Buying a New Laptop Help Please.

Janet

Hi Everyone,
I am going to try and buy a Laptop hopefully today. I'm going to try and buy it from Amazon or Best Buy. I've never used a Laptop so this will be quite new to me. Some of my main questions is how do I set the Laptop to my network? Are there any Laptops with the num pad? How accessible is Windows ten mail? I do not have any eyes available to help me set this up, so I am going from Windows 7 computer to Windows ten Laptop, and, I am basically on my own with this set up. I will need a Laptop so I can use an email program, surfing the web, basic editing etc. I wil also be taking JAWS 2021 with me to the new Laptop.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
Janet
Peace Be With You.

Hi All,

I ran into a strange problem on a friend's Windows 7 Home computer.  When you type a URL into the Run Dialogue nothing happens!  I checked to make sure a browser was selected as the default and that all program associations were selected but, still nothing happens when you press enter on a URL from the Run Dialogue.

You can type, Notepad, or other commands into the Run Dialogue and you'll go straight to them but, for whatever reason URL's don't work, so to speak.  Can anyone shed some light on how to fix this issue?  All help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

I believe you can press your applications key on the image and select to save image as or copy link. The site owner could have disabled this and in this case you could grab that large link and email that to your friend.

Re: Forwarding an email message using Outlook 10 Help Please.

As was suggested, you can try repair. I suspect that if you turn off the setting for a new message that it will stop automatic running everywhere. If you either want to try this first or after a repair, if it is needed, it may solve your problem. A forwarded message is a new message, you are forwarding a message but you are sending a new message that includes the forwarded one. Whether the program sees things that way, I don't know.

Hi David, My computer does have a touch screen, but this is not relevant I believe, since I am using an external keyboard.

One of the statements I can think of that it says just before it freezes is, “Desk top notification.”

I know there are others, but right now I do not remember them exactly.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Sincerely, Vicky V

Vicky, does your computer have a touch screen? I'm just wondering if it might be that you may have inadvertently touched the monitor or perhaps the mouse during the reading.

Hi List, I am using Jaws 2020 on a Windows 10 computer.  I have found that with increasing frequency the “Say All” is derailed by Something.  I am not sure exactly what happens, but I think a message may have flashed up regarding some Windows happening and this both stops the reading and sends the reading back to the beginning.

Have any of you experienced the same thing and have you found any way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Mike, I don’t remember it happening when I was on the internet, but I do remember it happening while I was in Word and also while I was using Outlook 365.

Does that give you any ideas?

Thanks very much for all suggestions!

Stay safe and take care.  Mike.

Subject: [TechTalk] Forwarding an email message using Outlook 10 Help Please.

Hi Everyone,
For quite some time whenever I attempt to forward an email, JAWS 2020 completely stops talking for several minutes Then, I get a message saying US English spell check has stopped working. I then get a message saying do I want to close the program, or repair, or cancel. Can anyone give me any advice how to correct this issue? I've looked around in the tools by using alt plus f for tools, arrow up two times to the options, and looked through that, but I still can't find any setting that might help this, and I also went through the mail option, and all I see for the spell check is use spell check when sending a new message, although, I did see it is checked to when forwarding a message include original message when forwarding. I can't seem to find anywhere to stop the spell check when forwarding an email message, in which I think that is the problem.
I'm using Windows 7.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Janet

Peace Be With You.

Issue after updating to windows 20H2

Hello friends,

I am arvind from Malaysia, and i recently ran into a problem after updating to the 20H2 update.

As soon as the update completed, i noticed that my wi-fi was no longer working. The internet icon in the taskbar shows that there is a connection but on a further look, i get the notification that there is no connectivity.

To summarize, i had used the media creation tool to update to the 20H2 version, and have not found a solution to resolve the wifi not working issue, i tried resetting the connectivity via the command prompt, but to no avail,

So with my current standing, is there anything else i can do, because this is my second attempt with this update with the same resulting outcome,

Looking for a solution, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much ,

Arvind
