No, it's not just her computer. If memory serves, I think
she uses outlook 2013, and clicking links is a hassle.

At times, you have to select the link, paste it into the
address bar, because pressing enter or spacebar on the link
will not simply launch it.

In other email programs I've used, none of that needed to be
done, so I doubt it's a computer issue.

It's happened to me as well which is why I stated what I did
at the start.

But that is some sort of problem specific to your computer.
Links were not more friendly. Something changed in your
computer. It may not matter to you enough to experiment but
you might well be able to work around whatever the problem
is by using another browser. It's unfortunate that so many
blind computer users appear so resistant to trying other
browsers than Internet Explorer. If people would just try
another browser, Firefox is more similar to Internet
Explorer than Chrome, they might be surprised how little
they have to learn in the transition.

When I first got my computer last year, links were more
friendly, and I clicked on any of them that came through,
but now, I have to wrestle with them a lot of the time, and
still can't get to the intended subject sent. It could be
that if I put forth more effort - but then, there is more

Chris, it is not that hard to email yourself the link and

Thanks. I did have Chrome once, and it was not good with the
computer I had then. Firefox is worth looking into. I just
thought that it was Microsoft autocracy trying to steer to
Edge, and in so thinking did not think Firefox would be a
solution. Furthermore, ist has been a sort of sticking my
nose in the air, heck with you Microsoft, big world out
there, I don't HAVE to have you.

Also, I could copy a link, go to Internet Explorer, then get
in, but as many emails as I get and with my other projects
here, I don't care enough to do that. I was glad last year,
when they were at first so very accessible.

Hi Group,

I downloaded and installed the newest version of OE Classic version
2.51. It is definitely not accessible. None of the first letter
navigation features work as they do in the original Outlook Express.
Folder navigation is not possible without use of the JAWS/review
cursor. Similarly, navigating the options menus is not possible using
classic keystrokes such as tab and shift tab. You must use review/JAWS
cursor to highlight items and click with the JAWS/mouse cursors.

Unless you really want to be frustrated or unless there is some setting
I must change to make the program more accessible, I would not recommend
it for blind users.

In your second message, you said that you have seen many people discuss this issue other lists.  But if you don't say that, then it appears that you are reporting and generalizing on just your experience.  That is an important difference.  One users' experience tells us about just that user.  That's one reason beta testing is done with lots of participants.  if you report that many others had such a problem, then that is a sample group that may mean that a more general problem exists.

You may be right that the problem is Outlook 2013.  But Caroline said that links used to be more friendly.  Assuming the same program was used, we don't know what accounts for the difference.

Ok, why would I need to make statements that other outlook users are having links issues, when I’m talking about my experience.

I get it, maybe others are having the same issue? Or, since there are no responses having the same claims as I, we can’t assume it’s an outlook issue? Or it could be this, others maybe having the same issue as myself, but they choose to resolve it on their own, or not even waste time on it and move on.  To me, it just sounds like, since I don’t mention “other outlook users” are having the same links issues, as myself that when it’s reported, nobody will give a hoot lol.

We are going to go round and round on this, I can see it already.

I don't know if Caroline copies and pastes links but that would be a work around except where links are not shown as code, such as, for example, links that say click here.

You should make such statements when discussing such matters so we know what you are basing such statements on.  If you don't, it appears that you are only talking about your experience.

I don't know if Caroline copies and pastes links but that would be a work around except where links are not shown as code, such as, for example, links that say click here.

No, it’s not just her computer. If memory serves, I think she uses outlook 2013, and clicking links is a hassle.

At times, you have to select the link, paste it into the address bar, because pressing enter or spacebar on the link will not simply launch it.

In other email programs I’ve used, none of that needed to be done, so I doubt it’s a computer issue.

It’s happened to me as well which is why I stated what I did at the start.

But that is some sort of problem specific to your computer.  Links were not more friendly.  Something changed in your computer.  It may not matter to you enough to experiment but you might well be able to work around whatever the problem is by using another browser.  It's unfortunate that so many blind computer users appear so resistant to trying other browsers than Internet Explorer.  If people would just try another browser, Firefox is more similar to Internet Explorer than Chrome, they might be surprised how little they have to learn in the transition.

I hated ear buds for years and years, but now, they have them with soft, puffy coverings that are sort of springy - just love them better than any before including scissors ones that we used in dictation.

I do not like ear buds, they hurt my ears! The sets always seem to fall off my head too! My headset is a boes and it is wired and the only reason why they do not fall off my head is they have a padding that makes them stay! Heather

Just to clarify, criticizing of large corporations or specific products is
acceptable within reason, but criticizing member's choices or preferences is
not.

Hi Lenron,

I have no objection to expression of individual opinions, but please keep in
mind that there are many users of Apple products on the list and I don't
want this thread to turn into flaming. Thanks for understanding.

Yes they never seem to ask consumers. The only company that I can
remember fixing a messup like that was samsung. Taking away the sd
card last year and bringing it back this year. Apple won't do that
because most people that buy apple products are sheep and buy in to
everything apple feeds them.

LOL and isn't it so nice of Apple that they just happened to release
wireless AirPods along with their new iPhone after removing the headphone
jack. And even better, you get to pay $159 for the privilege of owning
them.

I hate this stupid idea. I just don't think wireless is there yet.
Also I don't want to have to use bluetooth headsets all the time.
Batteries die at least with my old 3.5 headphones not a problem. Yes I
get that they put an adapter in the box but I can't exactly charge and
listen with my headset at the same time.

Courage, space, and vision: why Apple removed the headphone jack in
iPhone
7

By Cody Lee, Sep 7, 2016

iPhone 7 lighrtning connectorwh

On Wednesday, Apple confirmed that the rumors are true: there is no
headphone jack in the iPhone 7. Apple is including a new pair of EarPods
in the box with the handset, as well as an adapter for connecting the
headphones to the legacy 3.5mm port, and it also announced new wireless
earbuds called AirPods.

Apple SVP Phil Schiller explains the move: “The reason to move on:
courage. The courage to move on and do something new that betters all of
us.” Schiller says removing headphone jack will free up space, which is
growing ever-limited with new components, and Apple’s ultimate vision
for
mobile audio is “wireless.”
iPhone 7 adaptor in box

“Up till now no one has taken on the challenge of fixing the things that
are difficult to do on those wireless experiences and make them so we
all
want to do them. Our team at Apple has worked so hard to create
something
new that delivers on the opportunity to create the wireless experience.”

So there you have it. For all of you folks out there wondering how Apple
would justify removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7: they say
it’s
because the port was a poor use of space and ultimately they see all
headphones becoming wireless. Coincidentally, they also announced
multiple
new pairs of Bluetooth headphones today.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the move, sound off below!
Take care.

Take care.

Hi,
From anywhere on the phone, touch an item, on the status bar, such as the battery status. Now, flick up 3 fingers, to get to the control center. Swipe to lock orientation, and activate it. HTH.

When I first got my computer last year, links were more
friendly, and I clicked on any of them that came through,
but now, I have to wrestle with them a lot of the time, and
still can't get to the intended subject sent. It could be
that if I put forth more effort - but then, there is more
out there than struggling for a length that is not going to
be a life saver or a money maker for me or anyone I know.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

Chris, it is not that hard to email yourself the link and
then show the reader on the Mac and hit command shift I. I
just did this with your current link, And was able to show
