You can't subscribe to the app I had to go on the physical website in order to create my account and then I was able to login through the app.

Re: How do u clone a laptop's hard drive?

Geoff Eden

Good evening Nancy, the easiest way to do this to secure all of the personal
settings you have for your computer is to create an image of your hard drive
on another drive, which will give you the capability of bringing your
machine back to the moment you created the image.

To begin with, determine what you really need to keep for a restoration. If
you have copies of music, emails, or text that you have already put away,
then you can remove them from your drive before starting in order to keep
the image within manageable limits. This is only necessary if space is an
issue.

When you've accomplished your housecleaning, check to see how much space is
being used. Then look at your external drives to determine where you have
sufficient space to store your image.

To begin, tap your Windows key and type in the word "backup". This will
open up your restore utility, tab to "backup and restore windows 7" and
select by pressing enter. Press the tab several times until you see
create an image of this computer. Press the enter key to select this item,
and after a short time, the next tab will show you an option of which drive
you may select. This only occurs if you have other drives plugged in at the
moment.

Finally, launch the process, and give yourself a few hours to do something
else. You can use the computer while this is happening, but I suggest it may
be risky. I do mine overnight.

The computer will inform you when it's finished, and offer you the
opportunity to create a startup disk. You must select this option and be
ready with a blank CD, DVD, or memory stick to record this special boot
material. It is altogether likely, that if your computer has a CD/DVD drive,
your BIOS has been set to see it first in the boot sequence. If your
computer has no media drive, that it is altogether likely that your BIOS
will see a device such as a memory stick or a remote CD drive as first in
the boot sequence.

Now, when it comes time to restore from that image, start your computer with
the CD – memory stick ready to go. Give your system a minute or two to sort
itself out, which it will do without speech. Generally, hitting the enter
key a couple of times will launch the restore. If not you may need someone
to take a peek at the screen.

Just for your information, there is a circulation of Windows PE that can
come up talking and will give you control of the image restoration. Probably
far more complexity than that for which you are prepared.

I hope this is helpful, and that if anyone sees I've missed something,
please jump in.

Geoff

Subject: [TechTalk] How do u clone a laptop's hard drive?

Hi All, Thanks to y'all I have gotten to the point where I am wanting to
get a copy/clone of my laptop's hard drive so I will be able to restore
it with most of the tweaks I like to have on my machine should the need
ever arise.

Is there a place to get instructions on how to clone a hard drive?

I am running win10 and one of the latest jaws. My laptop has a 1TB SSD
and I have 2 1 TB WD external My Passports ready to receive the clone/copy.

I don't know how often I should clone my PC as it is not a business
machine...just my personal device.

Your suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!

Nancy

Hi all,

Can the siriusXM ap be installed on 2 phones if there's only one account? My mom just bought a new iPhone and she wants the app on it but I already have it on my phone so I wasn't sure if we could both have it or not. If not, I never use the app anyway so I'll just uninstall it and let my mom use it on her phone, but if we can have it on both I'll keep it.

Thanks.

Re: A surprising difference between desk top and laptop command

chris judge

Some brands will allow you to change them by holding the FN key and pressing escape. I have a dell laptop as well as an HP. With the dell you toggle the behaviour of the function keys with fn escape, and with the HP you toggle them with the fn key and the left shift key. I believe others have a utility built in that allows you to change them, but I’ve never experienced this personally. If the suggestions above don’t work you may need sighted assistance to go in to the bios and change them. Regardless, it can be changed. I can’t imagine having to hold the FN key every time I implemented a command that required the use of a function key. If the lord had wanted this to be so he would have given us a third hand.

Like others have stated Lenovo has the habit of setting the media function keys to the default but with some visual assistance you can set the function keys to act like the ones on your desktop if that is the rout you want to go. For now do the FN plus JAWSKey plus F4 to unload JAWS. FN is the key usually on the bottom left in between the control key and the windows key. Not sure if Lenovo has an application to turn the media function keys off but one method is to go into the bios of the machine to turn them off.

Hi List, I recently bought a Lenovo Windows 10 laptop and loaded Jaws 2020 on it.

I was surprised to find that when I press Insert plus F4 on its keyboard, it goes to a print command. However, when I issue that command from an attached desk top keyboard it does unload Jaws as it should.

Have any of you experienced this?

the siriusXM app again

Troy Burnham

Hi all,

When the siriusXM app is opened for the first time after being downloaded it asks for an e-mail and password. I just logged onto siriusXM.com and changed my password since I didn't remember what it was, I know the e-mail address is correct, but when we put that info into my mom's phone in the xm app it still didn't take it. Is there another password than the one to log in that I'm forgetting about?

It's possible that my mom is typing either the e-mail address or the password wrong as I give it to her since this is a new phone, my next step will be to turn voiceover on and try it myself, but I wanted to ask here first if we might just be entering the wrong info.

Thanks.

Troy

Restoring laptop and JAWS activation

Juan Gonzalez <jgonzalezh614@...>

Good afternoon, I am thinking of restoring my laptop back to factory settings and was wondering if there is a way I can save my activation key or file so when I reinstall it I can activate it again. This jaws was installed by the state and I have long ago lost the box for it. I am running JAWS 2020 and not sure if I can make an account since its registered to them. If someone could tell me my options that would be great.

This is all moot, anyway, because Window Eyes may no longer
work with the latest feature update to Windows 10, because
it has not been updated in years. Freedom Scientific now
owns the rights to Window Eyes, and put it out of its misery
a long time ago, migrating all of its users to JAWS. I'm
sure they wouldn't care if somebody wanted to give somebody
else a copy of Window Eyes, figuring that getting it to work
properly would be an exercise in futility.

Try pressing, FN + Escape, to disable the function keys.

I believe you can enable / disable the function keys as default using the Lenovo Vantage app. If you don't have this app it might be available in the
