my computer will not update, causing all kinds of problems.

Jim Rawls

Hi all,For several months, I have tried to get my computer to update from windows 1909 to the current version. Microsoft has tried several times to update it, but they can’t do it. They put a repair tool in an it did no good. They tried installing the current version but that failed as well. So, I have a computer that will not install any updates, security or otherwise. Jaws will not update as well. I am authorized to version 2020, but I can only go to 2018. I am out of warrantee on this abacus computer. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fixthuis**** computer? Smile. Jim.

Hi Jack,
I did a search on your product and I find it is quite expensive. This is from the manufacturer.  Might I ask what you paid for your unit and where you obtained it.

Thanks in advance.

text not printing correctly in Microsoft word

Josh Kennedy

Hi,

I pasted some text into word. I wanted to print church readings. I made sure the text was aligned justified. I inserted a header and footer for page numbering. I then went into the tiger tab into the current profile settings told it to translate headers and footers, saved the settings… I then hit quick emboss on the tiger tab which translates it to braille, making and opening a new document like churchreadings-brl.doc, sets font to braille 29Point font and embosses the document. But everything is aligned left on the braille page, even though align is set to justify in the original document. What am I doing wrong? Also headers and footers are not being translated correctly. They are in the top middle of the paper, no number sign before the page number. I like so far how the viewPlus embossers put text into boxes. They draw a real box as a tactile graphic with the text inside it and other text to its left and wrapping around the bottom of the tactile graphic box. So if anyone can help me with my text alignment problem please let me know.

Thanks,

Josh

Josh and other interested persons,

My Juliet Classic purchased in 1994 is still going strong.  The funny thing is that I purchased it used for $1500 1994 dollars.  It is so old that I have to use it with a USB to parallel adapter.

It is good have both say if you are trying to get your smart plugs to work, some times google does a better job than alexa. Sometimes if you want music, alexa is better at that than google. Find that google does a better job of spelling words than alexa, she actually pauses between letters alexa does not always do this. So it is good to have both if you can. Cheers Heather

Hi Vicki,

I would be more than happy to assist you with connecting your email to either of these devices. I am most familiar with the Amazon Alexa but I know Google home will also read your emails. If you want email me back privately and I can give you my contact information. I mostly assist people over the phone.

Re: Kindle for pc does not open a book

If you are saying that Kindle behaved as you described, you restored the machine, and that didn't solve the probem that's different than the wording of your first message. Your first message made it sound as though you restored the machine and then Kindle started not working correctly. That is an important difference. I don't have an opinion on whether you should or shouldn't have tried a system restore. But the [possible solutions available are different to correct the Kindle problem. Originally, I had thought that undoing the restore might have solved the problem. Now that I know that the problem started before you restored the machine, I know that undoing the restore won't help. The only solution I can suggest is to try reinstalling Kindle but others will have to discuss where to get the proper version.

You may have to reinstal it. I don't know why you restored your machine but

undoing the restore may solve the problem as well but then you would lose
the point of the restoration. As to which, if either, you should try first
with more chance of success, I don't know. If you want to keep the benefits

of the restore operation, try installing the program again.

Re: Error on boot

Steve Matzura

The C++ error might be worth investigating further, because if it's a runtime library, other programs may depend on it.

The JAWS thing, well, have you ever had a demo of JAWS installed on that system? That could account for the FS DLL hanging around, or possibly stuck in the Windows Registry. Either way, that one's most likely innocuous and otherwise harmless to remove.

Error Status 0xc0000020

Google tells me that the first one is related to FS and JAWS; and the second is related to Visual C++.  I'm not using JAWS nor Visual C++.  Do you think I can remove one or the other or both without causing problems?

Thanks.
