Yes they changed this and they got rid of google play music. So one has to
have a free pandora account to get free music off their google speaker.
Alexa is the only one that has free music listening with amazon music if

Well I will start with google. Pros, she spells slower than alexa with
pauses. She plays podcast better too my opinion. She handles smart plugs
better that are not amazon based like the smart life and wemo. She has
more information on certain subjects. She can have several voices not
just
one voice. Her language data base is more extensive. Cons, it is hard to
pare smart items with google and she has to apps to control the speaker
instead of just one like alexa. She does not have as many apps that work
or connect with the speaker. You cant drop in on other speakers.
Alexa, pros, you have a wide range of connected devices to connect with
on
the speaker. She always has more skills to use; you can change her wake
word; you can drop in to different rooms and locations with your
contacts;
you can listen to music for free with amazon if you have prime; you can
order using the speaker or put something in the cart; if you have the
show, you can have face to face conversations across the country. Cons,
alexa has not have the spelling feature to spell slow if you are trying
to do dictation; her data base for information is not as good; amazon
has
some issues with their smart plugs that do not always work wich means
your
plugs do not work especially with their outages; not all their stuff is
fullally accessible for example, you cant turn on the feature that
allows
you to tell the speaker to delete everything that you said as the app
does
not allow vo users to access that on the app; you have to have prime to
make the nost out of the speaker.
Both speakers will: tell the time and temp, give directions, tell jokes;
give sports scores; play games; tell stories; give the news. OH, forgot
,
it easyer to make routines with alexa as you only have one app to deal
with while google makes you use 2 apps.
This is just off the top of my head.

I personally have both speakers. I have them in my room and in the
office
and my mom has both in her room. They both have qualities to like and
dislike. It is good have both say if you are trying to get your smart
plugs to work, some times google does a better job than alexa. Sometimes
if you want music, alexa is better at that than google. Find that
google
does a better job of spelling words than alexa, she actually pauses
between letters alexa does not always do this. So it is good to have
both
if you can. Cheers Heather

Re: winamp 5.666 won't play an audio cd

Here are two ways:
The magic way:
Say abracadabra, abracadee,
Winamp, play the CD.

If that doesn't work, try the following:
Open Winnamp and use control p to open preferences.
Once opened, press home, then down arrow twice to file types.
Tab until you get to Use Winamp to play CDS or words to that effect. It is a check box. Check it with the space bar. Use escape to close the dialog. There is no ok button and settings take immediate effect. If that doesn't worrk, someone may know how you might do this in Windows 10. I know this procedure worksw in Windows 7, I don't know if it does in Windows 10.

II want to change my address, but there is no edit field at all for putting the date in. The other fields are showing, but there doesn't seem to be an edit field or even a date picker that might possibly be activated. The combo box for what type of phone--home or mobile--does not read the items either, even with using alt down arrow to make sure combo box is open. I'm not sure what to do when there's not a clear edit field or is there a Jaws key command I'm not aware of that will bring hard to find fields more into focus? Thanks.

Creating a recurring event in Google Calendar

Leo Bado

ello everyone,

I have a couple of teachers who sent me invitation links for  two different courses. One of the invitation links is a Zoom link, the other one is a Google Meet link. I want to add  each one of these links to a recurring event in Google Calendar, so that I can received pushing notifications in both my cell phone and my PC, but I can’t figure out how to do it. Obviously, I’m not the host, so  this makes things more difficult because whenever I google how to create recurring events, all I’ve gotten is how to do it when you are the host creating a new event, but not when you are just a guest who has received an invitation link.

If someone knew how to do this and wanted to share the info, I would be highly appreciated!

Best,

     Leo Bado.

Hi Nancy,

You can find the manual of the Focus 14 on the Freedomscientific.com page.
This device is called Focus 14 because it has only 14 cells. I think that the following model is the Focus 40 and it is which I have. If your device is new, you can return it to Freedomscientific and might consider other choices with more cells. However, the price is also going to increase exponentially with the numbers of braille cells.
Thanks,

I just purchased a Focus 14 braille display. It’s made by Freedom Scientific. I realize that there are only 14 cells. So when I’m trying to read the title of a music file in a flash drive, I can only see the first part of the file. How can I see the rest of the file? For example I see the artist, so where is the downarrow button to see the title? And where can I get a manual to learn this unit? It has only 14 curser keys. The keys are, a space bar, then left, 1 2 3 and back. Then 4 5 6 and I think it’s enter. Then on the top of the unit on the right and left side are what I think are up and down arrows. But they take me to the next file, instead of reading the rest of the line. When I set it up with my Apple Mac Mini, I set up the input and output to 6 dot contracted braille. To the left and right of the 14 curser buttons is are two round buttons, one left of curser buttons and one right of the 14 curser buttons, but they don’t do anything. In front of the display are 8 keys. This has a Perkins style keyboard. Hope this helps.
Thanks in advance.

New JAWS Update Out Today, JAWS2021.2012.57 Update Download Link + What's New

Mike B.

Hi All,

Out today, this update fixes the popping sound heard for the, O, sound + more, read below.

32 & 64 bit download link:

What's new:

Enhancements in JAWS 2021.2012.57 (January 19, 2021)
This update addresses a few key issues that were reported shortly after the January 2021 release.
To download the latest release, click on the link above

You must be logged on as an administrator to install this software.
list of 8 items
• A new feature was introduced earlier this month, designed to let a user change the volume of JAWS speaking or the system volume itself using a layered
keystroke: INSERT+SPACE, V followed by J for JAWS or S for System. Since this change, Eloquence users reported hearing Ticks when reading and typing, especially
around the letter O. We also had reports of the volume randomly changing when reading documents or web pages. These issues are now resolved.
•  Resolved an issue where pressing INSERT+ALT+SPACEBAR was not starting the Voice Assistant in JAWS or Fusion.
• The JAWS voice commands to speak faster or slower now adjusts the speech in larger increments.
• Addressed an issue where JAWS was not reading table headings in Excel.
• Added a new JAWS Dictionary entry for "DocuSign."
• When spell checking a document in Word, resolved an issue where JAWS was not reading as expected when navigating by word through the text containing
the error.
• Resolved an issue where attachments were not being reported correctly in the Danish version of Outlook 2019.
• In the Italian version of JAWS, addressed an issue where the keystrokes to access the Braille and Text Viewer layer, as well as the Volume layer, were
not working as expected.
list end

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

changing the color of pictures in Microsoft paint for windows10

Josh Kennedy

Hi

if I open a picture in paint, in windows10, not paint 3d, regular old paint, anyway is there a way I can find out what color the picture is, and if it is too light a color, can I change the color of the picture to gray, red, or brown? a darker color? I tried embossing some clipart I got from google images filtering by clipart and I am guessing the colors are too light because the dots came out light on the paper. if I can darken the color I could get a better tactile graphic from the braille buddy embosser. thanks for any tips for manipulating images in microsoft paint.

Hi Veronica,

If the speakers you bought have the 8th-inch earphone plug then indeed you can buy an adapter to plug that into and that will plug into your USB port, I just had to do the same thing myself.

If everything I've said is correct just go to amazon and search for USB to 3.5 mm adapter, or USB to 8th-inch adapter might even work. When I did my search though I used USB to 3.5 mm adapter as my search.
