Re: Accessibility voice on Roku TV

Brent Harding

I heard a recorded demo that used the female voice as well, didn’t think it existed on Roku. I hate to reset my TV because then I will forever lose the ability to launch Spectrum on it. Why they eliminated Roku support unless you are grandfathered on, nobody knows, but they did. My dad bought me this TV for Christmas on the advice of Spectrum, maybe a year or so ago, because the little adapters the apt complex provides don’t speak, and I’m not sure that they can access the SAP feature easily, so it could be toggled if Spanish comes through instead.

Hello to everyone,

I recently purchased a Roku TV from a relative. Before re-reset the television, the voice being used for accessibility was a crystal clear female voice. After resetting it however, the voice being used is the cheap generic computerized voice. I have searched and searched to no avail for a way to get that female voice back. It is far more human sounding and easier to understand. I have noticed that if I use the Roku app to search for something that the TV will announce in that female voice that it is launching that channel. That’s the only time I hear that particular voice. Does anyone have a clue how I can change it to a setting where it would always use that voice?

I will be forever grateful four a positive solution.

Have a great day.

Have you checked to see if you have a restore  point dated before you started having these problems? If so run it and see if that would fix the problems.

Hi all, my computer won’t update, and hasn’t in months. Microsoft has tried to fix the problem and they say they can’t fix the problem. So what if I reset this computer to factory settings, would it eliminate problems like this? I of course would have to store the programs I have now, but that can be done. Anyway, I need your thoughts. I am running windows ten and jaws 18, because I can’t install 2019, or 2020. Jim

Hi Madison,
Well, I see no one has answered you yet. I'm not familiar with Facebook either, but have you tried to unsubscribe using your old email, and resubscribing with your new email? Just a thought.

Hi all,
I was able to add this email address to my profile on Facebook, but
notifications are still going to my old email. How do I change it so that they
get sent to this address? I saw that there's a link to remove this address from
my profile, but there didn't seem to be one to remove my old email address. I'm
using mbasic.facebook.com, the latest Edge, the latest Jaws 2021, and Windows 10

Hi Jim,

I’m sorry you’re still having this problem, as this can be quite frustorating!  Jim, if we had an idea is to what MS has already done on your PC, we could at least alimanate some suggestions.  I could say you could use the reset feature, in which you would have the option to save your files or remove them, and a fresh Windows would download, but then again, some of your files could be causing you from downloading, so we don’t know if that would help. I’m not really too familiar with Windows Ten, but I’m learning!  From my understanding, if you reset your PC and keep files,

This reset option will reinstall Windows 10 and keeps your personal files, such as photos, music, videos or personal files. However, it will remove apps and drivers you installed, and also removes the changes you made to the settings.   I think using the reset option, it can take maybe two or three hours, if you decide to keep your files during the reset process.  I also think third-party software, system file corruption, system settings changes, or malware should be fixed by resetting your PC though.  I hope at least this gives you something to think about, if MS hasn’t already done this.

Hi.  Here you go.  JDo you have any Zip file extraction program?  If not just press enter on the file and let the Zip extractor built into windows open it for you.  Press enter on the zip file, choose winamp.exe and install it as per normal.  Download link below.  Cheers!

I suspect that would solve the problem but people with much more technical knowledge will very likely address the question. But what do you mean bhy store programs?

Also, there is an option to revert Windows to a new state, as I understand it, but leave what is already on your drive, such as programs and files there. But I don't know if that means the programs will run or that they will just be information on your drive. I also don't know if using that option will solve your problem because I don't know if any old information is saved and used in the reversion.

One time, I called my broker, told him I'd like to buy
Amazon (at that time, about $1,600 a share), but with the
money I had in the money market at my brokerage account, I
could only buy three, but, I could buy 300 KBR shares. He
never heard of KBR. I grew up in Houston, and Brown and Root
is one of the biggest employers there. So I bought KBR and
almost doubled my money in two years.

22-year-old here in my hideout got in at the $7 point,
invested birthday monetary gifts in Game Stop grabbing 80

Sarcastically, I used to tell my buddy how RICH I AM

Well, he joined me in the penny stock column, and now he's

Re: question why is something that is a non proffit still making money?

Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc.

