Re: IE11 Unable To Play Youtube Videos
Some people are afraid of system restores.
This is not the system reset feature which will reset Windows to the factory
state, if you tell it to do that. This is system restore and it is
intended to be used to solve problems such as restoring your computer to the
state it was in before a bad program installation, the effects of which can't be
undone by uninstalling. It also is very useful for solvingt problems whose
solution is not known or might be much more cumbersome or difficult to achieve
without using system Restore. Everyone should have some means of reverting
their computer or computers. If not system restore, something else.

Maybe. I just did not want to suggest that one for
now. So... Tools>Internet Options>Advance tab. Press the
"Reset..." button and also check the "Delete personal settings" check
box. Note this will also disable your add-on. So, for example, if you have
a download manager you need to go to add-on manager to re-enable it. It
won't effect Flash, however. Happy trying... On 8/20/2016 1:18

Updates themselves are not installed after a
reboot, but new/locked files from installed updates are often replaced
after the next reboot which might delay startup. Although this should
normally not take very long.

I have never heard of Windows installing updates
after a reboot. As I understand it, Windows installs updates during
shutdowns. Also, it's Saturday and Windows 7 updates are usually
released on a certain Tuesday each month. If the laptop is used
regularly and regularly connected to the Internet, that also makes this
hypothesis much less likely.

I don't know if IE11 supports HTML5.
Whether it does or not, it plays Flash as the default. Therefore, I
suspect that this problem, whatever it is, is not related to HTML5. You
could try uninstalling and reinstalling Flash. I have no idea if that is
likely to solve the problem. But I consider a better solution to be to
install Firefox or Chrome. Both browsers support HTML5 and files should
play without problems. You should also have much faster loading times
since HTML5 has a much shorter pause before play starts than Chrome.
If needed, you can install Flash when using

Chrome installs Flash as a part of the browser

automatically by Chrome.

F12 is probably the most commonly used key, but some manufacturers use Delete, F10, and so on. Also, there is no guarantee that pressing Up Arrow once on the boot menu will select the flash drive. The order and available options may again depend on a couple of factors such as the manufacturer and currently connected devices. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rob" <captinlogic@gmail.com> To: <main@TechTalk.groups.io> Sent: Saturday, August 20, 2016 4:52 PM Subject: Re: [TechTalk] installing linux as a second OS, help please

To boot using the flash drive, you either have to change the boot sequence in the BIOS so that the machine will boot from USB first or figure out how to access the bootable devices menu so you can just select the flash drive directly. The most common key to do this is f12. What I suggest you do is power off. Then, power back up and start hitting f12 for the next ten seconds or so. Your USB drive should, of course, be plugged into the board. After ten seconds, hit the up arrow key and enter. Then enter once more and wait a bit. You should then hear a Linux start sound. The second enter is to get beyond the Linux boot prompt.

Maybe. I just did not want to suggest that one for now. So... Tools>Internet Options>Advance tab. Press the "Reset..." button and also check the "Delete personal settings" check box. Note this will also disable your add-on. So, for example, if you have a download manager you need to go to add-on manager to re-enable it. It won't effect Flash, however. Happy trying...

Re: installing linux as a second OS, help please
It certainly cuts down the number of possible items on the menu, but some manufacturers put diagnostic options on this menu as well so you still can't guarantee they will be the only two items. Type msinfo32 in the "Run" dialog, tab once, and look for the "System Manufacturer" and "System Model" items in the list.
