Hi.

Someone gave me a second gen victor. It won't charge; it won't do anything.
I'd bladly send it to one of you techies who would like to play with it for
your own benefit.

I could give it away on the give-away list; but I don't want it to go to
just anyone. I'd like its home to be someone who would get a bang out of
playing with it before he (or she) throws it away.

I only have one. If this is not permitted, I'll never do it again, promise!

Hi Mike,

Just as in past versions of Windows, you must display the status bar under the menus for it to show up.
With the ribbon menu, highlight the view tab, then navigate to the folder options item and press enter and then under the view tab, move to the advanced list of items and check the box that says: 'show the status bar.'

Are you talking about the status bar in Windows Explorer or This PC?  If so, and if you are using NVDA, the hotkey insert + end key will not read the status line.  You can easily read it by using screen review (insert + keypad 7) and then move to the bottom of the screen with shift + keypad 9.

Re: Status Bar is Gone

Hi All,

I need to make a correction to my post.  Yesterday and this morning my Win10 computer wouldn't read the customary info when pressing the keystroke, Insert + Pagedown, with Jaws or NVDA.  Well, I went looking in the View menu to see if the Status Bar was checked / turned on, and didn't find a Status Bar option, so I assumed the Status Bar option was gone after not finding it anywhere else, except in IE11.  I rebooted the computer a few different times and for whatever reason the keystroke, Insert _+ Pagedown, wouldn't read the info it's supposed to read.  Well, MS Support told me this morning that the Status Bar doesn't show as a Toolbar in the View menu in Windows 10, and the, Insert + Pagedown, keystroke started reading the info it's supposed to read while on the phone with MS Support.  Folks, I swear, I'm sober!  LOL  LOL
Oh well, sorry for bothering y'all and I'm just glad whatever gremlins that were there are now gone.

Take care.  Mike.  Sent from my iBarstool.

How far from the router are you and that laptop? Sounds like a weak signal problem. If you are close to the router, maybe it's a laptop reception problem. If you're in a situation with a lot of Wi-Fi networks around you, someone else's router could be interfering with you and yours. You might want to check your router' Wi-Fi channel settings and make sure it's on the "auto" setting.

It could be things I don't have the technical knowledge to think about.

Hi group,

I'm trying to bring an Asus Transporter Book Model T200TA-C2, running Win 8, back to life. I've had it on the adapter overnight and I'm getting a flashing amber light, nothing else. My efforts at searching the Asus community forums have been fruitless. Perhaps someone can give me an idea of whether the problem is 1. Bad AC adapter, 2. Bad battery, or 3. A little of both. This unit isn't critical, I just wanted to use it as a media center of sorts to attach to my home stereo system, to replace my refurbished HP Win 7 which has served me so well for so long.
BTW, the Asus was working fine when I shelved it several years ago. But, this is its second AC adapter, go figure.

Thanks all,
Norma

Subject: [TechTalk] Trying to revive an Asus 2 in 1 laptop

Thanks all,
Norma
