Hi Carolyn,

Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions other than the usual ones such as Windows Live Mail and Thunderbird.  You may or may not consider these acceptable alternatives, but when your current choice is causing enough problems, you eventually reach a point of diminishing returns.  Most clients can at least import contacts exported to a CSV file from another client.  I don't have the details at the moment, but you can usually perform a repair on Office applications so that might also be an option worth investigating.

This needs to be done the very first time you power up the phone. Press

Some yes, but you can also purchase a perfectly adequate Android phone for $90 to $120, even without a contract.  That's something that can't be said for the iPhone.  Android is not limited to one manufacturer.

Well Carlos, I'll tell you this much. You want to talk about price gouging, Look at the Android lineup phones. Their phones are much more expensive then the V Apple iPhones. Not counting D+ models. The plus models of the iPhone, are just about is expensive as some of the androids that are out there.

Courage, space, and vision: why Apple removed the headphone jack in
iPhone
7

By Cody Lee, Sep 7, 2016

iPhone 7 lighrtning connectorwh

On Wednesday, Apple confirmed that the rumors are true: there is no
headphone jack in the iPhone 7. Apple is including a new pair of EarPods
in the box with the handset, as well as an adapter for connecting the
headphones to the legacy 3.5mm port, and it also announced new wireless
earbuds called AirPods.

Apple SVP Phil Schiller explains the move: “The reason to move on:
courage. The courage to move on and do something new that betters all of
us.” Schiller says removing headphone jack will free up space, which is
growing ever-limited with new components, and Apple’s ultimate vision
for
mobile audio is “wireless.”
iPhone 7 adaptor in box

“Up till now no one has taken on the challenge of fixing the things that
are difficult to do on those wireless experiences and make them so we
all
want to do them. Our team at Apple has worked so hard to create
something
new that delivers on the opportunity to create the wireless experience.”

So there you have it. For all of you folks out there wondering how Apple
would justify removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7: they say
it’s
because the port was a poor use of space and ultimately they see all
headphones becoming wireless. Coincidentally, they also announced
multiple
new pairs of Bluetooth headphones today.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the move, sound off below!
Take care.

I don't consider myself an expert with any particular area of computer technology.  I consider myself a bit of a generalist.  I am certainly overall more familiar with Windows and Windows based PCs, but as you can see in the list archives if you care to look, I do keep myself informed about other computer related and electronic technology in general.  At one point or another, I have experimented with iPhones, Macs, Android, and several Linux distributions.  Although since my experience with some of the above is limited, I tend to let others who know more field related questions.

Old Carlos, I know that you've been around the technology world along time. I just didn't think headsets in general where your specialty. Your specialty as long as I've known you has been in computer programming. Particularly for windows. I started out like you did, in the Windows environment. Then I went into the Apple environment. Where are you I am very happy pleased with their very expensive technology and I'll try to convince others to investing it as well especially if it sounds like a great deal.

Oh it's not necessary to apologize to me. Apologize to yourself that you don't have them. I am asking you to pay 159 form. What I am saying that you should think about that before you say that and look at the headphones and try them out and then you will more than likely understand why they're so expensive.

Take care.

Take care.

Now, I'd be thinking that $300 for a set of headphones might get me something more out of them for my buck than just ordinary headphones.

My mother (long dead) would have said, "they're for someone with more money than sense," but then that would have been just her opinion. I would love to hear why I should pay $300 for a set of headphones; I'm open minded.

Bye for now,

Carolyn

I think you should think about the capability of these headphones before you say that. Why don't you go to Best Buy and look at the age of 800 from Best Buy whenever it first came out it was dollar 100. And it offers the same capability, as hey new apple ear pods.

Oh of course you can always find something that is even more ridiculously priced, but it all comes down to what each consumer considers worthwhile.  Also, I must admit that I tend to react negatively to products produced by companies who have a history of price gouging.

Mike, To turn on Talk back from the initial start up:
This needs to be done the very first time you power up the phone. Press and hold the the power button for about 7 seconds to power on. I believe the device will give a slight vibrations when powering on.
Wait a few seconds for the set up screen to come on (you just have to guess on this one since of course you can’t see it.
Then place two fingers on the screen and just hold them there. Eventually, the device will prompt you with speech to continue to hold the fingers on the screen until Talk Back is enabled. Once Talk Back is enabled you will have speech to finish your set up.
I have done this sever times with good success.
Goo luck and this is a very popular Android phone.

Sorry, I don't care about it's capabilities.  I'm not paying $159 for wireless headphones.

I think you should think about the capability of these headphones before you say that. Why don't you go to Best Buy and look at the age of 800 from Best Buy whenever it first came out it was dollar 100. And it offers the same capability, as hey new apple ear pods.

lol I know right it's lovely. Such away to try to drain pockets. With
only a 5 hour battery um those things suck.

LOL and isn't it so nice of Apple that they just happened to release
wireless AirPods along with their new iPhone after            removing the headphone
jack.  And even better, you get to pay $159 for the privilege of owning
them.

I hate this stupid idea. I just don't think wireless is there yet.
Also I don't want to have to use bluetooth headsets all the time.
Batteries die at least with my old 3.5 headphones not a problem. Yes I
get that they put an adapter in the box but I can't exactly charge and
listen with my headset at the same time.

Courage, space, and vision: why Apple removed the headphone jack in
iPhone
7

By Cody Lee, Sep 7, 2016

Take care.

You should paste the article or every time you send a link Chris, you
should
paste the article below. I'm to lazy to click the link.

Haha, I suppose I could've clicked the link by now based on the length
