Hi Ron & Gene,

There's no Status Bar to read with either Jaws or NVDA.  That's wht I mean when I say the Status Bar is gone / not showing.  It's now showing in the View menu anywhere except in IE11.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

But if you shift to screen review, you should return to object review after you use screen review.  The command is numpad insert numpad 1.  You may have to issue it more than once, depending where you are, but you will get back to object navigation.

If you don't switch back, some things may not work as expected.

Hi Mike,

Are you talking about the status bar in Windows Explorer or This PC?  If so, and if you are using NVDA, the hotkey insert + end key will not read the status line.  You can easily read it by using screen review (insert + keypad 7) and then move to the bottom of the screen with shift + keypad 9.

It could be so many things no one can tell you.  People can speculate, but who knows what happened over several years of lack of use.  Laptop adapters seldom have problems.  A part may have gone bad, the CMOS battery, if they are still used or were at the time, may have gone dead.  Can you see enough to know if there is writing on the screen?

It could be things I don't have the technical knowledge to think about.

Hi group,

I'm trying to bring an Asus Transporter Book Model T200TA-C2, running Win 8, back to life. I've had it on the adapter overnight and I'm getting a flashing amber light, nothing else. My efforts at searching the Asus community forums have been fruitless. Perhaps someone can give me an idea of whether the problem is 1. Bad AC adapter, 2. Bad battery, or 3. A little of both. This unit isn't critical, I just wanted to use it as a media center of sorts to attach to my home stereo system, to replace my refurbished HP Win 7 which has served me so well for so long.
BTW, the Asus was working fine when I shelved it several years ago. But, this is its second AC adapter, go figure.

Thanks all,
Norma

Re: help with wifi please

Steve Matzura

How far from the router are you and that laptop? Sounds like a weak signal problem. If you are close to the router, maybe it's a laptop reception problem. If you're in a situation with a lot of Wi-Fi networks around you, someone else's router could be interfering with you and yours. You might want to check your router' Wi-Fi channel settings and make sure it's on the "auto" setting.

First, try minimizing everything with Windows key m.  Issue the command more than once if necessary to move to the desktop.  then alt tab back to the message window and see if it is now the right size.  Don't release alt until you are in the message window.  You want to keep everything else minimized.

If you have many windows opened and they aren't minimized, more than one window may be displaying on screen and you may be sharing screen space among programs.

I can present one or two more probable solutions in later messages if this suggestion doesn't work.

commands for BrailleNote Apex, was: reading a PDF file

Ann Parsons

Hi all,

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but it had the wrong subject line. As I said below, the way to have an email address come out correctly when inputing text for email on the Apex involves a couple of things.

First, the commands assume that you know how to input computer braille. If in doubt about how to do this, check apendices in manual on the Apex. I believe it's apendix B, but can't swear to it. Two things to remember. Computer braille is characterized by dropped digits and uncontracted braille. So, you need to use the Nemeth form of numbers, not the UEB. Second, you need to be sure that all letters in an email address are uncontracted. Three, the all-important atsign is made by capitalizing the dot 4. So, you press space-u then type your dot 4. Fourth, remember that in computer braille the dot or period is made with dots 4-6, not dots 2-5-6.

Now here's the important part of all this. If you're writing an email on the Apex, and you want to include your email address, or anybody else's for that matter, first do a backspace-g You will see a question, answer it with the letter c, nothing else then press enter. You will notice the letter g followed by the format sign, dots 1-2-4-6 and the number sign, followed by the zero. Type in your email address.

To return to contracted braille input, do a backspace-g and type the number 2 i.e. the numbersign followed by dots 1-2, followed by the enter key. This has returned you to literary braille input. You will see a g followed by the format sign and the number 2. Continue your message.

HTH,
Ann P.

Original message:

Hi all,
You need to use computer braille. If writing a document, you need to
switch to computer braille and then switch back to regular literary
braille. Let me send you the commands tonight. Gotta run to an online
meeting. More anon.

Use filter to do that and make sure remove label for inbox is sleected.
You can have multiple lable for a single message, once you remove them, or specific label, according to the folder (imap) point of view, it will only appear once.

It sound like a battery or power to it issue to me.
If you can buy a cheap power or multiple adaptor for laptops, or even borrow someone who can use it on it, else, how are you going to determine if the problem lies on the power source or the motherboard?
Remove the battery if possible and power it. Else, get a another adaptor. If not, I will not try further as it might cost more than I would want to spend on it.