Mich, if a nonprofit company/organisation DOES NOT make money, its boat or
ship will sink and the pieces may not be salvageable. As nonprofit
entities, there are obligations that need to be satisfied: Example, payment
of electric bills, payment for rented space, maintenance of property(ies)
owned, the list goes on forever.

Nonprofits can purchase stocks as a form of investment; they can also invest
in annuities, mutual funds and such. Money made from these and other
investments go back to fund whatever cause(s) they choose to root for.

Whereas they can always source funds through donations from the general
public, such funding can dry up pretty quick especially during troublesome
economic times. As such, an astute nonprofit will be wise enough setting
aside some of the funds raised for investment purposes. Typically, they
will have long and short term investment objectives.

In most countries, there's a central body that dictate rules governing
nonprofit company/organisation functions and operations. For these United
States, there are a trillion complications! The Internal Revenue Service
does its thing with them for tax purposes, but then each of the 50 states
and colonies add their own set of rules too.

Alex, a nonprofit corporation can be publicly traded if its organisers so
choose. All the corporation needs to do is launch a SEPARATE ARM of the
business, get an IPO going, and, there it is, doing business. Nothing in
law forbids nonprofit corporations from being publicly traded insofar as
profits derived from such an operation satisfies and meets the rules and
regulations under which such a corporation has been organised.

Publicly traded corporations can also have A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ARM of their
enterprise. A common example is the Ford Motor Company; it owns the Ford
Foundation! Carnegie and Rockefeller are similarly situated; they both have
nonprofit arms of their enterprises supporting whichever cause(s) that
make(s) their clocks tick.

Re: question why is something that is a non proffit still making money?

If you are concerned about the transparency of a particular nonprofit organization and the way it spends the money it receives, there are organizations that exist that rate and monitor nonprofits. I believe one of these organizations is called star guide. It’s a good way to make sure that the nonprofits you are considering donating to our conducting themselves in a way that is in line with your personal beliefs.

As for nonprofits making money, I have no problem with it. Especially if it’s a nonprofit that I support anyway. As someone mentioned, they have bills to pay, people to employ and all kinds of expenses. Many churches and religious organizations often invest extra money in stocks and real estate and other investments. It ensures that they have a steady stream of income as donations fluctuate from month to month. Some nonprofits receive tax dollars as well. But that’s a debate we probably don’t want to pursue. LOL

Blessings,

Victor

Hi Gerald:

Thank you for that tip. It was a good one.

There are many books out there about getting started in the stock market. I have not looked, but I’m sure there are at least a few unbarred mobile. That might be a good place to start. Plus, someone out there is always offering and expensive seminar on getting started. Unfortunately, the seminars are expensive and they usually try to sell you more information. I’m not sure how much people actually learn at these events and I’m not sure if they are satisfied when they purchased the information that is offered.

Earlier, someone mentioned socially conscious investment funds. You can Google those as there are socially conscious investment funds for conservatives, liberals, conservative Christians and everyone in between. I don’t have any extra money to invest right now, but I know of some investment funds/mutual funds that are in line with my beliefs as a conservative practicing Catholic. If I had the money, I would certainly invest through these mutual funds that I know about.

If you want to invest in or just help a new start up, a new nonprofit or an entrepreneur with an interesting business idea, crowdfunding is always an option. As with investment funds, there are crowdfunding organizations that fund a wide variety of businesses, ministries and organizations. There are even crowdfunding organizations that help fund faith based entrepreneurs and ministries if that is your particular passion.

With Google on the Computer, in the Search Bar, just type:

How much is one share of whatever stock.

Enter, and Arrow down to Skip to topic, or whatever it is, hit Enter. Most of the time, you will get to something like Market Summary. Arrow down to get the information.

Then, on my computer, I can page up, and I think maybe Down Arrow once, back space, and I'm back in the Search Bar if I want to ask about another stock.

I find Google is a little better than Siri, who simply cannot find Duke Energy or DUK (the symbol).

So wonder if someone can tell me how check on this? I asked both google and alexa and they were acting stupid about the whole thing. I would ask google.com, but not sure how to start searching!, It made me start to think about investing in our blindness technology perhaps it will generate more income and that can create better products that we all can use. Like a better braille display, screen reader, better note taker. I agree with the red it theme, take charge of your own and not let wall street and companies decide if the stock is worth something or not, we should have a say not a person who does not use these products.
