it was time to tap on
the Pay Button to send it through, a message in the app window stated that I
had not sent funds to the said individual before; it then asked if I'd like
to add the individual to My Contacts. I tapped on YES hoping everything
would be good to go; no dice. Now here are my questions:

1. Using the CashApp, can one only send/transfer funds to people in one's
contacts?

2. Does anyone know a good contact E-mail address for CashApp's tech
support? I didn't find one either online or in the app.

In general, I don't KEEP ANY CONTACTS on any of my toys. Anyhow, I look
forward to reading your thoughts, much thanks for all help.

Sincerely,
Olusegun

Hi all,

I'm trying to pin 2 versions of jaws to my taskbar in the latest version of windows 10 and I'm having trouble.

The instructions on google say to highlight what you want to pin and
right click it and go to more and then to pin to taskbar, and I'm using
the right mouse button to right click but when I tried it yesterday I
was constantly getting the wrong thing pinned although I knew I was
highlighted on jaws to start, then as I'm trying it this morning
something totally different is happening and the same menu isn't even
opening up when I right click. What am I missing? I've done this
successfully before although it wasn't with the most updated version of
windows 10.

Thanks.
