Re: Requesting help for writing message rules in WLM

James Bentley

Kassy, you are worth your weight in gold.  I’ve spent half a day Googling around and playing with this.  Now, thanks to you, Its working fine now.  I’ve already created six message rules and have just about a dozen to go.

So very many thanks to you,

James

Okay, I believe this works the same whether running WLM 2009 or 2012. First make sure you create your folder where you want to keep the TechTalk messages.

1. Press alt+O+r to go into the dialog box for message rules
2. Click the ‘new’ button to create a new rule
3.Put a check in the box for Where the To field contains specific people and tab down once.
4 put a check mark by Move it to the specified folder
5. Tab down to the next prompt and then press the down arrow to “Where the to field contains: and press enter
6. In the text field, type:
tab to the add button and then down to the OK
7 Arrow down to the Move it to the specified folder prompt and press enter
8. Select the folder you have created for your TeckTalk messages
9. Tab to the next field and give the rule a name
10. Tab to the save button and press enter.
which will put you back in the main dialog box so tab to the “Apply rule now button and press enter
10. you will be prompted to select the rule you wish to apply so make sure the new rule is highlighted in the list.
11. Next it will ask what folder to apply the rule to. You will want to select the Inbox folder which is where your messages normally go and where the messages already in that folder will be moved from. The default folder is the storage folder so use the browse button to select the inbox.
12. Tab to the apply button and press the enter key. When this is complete, tab to the close button to return to the main dialog.
13. Tab to Ok and press enter.
All the messages which meet this criteria which were in your inbox should now be in the TechTalk folder. If not, so back into the rules dialog and choose to modify the rule so you can check for errors.
James, I hope this helps.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been playing around with trying to create message rules in WLM for several hours.  Apparently, I need some step by step directions for this one.

For example, let’s say I want to move emails from TechTalk in to a TechTalk folder.  And, if possible, I would also like the current TechTalk emails in my in-box to also move in to the TechTalk folder.

Does anyone just happen to have directions on how I can accomplish this?  Step by step if possible, please.

Thank you,

Braille Lite Millennium Help Needed For Using Compact Flash

Pat Seed

Hi Everyone,
I have a Braille Lite Millennium 20 File Revision 4.5 and I am desperately trying to have files go from the notetaker to the flash card.
If anyone can help by giving me the Exact step by step method of doing this, it would be Absolutely Wonderful.

The
cf.bns
file is on the Braille Lite.

Also, if it would help, I do have a serial to USB cable, though I have never worked with it and the Braille Lite.

I Definitely would be willing to call anyone who can help, if that is the best way to work this.

Thanks in advance for any help at all.

Blessings and All the Very Best,
Pat Seed

I was sorry to be so frustrated, but I don't have access to a Braille Sense QWERTY, and was going by its manual. The manual is fine, except it doesn't give me the info I need to help my student.  I'm sorry I barked.  I sent my student the .doc file and we're all good there, but she should be able to read the manual on the machine.   Since I don't have a machine, I'll set her to looking up the commands she needs.  That'd probably be a good exercise for her.

Re: Transferring books from Computer

Ann Parsons <akp@...>

Hi all,

Marcia, the easiest way to do this is to use the Humanware Companion. It does all the work for you. All you have to do is make sure it finds your books on the computer and that it finds the card in the reader.

You just go down your list of books on your computer and use the spacebar to check the ones you want to place on the card. Tab to the transfer button and use the spacebar to activate it.

Hi all,

<smiling> You need to go to the book shelf on your player. Once you have turned the player on, and you're reading the first book, stop it from playing, then, hold down the square play/stop key for about five seconds. You will hear a mid-range beep. The machine will say bookshelf. You nevigate through the books using the right and left arrow keys by the play/stop button. Just press play on the book you want to read.

I usually try everything I can before calling them, but like I said earlier, in order to keep the piece, & being this wasn't my computer, I let them have at it.  Well, I'm glad I did.  They weren't on the computer more than 20 minutes, & the dude had everything fixed.  Hell, I was on hold longer than they were on the computer!  LOL  LOL

He did not run any repair tool.  I was listening very carefully to what he was doing, that's why I don't have a clue as to why the saved desktop icon worked when the tech clicked on it!  Even he started to laugh when I asked him, what in the hell did you do to get that to work?  While he was laughing, he said, I didn't do anything!  Well anyways, the wireless icon / soundcard issue got fixed as well, & the registry is backed up, so it's time to listen to the Dodgers get their asses kicked!  LOL  LOL

BTW: This Youtube issue has been going on for quite awhile, so if anyone thinks I'm some sort of crackpot, that's fine, but it surprised the tech as well.  Thanks again for all of you that offered your advice & help.
Take care.

Hi Keith,

You might also try www.calendarscope.com.  I've used it for some years with Windows 7 and Window-Eyes, but I have no reason to think that it won't work with JAWS, NVDA, or some other screen reader.

I don't usually give Microsoft credit for much, but I have to say that this Disability Answer Desk service they offer for free is quite generous.  Normally such technical assistance could cost hundreds of dollars.  LOL I have charged hundreds of dollars depending on the amount of effort when I offered this kind of assistance in the past.

Re: NLS cartrages

Howard, make sure that you put your NLS books in a folder on your cartridge, and that folder should be entitled $DBTDOCS.  Note the dollar sign if punctuation is turned off.

Re: lap top issue

I'm not sure. This problem does not seem to occur consistently for all members. I believe the mail provider and other factors may contribute to ruining the formatting of some long URLs. I see the greater than signs and line breaks in my original post in your reply, but I do not see them in the copy I received of my message from groups.io. Thanks anyway though.

Ok thanks. I appreciate that a lot. I have contacted a friend of my dad
who
works with computer's, so maybe that's how I'll have to go.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Hi Sugar,

Unfortunately, this is not a good sign. You may require assistance from
someone tech savvy or a technician to help with either repairing or
reinstalling Windows.

Hi Carols
I tried both ways you said but it won't let me do anything on safe
mode, it will light up then get dim and nothing.

Immediately after you turn on the machine, start tapping the F8 key.
When the Advanced Boot Options menu appears, try selecting "last known
good configuration"
If that fails, try booting into Safe Mode from the same menu. If you
can manage to boot in to Safe Mode, try using System Restore to
resolve the issue.

Hi all
Using a lap top, windows 7,office 2010, jaws 14 when I turn it on it
ask me to log in so I do then it will ask for my password so I enter
it Then it stays blank but for a boink sound and jaws does not speak
anymore, then the odd thing is that it will keep circling around to
ask me to log in again and then to enter my password... hubby said my
desk top icons are not present and nothing is happening Any thoughts?
