When I had the card plugged into the card slot on my laptop the mp3 extention was showing, and all I changed was the 00000000001 part and left the .mp3 intact. When I plugged the card back into the Victor and went to the notes section it reported 0 notes. There should've been 2.

I just tried putting my sd card in the correct slot on my computer and changing the names of my audio notes that way but when I put the card back in my Victor it told me there were no notes at all although they're still there.

Unless somebody can tell me what I might've done wrong, if I have to use the Humanware companion I'm going to need some instructions because I've never used it.

No Humanware Companiln required.
I just use the standard windows keystrokes to select drives, folders, and files.
Then I use the f2 key to rename the selected file.

Thanks Ron, but it looks pretty complicated to me.  I downloaded it and it contains hundreds of files that I don't understand.  Looks like source code in the C language.  The install program doesn't even seem to be an executable.  Do I need a C compiler to put it together?  I just don't know where to start.  It seems like, in the old days, this chore was done with a simple one-line batch file.  I sure am behind in this stuff.

This program runs from the context menu and you can do a number of things with it. It copies long name, short name, long path, short path. It can copy the exact file names of all the files in a folder to clipboard and you can then paste the list into a text editor and save it anywhere you want.

This is what I use to make text delimited databases for all my music/movies/books.

Copy the following into notepad and save it as list.txt
Rename the file to list.bat
Put a copy of it in the directory you want to list.
Launch the list.bat file and it will create a list.txt file with your
list of files.

Enjoy,

Re: fixing sound issues

Well, I have a windows sound utility driver and the other is from my 3.5 boes speakers. But when I search for sound output, i only see my speakers, ms is the ones who told me I have 2 yet, I only see one! The sound affects all my screen readers output jaws, NVDA and narrator. The only time I think I see 2 is when i goe in to the sound card settings under NVDA and Jaws. But, I tried switching from the speakers and the windows utility and the same thing continues to happen with the sound for each selection! AAccording to my pc sound settings, I only have one output device for audio, the speakers. So question is where are they seeing 2 sound devices? Thanks Heather

It isn't clear to me what the problem is. You said yesterday you just found out you have two sound cardds. Is one of them an external USB sound card or are they both internal sound cards?

You can tell JAWS which soundcard to use if you have two. Do the audio problems just affect JAWS or everything?

Since I don't know how things are set up on your computer in terms of which soundcard plays which audio, you may solve the problem most easily by purchasing an inexpensive external sound card, connecting it, and seeing if all audio comes from that card. If it does, that should solve the problem.

I saw the check box to keep my files. And the other check box removes everything! I read it is a drastic move but, sound is driving me crazy jaws sounds like it has a hang over woe! all my screen readers are having the same sound issues and I still cant tell which sound driver has the issue audio windows utility or IDT High Definition Audio! I followed the youtube to update the drivers and it still is not working. Thanks Heather

This has happened to my partner after every major Windows update. She
has a Dell Lattitude and is using JAWS. Dell had her disable the Real
Tech audio drivers so the computer would use the computer speakers.
This does fix the issue but like I said, every major update
re-installs the Real Tech drivers again and this process starts all
over again. Hope this helps.

Re: Question about upgrading from Orbit Reader 20 to 20 Plus

Kay Malmquist

There is always one person that does this crap and this time it is me. What
is the difference between the Orbit 20 and the 20 plus? I know what the
Orbit 20 is and was thinking about getting one, but haven't kept up with the
latest on it and so do not know what the plus is all about. Thanks in
advance.

No, you have to send it back to orbit research and they will upgrade it
for 229 dollars.

Hi,

I was looking at the info about Orbit Reader 20 Plus, and noticed that you
can upgrade from the Orbit 20. How does that work? Can you use the same
device and download the upgrade?

Thanks,

Hi List,

Tlday I got a 4 tb usb powered  external drive.  It is a Western Digital My Passport.

There are 2 applications  on the drive; 1 is for the mac and the other for windows.

Do I need to run the windows application if I want to use this device with my pc?

Re: Microsoft Teams accessibility question, please

Hi David,

Thank you for your help in answering my question about Teams access; I intend to join your email list, and will post questions there as suggested.

Hello. Teams is definitely accessible but it has its share of accessibility quirks. Sometimes, it appears to randomly become unresponsive to screen readers. The solution to this problem is to either restart Teams or to change the size of the window, such as restoring or maximizing with Windows-down arrow or Windows-up arrow, respectively. I believe that Microsoft is aware of these issues and, for me, this never happens anymore.

At times navigating with tab and shift-tab produces inconsistent results. When moving backward with shift-tab you will sometimes find that many items in the tab order are skipped and they are found when using tab to move forward. One thing that I really like about Teams is that navigating chats and messages in a public channel can be done either with up/down arrow keys or by enabling the virtual cursor, where dates and messages are nicely categorized by headings.

I run a discussion group for users of Teams who need accessibility and you're more than welcome to subscribe. To do so, send a message to

teams-access+subscribe@groups.io

I would respectfully ask that people not write to me privately with support questions regarding Teams as I don't have enough time to provide individual support. Instead, please post them on a relevant list, either this one if doing so is permitted or the Teams-access list. This way others can answer the question and you'll also receive help much faster.

Hi everyone,

While I have had a fair amount of experience using Zoom, I am a total newbie when it comes to Microsoft Teams.  I am using Windows 10 with JAWS 2019, and am wondering if Teams is accessible and, if so, are instructions for using Teams available for newbies like me.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
