Well, I have it plugged in to a usb hub that is plugged in to a back up supply. But, we have really crappy electrical issues here at the apartment complex! So in the abundance of caution I have all my electrical appliances on back up supplies that also have surge protectors built in! cheers Heather

Hey. Thanks alot, this is the kind of setup that I always wanted. The only thing that I don't understand is if I can power this box over usb or do I have to actualy get a bigger power strip? I have a cool idea in mind on how this can work as a small, remote controlled fire pc. :) It can also be made portble if that runs from usb because I have a bluetooth speaker with an aux port, a 30000 mah battery that can power the stick and the convertor if it can be powerred from that and I can put them in a box to look like one product or something. Does Amazon Prime Video offer DVS on Xfinity
Steven Johnson
I’m trying to figure out how to get DVS on Amazon Prime video through my Xfinity X1 box. Xfinity provides a gateway that opens the Prime Video app through my Comcast cable setup, but the Amazon Prime Video app on the Xfinity box doesn’t have an option to turn on DVS. I am able to turn DVS on and off for the regular Xfinity channels, but I cannot get descriptive video when I bring up Amazon Prime on my Xfinity. Any tips?

Open the system tray icon for drop box. It is a menu. You will
see an item that says recently changed files. See if what you are looking
for is there. I have almost never done this and I don’t recall if it
works, but press enter on the item if it is there and see what happens.

Re: which browser to choose?
Gene
Anyone who is a significant user of different sites on the Internet should
have more than one browser and use it when the one they usually use doesn’t work
well or at all on some aspect of a site or the entire site. For example, I
can’t post comments using Chrome on a widely used blogging site. I can
post them using Firefox. If I only used Chrome and refused to use another
browser, I would be unable to comment when I want to.
The same with screen-readers. As with browsers that support the
virtual PC cursor or browse mode, both names for the same thing, screen-readers
have developed standardized commands that are almost identical from browser to
browser, so too using a different screen-reader for many tasks can be done in
the same or almost the same ways. the majority of commands you use much of
the time are program and Windows commands. You can move from one
screen-reader to another and still do much of what you do in the same
ways. There are a small number of commands you need to learn, read to end,
read current line, read title bar, how you adjust speech rate, set punctuation
level, and perhaps a small number of others but the idea that you must jump
through hoops when you use a different screen-reader is just plain wrong and it
leads to people not using their computers to the best advantage.

Re: which browser to choose?
Gene
No software company supports its products .indefinitely. Things
change over time in terms of technical ways which things are done and
requirements change over time in terms of what a program does. For
.example, when Internet .explorer was developed, there wasn’t the emphasis on
security there is now. I would think it was better and easier to design a
new browser than to try to add what would be needed in Internet Explorer.
Also, I suspect things have changed in terms of how some web pages are coded and
there will be ongoing changes.
Windows 10 is very different technically than Windows XP. It doesn’t
make sense for Microsoft to continue to support XP.
It may not always be a goode decision not to support
programs. I don’t know enough technically to say if Microsoft should have
continued to support Outlook Express, for example. But in general, look at
all sorts of programs by all sorts of for profit companies and open source
developers. New versions come out over time and old versions are no longer
supported. Look at NvDA. It has just recently undergone major
technical changes for technical reasons that were necessary as the programming
language it uses is further developed. As a result, old versions of a lot
of add-ons don’t work in the current version and a lot of developers have
modified their add-ons to work. And NVDA hasn’t supported XP for a number
of years because it is too technically difficult to support it in newer versions
as those versions change to support changes in Windows itself.

Hello, I got my converter box off amazon. I also got 3.5 head phone jack to connect my speakers to the converter box. Here is the link if you are looking for the same thing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFDQ6HG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So with the fire stick, plugg in the fire stick to the ac adaptor and than plugg it in to the converter box. So the 3.5 conector is for the set of speakers that go to the converter box. I thought 3.5 was better than relying on Bluetooth that can lose connection and you are left with out audio till someone resets up the Bluetooth off the fire stick; a sighted assistant and than you have to have a visual screen to work that out. my speakers are usb powered with a 3.5 connection. I plug my speakers in a usb hub to power them and use the 3.5 connector to connect to the converter box. So it works out great. Amazon accessibility cant seem to rap their brains over this one; they still cant believe a blind person can operate a firestick without a screen woe! Now if only they had a remote control with usb powered speakers. Some times the audio gets louder depending on the app like you tube or amazon prime or netflix. So it would have been nice to control the audio with a remote control for the speakers. But, if you do have a smart tv, the fire stick 4.k remote is supposed to work on the tv to control the volume level. But, not worth the money it would cost like over100 dollars vurses the 50 dollars I spent on my set up. I bought my firestick when it was on sale for 15 dollars and the converter box was 22 dollars and the 3.5 connecter was 5 dollars; less than 50 dollars woe! But if you want something more like the fire tv q, that has room for backing things up, you can use the same set up to do the same thing! Cheers Heather

I've noticed a slow down or stickiness when using
IE now. I do use firefox, but that is slow and seems to refresh
constantly, so if I go to a webpage on firefox I usually have to wait 2 or 3
minutes for the page to load completely, but when I arrow down the page, it will
(60% of the time) refresh and the cursor will jump back to the top. I
rarely use internet browsing anymore due to this.
